Hidden gem in Snowmass -- don't trust the low stars Honestly I'm confused why this place has such low ratings, because the sushi here was really good. I have pretty high standards when it comes to sushi (I eat it often and I'm picky about freshness and quality), and everything we ordered was impressive. The uni was incredibly fresh and creamy with that clean ocean flavor (no weird aftertaste at all), and the o-toro was unreal -- buttery, rich, and melted instantly. The rest of the rolls and nigiri were also on point. Great fish quality, good rice texture, and everything tasted fresh and well-prepared. Service was solid and the overall vibe was exactly what you'd want after a day on the mountain. If you're in Snowmass and craving sushi, don't overthink it -- this place is absolutely worth it. read more

An unexpected surprise!!! really great service very friendly staff cool very relaxed, ambience and hands-down. The best Besson soup I've ever had in my entire life and I go to sushi restaurants all the time!!! we were actually supposed to go to Aspen and go to a different sushi restaurant... But we were too lazy after our ski skiing all day so we just ended up staying in Snowmass and looked up sushi restaurants and honestly I'm very picky when it comes to sushi and both my husband and I were blown away... Pleasantly surprised!! first of all I can say is that the miso soup was incredible... The miso soup was probably the best miso soup I've had in my entire life. I mean it was phenomenal and also we had a couple rolls which were incredible and we sat at the bar at it was just a really great energy a great vibe... The fish was super fresh and it did not smell like sushi or fish inside the restaurant which was a good sign!! definitely way more higher than I anticipated!! We really enjoyed our visit. The place was really hopping when we arrived for our 8:00 resy. The guests at the table planned for us lingered and the hostess and manager did everything they could to make us comfortable and feel appreciated. We shared a bunch of small plates including the seaweed salad (very good), the Miso black cod (fabulous), Kushiyaki skewers/chicken (also fabulous), Boar Gyoza (incredibly light given the description), Hot Rock Combo (ok but a bit pricey for the serving size), and the Hawaiian and Kenichi Special rolls. The maki were good but the small plates were the star of the show. They import a good amount of fish from Japan giving Kenichi a more authentic feel but the menu is clearly designed to please a wider audience. I'd go back. read more

Food was meh. It was just ok. Be warned though: they add on a "gratuity" and "kitchen appreciation" onto all checks. I would avoid this place in the future just out of principle of adding 2 separate mandatory "gratuities" on the check. If I didn't get to choose it, then it wasn't a gratuity. UPDATE! I got a notice on my credit card thru open table and saw my tip amount was adjusted!!! That has to be illegal they went and added more to the tip amount. Got in contact with the manager and they refunded me for the part in question. Still won't be back but glad someone there has morals. Made a reservation here without looking at yelp. That was my first mistake....check in process was actually easy, they even provide coat check. The vibe is chill even though it's small but they make good use of the space. Following what the other reviewers have shared, the food actually is well prepared and quality of the fish was great. We had the Blake roll and dynamo rolls with miso soup and seaweed salad. What I will knock them on is the lack of wasabi given especially since we all ordered a roll each and this place wants to charge for sides of spicy mayo and extra wasabi. Luckily that wasn't additional on my bill because I would have said something. We probably won't come back here again since our hotel serves food and the pricing is much better. I think the rolls are about $6-8 over priced here. When I got my bill I did see the kitchen service charge which I'm not sure why restaurants don't acknowledge these things. Pretty solid sushi place - I don't know why the reviews are not better. We had a large sample of food and everything we ate was delicious.

Very expensive for sushi. Yes, it's a resort area but $20 for two pcs of nigiri is crazy and for rolls the portions are extremely small, and the lemon was overpowering. The fish in the rolls is pre/made/chopped so no pcs of fish on top. It's a one and done for me. Not super disappointed, but it's not Takh or Sushi-Den quality read more

Absolutely amazing sushi and I am so happy it has a location here in Snowmass Village. Sure it is pricey, but look where we are. we sat at the regular bar ( not to me mistaken for the regular sushi bar) you can eat at both. Our bartender was knowledgeable and on top of it. My drink was never empty and we never had to wait for him to refil water etc. We had tuna tataki ( delicious ) Salmon and ahi sashimi. ( cry good) and the special roll Kings Ransom. SO good. The restaurant is always pretty busy, but the wait goes quickly. Very delicious sushi. read more

Came here for dinner on a quick visit in the Aspen area. This sushi is worth the price tag! We sat at the sushi bar & enjoyed a variety of things: Miso soups Spicy edamame Yellowtail scallion roll Spicy tuna roll Nigiri combo All of these were fantastic! Also, one of the sushi chefs gave us a couple little samples to try between the plates we ordered. It was AMAZING! All of the staff were very kind, friendly, & welcoming. Good, but nothing special. Way overpriced and we know Aspen Snowmass ski food pricing. Classic rolls are $15-18 and are tiny, about a quarter coin size, no joke. Only 6 cut rolls and maybe 7 inch long if you put it together. I had better at a supermarket . Specialty rolls were good and almost regular size rolls. I would rather pay more and get standard size rolls. Would not come back or recommend. No wonder it was half empty . There's also a kitchen appreciation they tack onto the bill without asking. Have been to Kenichi a handful of times and it's always a treat. Food is a 10/10 and vibe is great.

A welcome addition to Snowmass and the first high end restaurant in Snowmass' Base Village. The nigiri was excellent. Kenichi also has a long list of rolls that are very good. I recommend the Blake roll and try an order of the gyoza. Kenichi has many tables for larger parties and a lively bar scene. read more

Expensive but terrible sushi. Other dishes are terrible too. The fish portions are just so minuscule. The rice was pretty bland, definitely not proper "shari" (sushi rice). The tab was well over $100 a person. In comparison my airport sushi (Narita and Haneda airports) were 100x better at a fraction of the cost. Belt conveyer sushi in Tokyo was way better, even the cheap places. The sushi here is just about on par with City Market take-out. Those of you who rate this place 5 stars, you've never had proper sashimi or sushi. Ambiance is very nice and schwanky. How fortunate is Snowmass to have a sushi restaurant of this quality. We have had 5 star Sushi in Tokyo that was not as delicious as Kenichi. The vibe is sophisticated & warm with really good energy . Yes the shrimp dynamite will melt in your mouth. We are avid sushi fans and eat sushi at least once a week. The fish was good with lots of traditional offerings and some good specials (kanpachi, medai, etc). There aren't a lot of good restaurants for dinner in Snowmass village so this is one of the best but prices are ridiculously high. $13-16 for 2pc basic sushi (tuna, salmon) $18-22 for the special sushi. Our bill for 2 including a glass of wine and small bottle of sake was $350. Servers and sushi chefs were professional and on point. It was a good dinner but I could have had some of the best omakase in the country for this price. read more

When the bill was returned for signature, the amount was different. A 22% tip had been added but not disclosed, and below the new total was a tip line. We went tonight to celebrate seeing some old friends. We were greeted by the manager, Dane, who suggested some items. Since he was so familiar with the menu we asked him to just select items for us and we would let him know when we had enough.
