After a monsoon came through with hail and cooler temps last week, I was craving some ramen. We were staying at Glenwood Springs Hotsprings and walked over the bridge to find Kedai. We had read some reviews that the ramen was a small portion, so I was surprised to see the good sized portion that they served us! My son got the Katsu Chicken with the avocado salad. He loved both. The husband ordered the bento box which was perfect because he couldn't decide what to get, so it was a little bit of everything. The food was great! The service was a little rushed because they were busy, but our server was personable and friendly. There was a birthday at another table, and it was fun to have the entire restaurant join in on singing. They also had a fun animal headband for the birthday girl. It was a little pricey and cost us about $120 for 4 people (not including tax) but it was good, and I'd recommend it to anyone visiting the area. read more

We were really disappointed in Kedai Carbondale Location. Based on all of the 5-star reviews, we expected this to be a spectacular meal, but unfortunately it was the opposite. We ordered a few sushi rolls, a bento dinner box, and a Thai iced tea. When everything arrived, all of the sushi had been packed together and was completely smushed, so instead of everyone enjoying their own rolls, we had to pick through each other's food. It wasn't presented well at all. The sushi itself was about a 2/10. The cuts of fish weren't very good, the rolls were falling apart, and the quality just wasn't there. The bento dinner was honestly disappointing. The salmon was very dry, and the vegetable spring roll was undercooked and inedible. Just look at the picture, that is not $21 worth of food, so disappointed! Even the Thai iced tea wasn't sweet. We spent close to $200, so we expected much better quality and care. If you happen to skip this "I don't even know what they are trying to be" restaurant during your next getaway trip to Glenwood Springs, you are not missing out. It looks creative in a way that they combine two different cuisines and cultures (Vietnamese and Japanese to say it exact) and yet what they came up with is nothing but a tourist trap place that lacks authenticity. It's on the second floor of a building. The restaurant is clean and spacious with ample tables and chairs. Since we were there well outside of the busy lunch hour, we got the employees' undue attention. And they were quite welcoming and friendly. The food? Meh. Everything we got lacked the true authenticity. -Lunch Nigiri: The four nigiris simply didn't look fresh. Fortunately however, they didn't taste bad. And yet the overall quality was mediocre at best. This combo plate came with a salad and a soup (called Japanese soup). The salad was the worst out of all where it looked and tasted old and stale. And the soup? It wasn't a miso soup. It's a clear broth soup. But my question was, "What's Japanese about it anyway?" -Agedashi tofu: They really need to work on the "presentation" more. This skimpy looking dish simply didn't look good. It surprisingly didn't taste bad but it failed to impress us. Another mediocre dish. -Thai tea with boba: My daughter didn't care for it at all. I took a sip of it. It tasted a bit too bitter where the tea appeared to have been over-brewed. Yikes! The three stars might be a bit too much of an inflated assessment. And yet I appreciated the friendliness of the employees so 1 additional star is the manifestation of my sincere gratitude to them. read more

Kedai is conveniently located in downtown Glenwood springs (please note it's on the second floor) so it was an easy choice as we craved some pho and ramen after spending all morning at the hot springs (and it was a cold day). The menu has lots of different options and we tried some appetizers (calamari and sushi) as well as Pho and spicy ramen noodle. Everything was pretty average. I thought the flavor was lacking. The egg was in my ramen was fully hardboiled (instead of soft boiled), which they forgot at first but then brought 1/2 of an egg after I asked about it. Our family had dinner here while visiting Glenwood Springs for spring break. We went on a busy Friday night, but the wait for a table wasn't too long. It is upstairs in a building with other stores, which was an interesting location. The decor and atmosphere was fairly typical of a sushi focused restaurant, and had a great table around the sushi bar, another set alone bar, and several tables for regular dining. The menu has plenty of variety of noodles, soups, and other typical Asian dishes with a big emphasis on sushi. There is also a bento box option for a variety of things to include a selection of a classic roll. Two in our group ordered the bento boxes and one ordered the ramen. Let me tell you it is a struggle to talk my husband and son into eating sushi, but they enjoyed every piece we ordered! My son loved the ramen! For the most part, we enjoyed the bento boxes, but the teriyaki chicken felt like it was the fake chicken strips from a bag rather than freshly cooked real chicken breast. This why there are four stars instead of five. The service was phenomenal and the entire staff was a team for clearing plates, delivering food, and ensuring we were well cared for. Not sure how this place has the reviews it has but.... 1. Upon walking in, there's a rack of random clothing for sale. Not to mention an abandoned bar area with a bunch crap on it, like where they do the silverware roll ups and bunch of other random crap. 2. We proceeded to sit since we saw there was quite a bit of people here so we gave it a chance. 3. The service was quick but food was mediocre at best, kind of tasteless (Kedai roll, edamame). The service was so quick, to its detriment, that we weren't even done with our food before some other dude that wasn't our waiter came up to us and gave us the check. Dude didn't even ask if we wanted something else or wanted dessert. Needless to say we quickly bounced after this. There are not many options in this town for sushi but just in case you're reading this, there's a place across the street called Ming's, that looked much better. Service was attentive and quick. I liked that he repeated back the order and I typically don't. My guest recommended the soy wrapper for the sushi. He once lived in Japan and apparently this is an always option at sushi restaurants. It has changed my life completely. I'm not a huge fan of this cuisine and this meal was great. However, the three stars is for the bento box. The teriyaki steak sauce was so thick and tasted of corn starch and steak was fatty. The gyoza dumplings were flaccid. But the deep fried tofu appetizer was GREAT. Just needed salt. I would absolutely return. Awesome lychee martini. My suggestion is to not try and order cheap. As soon as we were about to order, they then told us that they were only able to split the check 3 ways. We had a group of 13+. When the call was made, it should've been communicated that the payment method can't be split more than 3 ways. Truly disappointing because they missed out on some money! We made a reservation at Kadai in Glenwood Springs for a group of 11, which eventually grew to 18 people. We called ahead and confirmed our plans, but when we arrived, the staff refused to split the check the way we requested. They told us they could only divide the bill three ways and were completely unwilling to work with us, even after we explained the situation. This was supposed to be a fun group dinner, but instead it turned into a frustrating and uncomfortable experience. Because they wouldn't accommodate a simple request, they ended up losing out on a bill of over $1,000. We left disappointed and won't be returning. If I could leave a ZERO star I could. read more

