This was probably the closest spot in town to grab ramen after a day on the slopes. They only serve ramen from 4:30-5:30pm, which felt a bit odd, especially in winter when it's such a perfect post-ski meal. The sushi was good, but in my opinion, not quite worth the price. The ramen itself was average. The broth lacked the deep, rich flavor you'd expect from a long-simmered stock, which may be due to their short service window. The egg also wasn't prepared in the traditional ramen style, which was a little disappointing as it was an additional cost. One highlight was the iPad ordering system, it was super easy to navigate and honestly one of the best parts of the experience. Being able to order and request the bill without waiting made everything feel simple and efficient. The mochi dessert showed a variety of flavors in the photo, but when it arrived they were all vanilla. I wish we'd been given a heads-up about that. That said, the staff were really welcoming and knowledgeable. They made sure we had an endless supply of wasabi and ginger, which was thoughtful, and we definitely felt well taken care of. We had a great experience here the other night. We snagged a couple of bar seats right around 4:30, to take advantage of the 4:30-5:30 happy hour. This place is super cute inside - it has a mountain cabin feel, with an Asian flair. The bartenders were great, and very friendly. Ordering was a very fun, unique experience - it's all done through a tablet. Loved that the tablet had descriptions, as well as photos, of the food and beverages. Once submitted, our drinks came out very quickly, and the food followed shortly after that. We started with the hamachi carpaccio - yellowtail sashimi, serrano pepper, micro greens, jalapeño oil and yuzu ponzu - delicious! Then we had the chicken potstickers which came in a really delicious soy/mayo sauce. From there - we had three more rolls - two of which were specialty rolls with shrimp in them (one of them was hair of the dog) - it was delicious with strings of shredded California crab on the outside, shrimp tempura and avocado on the inside, spicy mayo and soy - super flavorful, largely portioned, and delicious. Solid experience. We came on a Thurs night around 6:30PM and were able to grab the last table outside. There was a little sticker shock on the price of the rolls....but also acknowledged the challenges of serving fresh food in CB. We ordered Edaname ($8), Red Lady ($32), Mt Yotei ($32), Izakaya Tiger ($32) and the Handlebar ($24)....and the everyone raved about the non sushi Handlebar as the top roll with the Izakaya Tiger as the second favorite rolls. Wow. I wish I had taken some pictures, but was too busy enjoying the food after a day of skiing. Warm sake hit the spot, along with their phenomenal miso soup, before the most tender tuna nigiri I have ever had. We tried a couple of specialty rolls that were amazing. The new mexican gunslinger had green chile and shrimp tempura, absolutely brilliant. And then the chile crisp on the CB with salmon on top was one of the best rolls I have ever had. I've been to Crested Butte several times but never seen this restaurant before. It's tucked away just off the main street in town. I would recommend they put up Some type of signage showing where they're location. I even had a hard time finding it with the address in the GPS. I made reservations (which is a MUST) several weeks in advance and still didn't get the exact time I wanted. It ended up working out just fine. I showed up on time and was seated right away. I made reservations at the sushi bar which was great because I got to chat with the chefs and was able to see them prepare a bunch of different rolls. They're ordering system is really efficient. You order what you want on the tablet at the table and the food comes out right away. The food was soooo good I couldn't stop eating!! I just kept ordering and ordering and ordering. This review is mostly regarding their happy hour. They have great prices on their drinks & food. We usually get sushi rolls ($10) & this time we got the fries & they were so good! Also a warm carafe of sake is only $5! The service is really great too, super friendly & attentive. Fridays is "Aloha Friday" & if you wear something Hawaiian you get something free on happy hour but I don't remember what. And I think happy hour only applies to sitting in the bar area. First of all, I love crested Butte, so I'm always on the look out for some good food here. I have some favorite spots and Izakaya Cabin is now one of them! I loved the space- super vibrant with gorgeous art. The tables had a wood panel in the middle to elevate the food and make it easier to share, so really loved the attention to detail. Our server was so next level. He was so engaged and interactive and really offered guidance with the menu. The food was unreal. I'm a sucker for dumplings and cucumber salad and I was so pleased with their sauces and seasonings on both! We got nigiri as well, but our rolls were the stand out. What a surprisingly great place! Sometimes I'm cynical of sushi in a very landlocked place but Izakaya Cabin completely nails it. The location is awesome, right on the main drag. Super cool little building that really does feel like a cabin. Came here with a couple buddies, we got the 'Ninja' omakase service and everything was really really good. There were a lot of highlights but the fried rice appetizer was fantastic as were each of the rolls. Don't miss the Pablo Escolar roll, it was definitely a highlight. The service was great, they were very attentive and all the staff certainly worked as a team to ensure that everything was taken care of quickly. We had a family reunion dinner here and although it was crazy expensive, it was perfect! The server was helpful and responsive. The food was delicious- we are kind of sushi snobs and agreed this was some of the best we have ever had! They also offered some delightful saki- none of us had ever liked saki in the past but we are now big fans. Who would expect that from a restaurant in the middle of the mountains? The decor is lovely and hip...we sat upstairs but they have a wonderful patio and often feature live music. Just got back from a trip to CB. I wish I had gotten to this place sooner. Went in on a Wednesday night around 6 pm and got our group of 9 in right away into the bar area. The sushi bar and upstairs are by reservation from what I was told. We liked the iPad ordering. Before it got real busy, we would have our drinks and sushi orders within a couple of minutes and it was still reasonably quick as it got busier. We liked that we could order additional rolls and drinks as we wanted and the servers all seemed to work well together to get us our order. We shared several rolls- Red Lady, CB Monster, Barcelona and the Shaggy Dog(for a couple that prefer tempura rolls). We also had the toro, maguro and hamachi from the sashimi menu. I may be forgetting a few items because we ate quite a bit. It was all great. My daughter said it was her favorite meal we had in CB and was the best sushi she has ever had. Two of the friends that ate, both said it was better than Lil's, the old sushi spot in the same location. Me and a buddy dropped in the next night before our dinner down the street with the wives and kids and shared more sashimi and the tuna tartare. The place is THAT good! read more
