Very disappointed! I decided to go meet my fiancé and take her out for a nice quiet, romantic dinner and I picked this Mexican restaurant as it showed to be a family Mexican restaurant. It is very unpleasant when guys are served alcoholic beverages and they're yelling and swearing cuss words throughout, the time we're there since the Mariners game was being played. They were very intoxicated and should not have been drinking. It makes for a very unpleasant atmosphere to have dinner. I will not go back to this restaurant with that type of atmosphere. And if I compare the food to the other Mexican restaurants that I usually go to south end the food is disappointing. There may be something that's good there but the dishes we had were disappointing. I would rather have not even said anything or posted a review, but after we left, she explained to me how upset that made her and worried as to what might happen. She did not feel safe and that is not OK. For many years, Ixtapa in Duvall was our "go-to" Mexican restaurant and it went downhill after the pandemic, so this time we tried Ixtapa in Redmond Ridge. The food was good but they didn't refill our chips and salsa after we ran out. And I noticed that there was no lettuce on the platters, as there had been in the past. It seems like they are trying to cut corners and these things are "minor" but nevertheless noticeable. read more

Ixtapa has always had great food! I love the chimichangas and the beans/rice. The people who work at Ixtapa are very friendly and have very good service. It's also very clean and they even have cute little bubble gum machines. read more

Had a great dinner here last night - so good I forgot to take pictures of the food! I had the supreme quesadilla and it was delicious, and others had the Enchiladas Rancheras and another had a Quesabirra. Everyone devoured their meals - clean plate clubs. Chips and salsa served with refried beans that were warm and tasty, drinks were large and tasty too. Service was friendly and helpful, and the restaurant has a real family vibe. I would say this Mexican cuisine was no different than places like Azteca or La Fuente. The food was good (how different can one Mexican restaurant taste from another unless it's a different style) and prices were competitive. Service was friendly. Service - Very friendly and attentive folks who work here. Food - Got the Chimichanga with ground beef. The ground beef filling was delicious and well-seasoned. The salsa which came with the chips was fresh. The re-fried beans were great. The red rice was alright. I've had better rice at other mexican restaurants. Not so good - I love a good Horchata in general. But sadly, enough the horchata at this place was mediocre at best. While the flavor was fine, it just felt heavily watered down. Like whoever is in-charge of making it really decided to be SUPER CHEAP! Imagine you have chocolate powder meant for 1 glass of milk, but you decide to break that powder among 2 glasses of milk. Not gonna taste so good right? Exactly! Horchata is supposed to be a relatively cheap drink to make with a high profit margin already. Why do you folks have to dilute the heck out of an already cheap drink? Another not so good - I went here during core lunch hours on a weekend, like at 1pm. They decide to run the loud vacuum cleaner at this time! And not only that, but run it close to all the tables where folks are eating! Seriously now?? I don't enjoy having dust in my food, with the awfully loud background noise. I felt pretty irritated during the long 10 minutes that it lasted. You guys need to plan better, wake up a bit early, come into the restaurant an hour or so earlier, and do the preparation and cleaning. Not DURING business hours. It's clear that the management is either clueless or very new at running a restaurant. I may come back to this place another time to try something if I feel like it. If it's a better experience with drinks and indoor env, I'll bump the review to 4 or 5, or if it's still the same, I'll rate it lower. read more

Let me start of by saying how nice the staff was when we came in. We sat down and we got drinks started. I got the mango margarita and let me tell you, the size is not for the faint of heart! It was really good, more alcohol heavy but hey, who am I to complain! We got our food which was presented on ginormous plates! The portions are great especially for the price that you are paying. They were super big that we didn't get to finish it we had to take them to go. I would definitely come back here, their free salsa and chips is enough to get me hooked! The food was pretty good. The service was beyond terrible. 1) They seated us in the bar section and the bartender ended up being our server. He was rude..and hardly paid attention to us. Maybe because we don't drink? Or maybe because that's just his personality? 2) He gave us our chips and salsa before the meal (complimentary as usual for these types of places). You'll note from the other reviews most of the high ratings come from people who are from the Pacific Northwest whereas those of us from California and Texas (me) rate the food as very average. I guess it depends on the quality you're used to. What was especially disappointing was the abysmal service. Our server barely said a single word to us. Moved to rr area in August from Seattle and I was pleasantly surprised to find a good Mexican restaurant around here. Is a bit hidden from my perspective coming in from union hill; actually tried the restaurant over at qfc and thought I'd never find a Mexican restaurant I liked here. Ixtapa is fantastic, I highly recommend. I don't have children, so I prefer the bar section. The back patio is nice as well, pretty quiet despite being along the street plus the sunshades work well at keeping the temperature bearable on warm days. I have now become a regular as the staff know how I like my margarita, and they certainly treat regular customers well. (Granted, I never would have become a regular if they had not always been so good) read more

Finally checked out the neighborhood Mexican restaurant. The prices were a little steep compared to other Mexican restaurants we've been to. Most plates go for around $16-18, but the combination plates start at a little over $8 for one entree. Not bad. The salsa was very good, we ended up eating two baskets of chips and salsa. It was pretty slow in there but the entire waitstaff was very friendly. We had 3-4 different people helping us and checking in on us from time to time. Food came out and our plates were humongous! Usually, most Mexican restaurants give you a lot of food. This place gave us a truck load on a plate! There was so much food that I actually had to ask for a to-go-box. A rare thing for me.
