I went here with some friends, our first time and I will be back to explore the menu. The happy hour had great reasonably priced options and the sliders that I had were delicious with the Boss Sauce... a place to go to eat well and have a great time with friends

The shrimp and grits were amazing! Service was quick fast and friendly. We had a great bar tender as well. In the middle of us eating a guy came up to us asking if we could buy him food. It was a little offsetting to say the least. But service was great 10/10 recommend.

The city was bustling with people, and I was pleasantly surprised by how gorgeous the downtown area was. The café had a vibrant, energetic atmosphere that perfectly matched the excitement of the city. Our server was absolutely amazing and made excellent recommendations. The portions were generous, and the food was delicious. Based on the recommendation, I ordered the corned beef hash with the cinnamon pancakes, and both were fantastic. Next time, I definitely want to try the red velvet pancakes! My friend ordered the Triple Triple Omelette with the original buttermilk pancakes, and we both chose the cheesy grits. The cheesy grits were very creamy, though I would recommend adding a little more butter to enhance the flavor. That was really my only critique. The restaurant was busy, but after dining there, I completely understand why. Despite the crowd, we were greeted immediately, and the service was prompt throughout our visit. Overall, Hudson Café delivered great food, outstanding service, generous portions, and a fun atmosphere. I will most certainly be back the next time I'm in downtown Detroit!

I imagine a reservation is a must for a weekend. Our waitress was very friendly and accommodating, and drinks and food came out quickly. I appreciate they have espresso drinks, and ordered the chai latte but it was a little too sweet for me - I'd go with a plain latte next time. I also think I may have ordered the wrong dish because my mom got an omelette with pancakes on the side and enjoyed it. I gambled with the huevos rancheros but they were just ok. I wish the potatoes were more seasoned. You definitely get a huge portion for whatever you order so expect to split with someone or have leftovers. All in all, a solid brunch spot but not a favorite.

We went early in the week so it wasn't busy at all. I got the steak and eggs, a 5oz steak with sunny side eggs, potatoes and toast. I asked them to make the potatoes crispier and they did exactly that. The steak was cooked to the right temp and the eggs had the right consistency for sunny side. No complaints. I came with two friends so we shared everything. The homemade poptarts we all agreed on, not great but not bad, just wouldn't order them again. The real star is the fluffy pancakes. Just the right amount of fluffy, and the whipped cream had us guessing what was in it. It's lemon, which is actually on the menu, and it's a good touch. The hanger steak was my 2nd favorite. The kimchi, fried rice and sunny side eggs sound all over the place but it all came together and tasted really good. One friend got the stuffed french toast. I'm not a french toast guy, it's usually a soggy mess, but the hazelnut cream on this one was something different that I actually liked. I also had the morning blend juice, apple, carrot and ginger. Nothing special but it was delicious. Heads up it's pricey, expect to spend over $100 between three people. Still, would definitely come again, we might even come back for the dinner menu. My go-to would be the pancakes to share since I'm a classic breakfast person, then add the 2 egg breakfast, eggs your style, with bacon, sausage and potatoes. Drizzle some sriracha on it and you've got a solid brunch.

4 stars. Really enjoyed our meal here…read more The steak, burger, and vodka pasta were all very good. My only complaint is the serving sizes, especially the sides. They were smaller than I expected for the price. Overall, great food and I'd come back.

I thought the saloon-type entry doors were a fun touch. I liked the atmosphere, too. The menu is wide-ranging, from breakfast any time to burgers, salads and sandwiches. I don't drink alcohol often, but I noticed they had a good selection of hard cider. I decided to get the one that was on the top of the menu -- something with pineapple. It was sweet but very good. My sister had the Honest John's hard cider that was on draft. It wasn't as sweet, but it was good as well. I had the grilled johnny john sandwich -- chicken, swiss cheese, tomatoes, lettuce on grilled pita. It was very filling; I only ate half! My sister had the chicken Caesar wrap, with the same result. We ordered some plain fries to share. Those weren't anything special. All in all, I liked the restaurant and would go back.

It's lively, welcoming, and has that perfect mix of neighborhood bar and downtown cool. The kind of place where you can show up for brunch, dinner, or just drinks and know you're going to have a good time. I ordered the pattie melt, and let me tell you -- it did not disappoint. Perfectly cooked, juicy, and loaded with flavor, with that golden grilled bread and melty goodness that makes every bite better than the last. It's comfort food done right. And the frozen mimosa? So good. Refreshing, smooth, and dangerously easy to sip. It's the kind of drink that makes you want to stay for "just one more." Between the food, the drinks, and the fun atmosphere, Honest John's is a whole vibe. Definitely a spot I'll be coming back to -- and bringing friends with me next time.
