I was disappointed somewhat. The quality of the chicken was not very good. It tasted like packaged chicken. Not fresh chicken. It didn't taste right to me. The service was the silver lining. Direct and friendly. It wasn't really that busy. Not that many people there. Maybe just a few people. Kind of disappointed. Definitely recommend using fresh ingredients in the future. Thank you.

Ixtapa has always had great food! I love the chimichangas and the beans/rice. The people who work at Ixtapa are very friendly and have very good service. It's also very clean and they even have cute little bubble gum machines.

Very friendly staff and helped make our party feel right at home. They setup a nice area for our large group and even changed the channel on their tv so we could catch the game.

This is a wonderful family-style restaurant. Everything felt comforting, from the service to the seats to the food. Ordered chicken fajitas which came nice and sizzling. Taste was good, though about what you'd expect from any Mexican restaurant. They also offered cool specials at a decent price. Left feeling content in the stomach and the soul!

Service - Very friendly and attentive folks who work here. Food - Got the Chimichanga with ground beef. The ground beef filling was delicious and well-seasoned. The salsa which came with the chips was fresh. The re-fried beans were great. The red rice was alright. I've had better rice at other mexican restaurants. Not so good - I love a good Horchata in general. But sadly, enough the horchata at this place was mediocre at best. While the flavor was fine, it just felt heavily watered down. Like whoever is in-charge of making it really decided to be SUPER CHEAP! Imagine you have chocolate powder meant for 1 glass of milk, but you decide to break that powder among 2 glasses of milk. Not gonna taste so good right? Exactly! Horchata is supposed to be a relatively cheap drink to make with a high profit margin already. Why do you folks have to dilute the heck out of an already cheap drink? Another not so good - I went here during core lunch hours on a weekend, like at 1pm. They decide to run the loud vacuum cleaner at this time! And not only that, but run it close to all the tables where folks are eating! Seriously now?? I don't enjoy having dust in my food, with the awfully loud background noise. I felt pretty irritated during the long 10 minutes that it lasted. You guys need to plan better, wake up a bit early, come into the restaurant an hour or so earlier, and do the preparation and cleaning. Not DURING business hours. It's clear that the management is either clueless or very new at running a restaurant. I may come back to this place another time to try something if I feel like it. If it's a better experience with drinks and indoor env, I'll bump the review to 4 or 5, or if it's still the same, I'll rate it lower.

I would say this Mexican cuisine was no different than places like Azteca or La Fuente. The food was good (how different can one Mexican restaurant taste from another unless it's a different style) and prices were competitive. Service was friendly. I did like their appetizer salsa and freoles with chips. Very tasty. This restaurant was large and typical in decor as you might expect.

Most of the time I'm dining solo, and this place just has a great vibe. The music is always on point, the artwork and decor throughout the restaurant are awesome, and it's one of those places where you can relax, enjoy a good meal, and feel comfortable whether you're by yourself or with a group. Daniel (I believe that was his name) was outstanding. He made sure I was taken care of the entire time, stayed on top of drinks, and checked in just enough without ever being overbearing. Great service like that doesn't go unnoticed. As for the food, I always order the Carne Asada (steak) Burrito and have them add guacamole inside. It's become my go-to and has never disappointed. Great food, great atmosphere, great people. Matador has become a regular stop for me whenever I'm in town, and I look forward to coming back every chance I get.

Why was everything out of balance/dried out/over cooked (which was even visible)? This restaurant lacks consistency and quality check. I gave it five stars the first time, and now giving it one star for the quality of food served today

The food here is good for what it is, but it's definitely more on the Americanized side of Mexican cuisine. If you are hunting for strictly authentic, traditional Mexican street food or regional dishes, you will probably want to look elsewhere. But if you are craving that classic American-Mexican style, think big portions, melted cheese, and familiar favorites, this is a very solid spot that hits the mark. The service here was really good, attentive, and incredibly welcoming to families. The absolute biggest highlight for us was how family-friendly the environment is. Our kids had a great time, and the staff made dining with children completely stress-free. While the food isn't necessarily my personal style, you can't beat how accommodating they are for a family night out. If you are looking for an authentic culinary journey, I'd suggest checking out other options. However, if you have kids in tow and are just looking for a friendly, easy, and reliable spot to enjoy some classic American-Mexican comfort food, this is a great option.