TLDR: Do not go for pho, it's possible their Japanese food is acceptable. I had qualms going to a place that specialized in Vietnamese and Japanese cuisine and those concerns were unfortunately confirmed. Their bubble tea is half air and foam. The pho broth was as concentrated as water kissed by a cow fart, quite possibly the weakest broth I have ever tasted. The broth is served near room temperature so your noodles will be under cooked and your meat will remain raw. Also they ration the siracha so you can't even try and save it by drowning it with that. They will also serve the pho without utensils... I guess they think it's a finger food. The amount of pho for the price is so little you'll need a second dinner to equal one meal. Over all, one of the worst culinary experiences ever. We definitely will not be going back. read more

Now we eat here every time we come to Glenwood. The sushi is delicious - and served in a boat if you'd like! The ramen was the perfect thing after a cold day and everything feels reasonably priced to boot. The seating is ample for big groups or smaller ones. My friends and I wanted soup after a long day on the slopes and saw that Kedai has ramen, udon, AND pho !? We were sold. We arrived and were seated immediately by a very friendly host (actually, everyone working here was SUPER friendly - the service was great). After absolutely agonizing over the soup options (the classic ramen vs udon vs pho debate), two of us decided on udon, one person got ramen, and one person got pho (which worked out great because we all got to taste everything). We also got some nigiri to start, which was delicious, and I got the lychee martini, which was sweet and fruity and tasty. The soups came, and we were delighted to find there was no weak spot! They do all three soups equally well, and we were all pleased with what we got (bonus: the shrimp in my udon was cooked perfectly). I was passing through Glenwood and had a hankering for ramen. Turns out there is a place just upstairs near Doc's saloon. The signs are pretty clear on where to go. I was one of just a few people there on Friday. My server came quickly and offered me water. I scanned the QR code for the menu and then ordered the shio ramen. It hit the spot. It was a decent portion, but I wouldn't say I was full afterwards. I think it was $15? I think that is a fair price. The noodles were cooked right, and all the other stuff was good too. I really like the broth though. Oh and the ramen egg. It wasn't mind blowing, I'd call it more satsifactory. The sushi looked nice and some of the other people there had bento boxes. If you're looking for fancy Japanese food or really good ramen, then you're probably better off somewhere else, but I'm not sure there is somewhere that is better that is close. We had a big family lunch here. Wonderful food. Sushi, sashimi, rolls, ramen, edamame, takoyaki, Japanese style fried rice. All very, very good! We liked the spin of grilled pork in the shiyo ramen. The lychee martini was great. Our servers were friendly and made made the meal fun for the adults and for the toddlers. Excellent service! The space on the second floor is open and airy. Very cool atmosphere located on the second floor of one of the main buildings downtown Glenwood Springs. The staff was very friendly and the service was great. We made sure we ordered at least 5 different modern rolls so we could get a sushi boat! I can't remember the specific names of our rolls since so many were our servers suggestions, but they were all tasty. Our only complaint was that every roll was very spicy, even the ones that weren't marked as such on the menu. I usually enjoy sushi with a kick but these were very over the top spicy and it was tough to finish our boat. The pricing was reasonable for large rolls and for a touristy mountain town. Kedai is located in a shopping complex, on level 2. We had vegetarian spicy miso ramen, avacado sushi and vegetarian fried rice with vegetables and tofu. The vegetarian food was delicious and packed with flavors. Could taste the spice, heat and the spices. Enjoyed the food and staff was friendly and attentive. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for vegetarian food, but there were not too many options. I really wanted to like this place. The wait staff was eager to please and that's why I gave my review one star. My BFF ordered the lunch Bento Box with chicken teriyaki. The waiter "confirmed" order with shrimp teriyaki. No, we corrected him, "with chicken teriyaki". I ordered Veg Pho. A plate of chicken teriyaki arrived in glutinous sauce. Meat had factory stamped grill marks with injected seasoning. We asked about the rest of the bento box items and our waiter said we ordered chicken teriyaki. He apologized but there was no attempt to remediate the order. The Pho broth was weak and watery. I pulled out the old bruised mushrooms which joined the pile of tired brown bean sprouts, dry limes and basil with black rot spots. Again, we got an apology. Too little too late. read more

This is as close as you will get to Japanese dishes. I went to Shimukkappu, Japan and I miss the food there; especially ramen and miso soup! This is the only place that is as close to Japan's dishes as far as flavor and texture. The servers are so kind and funny! They're always on top of it when someone asks for more or when cleaning tables. The ambiance is kind of western/modern asian theme, it does get full quite a lot during weekends, so plan in advance! It is absolutely one of my most favorite restaurants to go! I use to go almost every weekend as an our family restaurant day. I promise you, the food does not disappoint! read more
