This was the first time I have been to this location. I live pretty close to the Groton location but don't go there often. We arrived there for lunch. Looking at the menu nothing stuck out, but then I saw the "all you can eat tacos ". For $11 this was an extreme bargain. I couldn't believe how much food came out on one plate. Three massive tacos, beans, and rice was just overwhelming for me to eat everything. Also had a Presidente margarita. That really kicked my butt. Very friendly service and not crowded for lunch. Definitely a place to go to get your moneys worth. Very clean atmosphere and friendly service. It seems they do enjoy what they do. read more

Excellent service by April. I had the 3 enchiladas topped with sauce served with pinto beans , rice & sour cream. Perfect taste for me, not spicy! I also got their nacho's & salsa. They was Free. We ordered takeout. My husband got fajitas and I ordered the Caribbean Salad. When we got home, I opened the salad and the first thing i noticed was the lettuce was shredded lettuce like what they put on a sub. I took a bite which included what they must think is canned pineapple. It was complete mush (see Pic). There was nothing fresh on the salad. I only took the one bite and threw the rest out. I can say with full confidence this was the absolute WORST salad/takeout I have ever had and I am 62 years old. The actual salad did not, in any way, resemble the description on their menu. I called the restaurant to tell them what I had received and how it was nothing like their description. BTW, this salad appears to have been removed from the menu. The gentleman on phone just said, "I'm sorry." Nothing else. Very, very disappointed. read more

Enjoyed Ultimate Margarita made with Cazadores Reposado. Could have had more birria on burrito which would have liked hotter. I'm not one for negative reviews but my experience was a giant food rip-off. I've noticed the food quality has deteriorated, compared to Chipolte and Tacos Tequila, it is an epic fail. I ordered an Ixtapa burrito with chicken. What I got was a burrito filled with overcooked rice and beans that were like slop. Chicken? A teaspoon on each end, nothing in the middle. The bartender checked in, I showed her the inside, she had another one made. Just about the same thing with a teaspoon of more chicken on the left and right side, to show there is chicken, but another plate of beans and rice slop. I think they believe if you are drinking, you won't notice. I got a Blue Margarita and I'll just say they don't use top shelf tequila, as after 2 sips I experienced heart palpitations. Weird. Better places for the money, but the service is excellent and the staff is always cheerful. Won't be going back and the cook should really eat out more to see the competition is blowing him away. Taco salad was soaked with some sort of oil. Men's room had no hot water. Faucets were taken off. Considering employees are supposed to wash their hands, this does not make a good impression! Their waitstaff is always very nice and they have excellent margaritas. The food is just okay. Some standouts are the chips & salsa, guacamole(it's good), taquitos, and chicken wings. Appetizers are always good here. I think the burritos are just okay but they never taste fresh and never come out hot. I think a good indicator is that they usually come out within five minutes and none of the burritos come with anything but meat and cheese on the inside, all other ingredients which normally go inside the burrito are used as toppings (lettuce, guac, sour cream, etc) That tells me that they are making the burritos earlier in the day and heating them up once ordered, instead of being made-to-order like they should be. read more

Let me start by saying , the servers are always friendly , however I feel for them because I feel like every time I've been in there it is short staffed and there are only a couple people working trying to manage the bar , the tables , and the kitchen . Always a wait for drinks because of that . It was also very hot in there tonight and other tables were also saying it . My husband likes this place but every time I always hesitate to order anything from here. Tonight I ordered the al pastor carne tacos. Usually comes with cilantro, cabbage and lime. My Man and I have tried this place twice and they have reliably satisfied our craving for New England Tex-Mex, I lived in Phoenix for 5 years and Dallas for 3 so I've had my share of awesome food in this arena. This was my third experience with Ixtapa and it's getting worse each time. Some tips: -don't order the taco Tuesday tacos. They are cheap, hard shell, tasteless tacos with cheddar cheese sprinkled onto lukewarm meat and iceberg lettuce. -don't sit outside unless there are multiple people out there. The service took forever. Our server this time was nice, but basically forgot we were out there. -the Chimichangas are great. Order a pickup meal, because the service is bad.
