    Old fashioned....highly recommend.

My husband and I love sushi! We don't always want to drive to Aspen to get the variety/quality we love so Izakaya is a good fallback for down valley. It's pretty consistent and if you're sitting at the bar everything comes out in a timely fashion. Zach is an awesome bartender and is always honest about new menu items. Yes, it's overpriced for what you get, but where we live that's not surprising at all. Per usual our drinks, pork buns, torched salmon, and uni were fantastic!

My boyfriend and I dined at Izakaya last week to celebrate our anniversary. Overall, we had a great dinner and it was a special way to celebrate our first year. As a Southern California native, I didn't have huge expectations for Colorado valley sushi, but Izakaya was just fine. PROS: - When we called to make the reservation, we briefly mentioned our anniversary. They gave us a semi-private table and a delicious free dessert at the end of our meal which was a great touch! - COVID protocols felt safe. All staff members were wearing masks and the tables were socially distanced. - Our server was very friendly. - The kobe steak entree was delicious (but the rice was weirdly crispy and not cooked well). CONS: - The sushi rolls were pretty tiny (barely larger than a quarter) and the fish wasn't the freshest. There wasn't any concern of food poisoning, but there was a fishy taste in our two rolls. Also, the Dynamite Popcorn Shrimp did not have a traditional preparation. If I order this dish, I'm expecting creamy, spicy-mayo goodness. It tasted OK, but I think I'd advertise it differently. - The dishes were a little funky. I thought the parmesan cheese on the shishito peppers was weird, but my boyfriend loved it. - The speed of service. Our reservation was at 7:30 on a Tuesday night. There were 4-5 other tables in the restaurant, but the service was extremely slow. There were at least 3 servers, but we were only checked on every 15 minutes or so. OVERALL: Izakaya Carbondale was just fine for its location and I would consider returning during non-COVID times. Definitely check it out if you're looking for sushi in the valley area.

The hostesses were very chatty amongst themselves. Server was attentive but the food were ok. Wasn't expecting much from an izakaya from the mountains but I had heard some good reviews from some colleagues so have it a try. Enjoyed the cocktail though.

This is one of the best Japanese restaurants that I have been to in quite some time. The atmosphere is incredible and the food is amazing. This is a must try if you are in the area.

Great menu and service was good. We enjoyed sushi and a salmon entree that was delicious. Sit outside if weather permits!

The ramen itself was average. The broth lacked the deep, rich flavor you'd expect from a long-simmered stock, which may be due to their short service window. The egg also wasn't prepared in the traditional ramen style, which was a little disappointing as it was an additional cost. One highlight was the iPad ordering system, it was super easy to navigate and honestly one of the best parts of the experience. Being able to order and request the bill without waiting made everything feel simple and efficient. The mochi dessert showed a variety of flavors in the photo, but when it arrived they were all vanilla. I wish we'd been given a heads-up about that. That said, the staff were really welcoming and knowledgeable. They made sure we had an endless supply of wasabi and ginger, which was thoughtful, and we definitely felt well taken care of. Ryan was a standout bartender and made sitting at the bar more enjoyable.

I have pretty high standards when it comes to sushi (I eat it often and I'm picky about freshness and quality), and everything we ordered was impressive. The uni was incredibly fresh and creamy with that clean ocean flavor (no weird aftertaste at all), and the o-toro was unreal -- buttery, rich, and melted instantly. The rest of the rolls and nigiri were also on point. Great fish quality, good rice texture, and everything tasted fresh and well-prepared. Service was solid and the overall vibe was exactly what you'd want after a day on the mountain. If you're in Snowmass and craving sushi, don't overthink it -- this place is absolutely worth it.

The best Besson soup I've ever had in my entire life and I go to sushi restaurants all the time!!! we were actually supposed to go to Aspen and go to a different sushi restaurant... But we were too lazy after our ski skiing all day so we just ended up staying in Snowmass and looked up sushi restaurants and honestly I'm very picky when it comes to sushi and both my husband and I were blown away... Pleasantly surprised!! first of all I can say is that the miso soup was incredible... The miso soup was probably the best miso soup I've had in my entire life. I mean it was phenomenal and also we had a couple rolls which were incredible and we sat at the bar at it was just a really great energy a great vibe... The fish was super fresh and it did not smell like sushi or fish inside the restaurant which was a good sign!! definitely way more higher than I anticipated!! I would come back here in a heartbeat!!! and our server was great and he was very attentive and it was just great great great great great great great

Both were fresh and a perfect way to begin the meal. For my entrée I had the salmon nigiri, scallop nigiri, a California roll, and bluefin nigiri, and each piece was outstanding. The fish was incredibly fresh, buttery, and clean-tasting with none of that overly "fishy" flavor you sometimes get- just pure, high-quality seafood that melts in your mouth. I also ordered a mocktail that was refreshing and well balanced, which was a nice touch. The waitress was very attentive and made sure everything was perfect throughout the meal. Even though the restaurant is on the smaller side, the quality of the food and the warm service make it a place I would absolutely recommend. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in beaver creek!

As I was finishing up I notice people coming 2:37pm, 2:45pm and 2:50pm and the same host that refused to serve us sat every one of them at a table.
