Came here last night on a whim with friends. The decor is very cute and the restaurant was very clean. The problem began with the service. Our waitress kept walking over to us with her phone pressed to her ear. The first time it was the restaurant phone, and I thought to myself that they were busy with takeout. I was wrong as the rest of the time it was her cell phone pressed to her ear or on speaker phone. She could not care less about the service she was providing. We ordered margaritas and I was very disappointed. They did not taste good at all and tasted completely like drink mix and not a true house made margarita. The stars I am giving this place is for the food. We ordered the chicken mofongo and it was very tasty. I ordered it with the crema. We also had fresh made guacamole which was also quite good. My advice to the owner is to hire staff that actually like to interact with your patrons. I worked in the restaurant industry for many years and wouldn't have made much money if I treated my customers like that. read more

Finally, a "Mexican" restaurant in the Leominster area that doesn't have bland, uninspired food covered in gobs of slimy cheese! From the friendly greeting we received, to the warm chips with cool, herbaceous salsa, the complimentary savory soup, the start of our meal was exemplary. Then came the tacos, I had the Al Pastor, and my Wife had the chicken. Just Amazing! The tortillas were crispy and chewy at the same time, as they should be. The meats were tender, cooked, and seasoned properly, and were very flavorful. I've had refried beans all over the USA, and these were about the best I've ever had. Not the typical unseasoned, anonymous mess you get at a typical local Tex-Mex wanna-be. I'm so happy that this place is less than 10 minutes from my house! We're planning to be regulars! read more

My wife and I stopped in a few weeks back for dinner--1st time there. We sat on the patio. Reasonably priced, the food was very good, and the service was perfect. I was pleasantly surprised. The hostess, as well as our waiter, Jorge, were more than nice and seemed pleased that we were there rather than a burden (like you feel at some places). Jorge even treated us to sample some soup on the house, which by the way, was delicious. It was a thin chicken broth stock with garlic, lemon, and sour cream I believe. I wish I could remember the name of it--but I can't. Anyway, we will for sure visit again--nice people, nice place. read more

My honest opinion is that spanish people serving spanish food could do much better if they tried just a little harder. Mellos should switch to a fresher prep in the kitchen intead of pre-prepared portions of a lot of menu options. The setting is clean and the staff friendly. The service was fine- our server was quick and we didn't have to wait for drink refills. When we sat the server brought complimentary beef/tomato soup and standard chips and salsa. The soup was very good and a nice suprise! I ordered the steak fajitas $24+ . The acommanying sides, rice and beans, and the tortillas arrived at least 5 mins prior to the sizzle plate arriving. The rice was cold and dry and the beans looked melted like they had been heated too many times - I didn't even try them they looked awful. The sizzling platter was very plentiful and had fresh peppers and onions and though the flavoring of it all was good/tasty the steak was overcooked/tough and sub-par in quality and for $24 I would expect a much better quality of meat. My impression is they cooked the meat earlier and just reheated it in a sizzle pan. The meal comes with three teeny tortillas that are steamed ahead of time in foil and were brownish on the edges (how long were they in there?) I had to ask for more tortillas -- basically three teeny tortillas does not get you through half the sizzling dish. Tortillas are typically larger and served fresh from a steamer basket. The fajitas are served with fresh lettuce/tomato/guacamole/sour cream which were piled on top of each other, usable but didn't look very nice. Overall I would give them 2.5 stars. If I were to go again I would try to search the menu for options that could not be pre-made or reheated. read more

Wait a little longer before visiting, they are trying but don't think that have it all figured out yet. Food was ok but the language barrier is rough with waiters. Got my order wrong multiple times due to this. Definitely order the Hawaiian Margarita best part of my very expensive night! read more

I ordered the carnitas tacos and was not happy with the meal. The tacos were basic. The meat had good flavor but was really dry. The rice was not good. It felt like I had gotten the rice from the bottom of the pan that gets burnt. The beans were alright. Overall, the meal was disappointing. The highlight of my visit to Mellos was the complimentary soup. It was much needed in this cold weather and had great flavor. Staff was nice and attentive. However, this is not a place I'd go back to eat. read more

Not bad. Very friendly servers. OK food...but expensive drink and beer prices. No beer on tap when I visited recently despite having about 10 pulls. Hard to believe they will attract "regulars" at their price points. read more
