We've eaten here dozens of times -- easily -- and have never left disappointed. The carne asada is consistently fantastic, and their more traditional dishes are just as solid. Service is reliably friendly, efficient, and refreshingly genuine -- the kind of staff that actually seems to enjoy being there. The one miss? The margaritas. I've worked my way through every flavor, and unfortunately the base tastes suspiciously like Safeway syrup. For a place that does food this well, the cocktails feel like an afterthought. Ordered delivery with Uber Eats. $12 guacamole didn't arrive, chips so over-fried they aren't worth eating, two burritos, rice and beans were cold so we had to microwave them. Microwave food we just spent $146 on. It was a fast cook and fast delivery - ordered at 5:05pm and delivered at 5:30pm (we live close and I watched the driver come straight to us). It should have at least been lukewarm, so I'm not sure what happened there. Worst part is, when I called and spoke with the manager on duty to ask about the missing item and mention the cold food, she was defensive and flippant, placing blame on the driver immediately while simultaneously talking down to me (re: the cold food), 'well that happens with delivery. We have no control over the driver'. As if I've never had food delivered. She said to take up the charge for the missing item with Uber Eats - 'That's how it works. There's nothing we can do'. Not even a sincere apology for the undelivered item- Masa's mistake. We have frequented Masa since they opened, with mostly good experiences, but I think we're done. Great Service + Legit Spice (In a Good Way) Had a nice late lunch at Masa Mexican Kitchen with my wife and really enjoyed it. We sat ourselves in the bar and were greeted right away, with service from Krystina, which was excellent: quick, engaging, funny, and super attentive the whole time. Food: Adequate but not exciting food. As a New Mexico native, I would not call this Mexican food. Chips & Salsa - Either baked thin flour tortillas or mixed corn and wheat. Not very good, and several were soggy from spilled water. Salsa wasn't bad. I ordered the chili relleno plate. Not particularly authentic, but edible. Work late lunch, the starter with hot chips and salsa. I like the thick chips and I like blended salsa (not spicy) but good flavor. I ordered two steak tacos with bean and rice. I ate too much appetizers, guacamole and queso. We also got jalapeño's popper, it is not spicy however it was good. The steak tocos, steak was tender and it was marinated and tasty. I wish the beef was grilled little more. The corn or flour tortillas was good. My friends and I grabbed food at Masa after playing tennis at a nearby park last Friday. We were fortunate to get an outdoor table at 7pm and had just missed the heavy rush hour. As noted in my previous review, I was amazed by their CHICKEN MOLE (+$25) and so I decided to order it again. In the past, I've also ordered their CAMARONES A LA DIABLA, but thought it was just alright. Their WHITE SANGRIA though was quite refreshing and fruity. My companions ordered the CHICKEN ENCHILADAS (+$20) (tip: if you're indecisive between the Rojas and Verdes salsas, you can get 1/2 and 1/2) and the SEAFOOD ENCHILADAS (+$23). The CHICKEN MOLE was honestly less good than I remember... or maybe I've just had better mole in Burien and Des Moines. Some of the pieces of grilled chicken I had were burnt, but it was hard to distinguish which ones were and which ones weren't without tasting them since they were all covered with thick mole sauce. The mole sauce was both sweet, savory, and a little bit spicy, but not enough to cover up the burnt taste from the chicken. The side of rice was somewhat dry and needed the beans and side pico de gallo for moisture. Also, BEWARE the blistered jalapeño! I like spicy (like 4 or 5 star at Thai restaurants), but one bite of this grilled sucker had my mouth on fire for a good 10 minutes, even after drinking two cups of water and polishing off the rice and corn tortillas. I probably could've used some guacamole to cool my mouth down, but I wasn't willing to spend $11 for it. I will say the portion size of this dish was decent as I had enough leftovers for a couple of meals (just had to cut off some of the burnt parts). My friends enjoyed their enchiladas, but didn't think they were anything out of the ordinary. As my friend says, she and her sister come here solely for the complimentary TORTILLA CHIPS and SALSA, which I have to say, are the absolute BEST TORTILLA CHIPS I've ever had. They're made fresh in house and taste like thick wonton chips. These are definitely not your average Tostitos or Juanita's chips. The salsa is just mildly spicy and slightly sweet- I'd buy a jar of it for sure! Service was decent, but it took a bit for someone to come and get our orders. Our waiter came by to refill our waters and was friendly. We got our food within 15 minutes after ordering. The limited outdoor seating was nice, but some of the chairs are uneven and shaky (or maybe the sidewalk was uneven). food! They have plenty of indoor seating, but it can be kind of tight. In the summertime, there tends to be a lot of bees and flies flying around, so make sure to protect your food! Bathrooms are clean and well-maintained. Simply stated - sub-par food, poor service. There are so many other places to dine within walking distance in this village so i would recommend picking another place with better food. The chicken soft tacos were bland but spicy, which was confusing. The pico served on side was way too spicy for a pico. The tacos were so spicy, I couldn't eat them. I had ordered the warm chicken tortilla soup but i couldn't eat it since my mouth could not take any more burning. The waitress didn't even ask if there was an issue with the soup since it wasnt touched, but I suppose she did not care. But she should have asked - I tell you because it reflects the service we got from each employee there. And of course, she did not take the soup off the bill. Even though there was enough staff available, and they seemed to have time, we got to look at a huge unbussed, messy table the entire time we were there. When we arrived, we were taken to our two person seat but the host blocked out ability to actually sit down and filled our waters while we just awkwardly stood there waiting. Then, when we left, I literally walked next to the host for about 6-7 steps before he reached the host stand and he did not say a word to us as we left. No "thank you, etc." We will not return. And judging on the culture they seem to create based on their staff, I am guessing management won't read Yelp reviews or comment on them since I am sure they really don't care. read more

Onion-chilada. That's what comes to mind when I think about Masa. Located in Gilman Village, Masa has more character on the outside than in. Inside it's muted, neutral tones, and a few pictures that can easily be replaced. It is generic, spartan, and clean. The service was wonderful. Kirill was an amazing bartender and if for them I'd give five stars. Kirill was warm, friendly, and very welcoming. Managed to make drinks and keep the bar customers going - Kirill was a hard worker! Despite that I won't return. I ordered the seafood enchilada, a quickly becoming new favorite of mine. The description was "shrimp and cod, poblano cream sauce, flour tortillas" neglecting "and one full onion". I'm fairly certain for every minced piece of cod there were two onions to accompany it. Now, I can manage sautéed onions, cooked down to near vapor. I am ok with that. These were not. These were raw onions and were impossible to avoid. I couldn't taste any shrimp and the cod was diced so fine that the raw onion flavor drowned everything else out. I despise raw onions. They are my least favorite food and I couldn't escape them.
