So my bf had seen this place and it was delicious! Their lunch menu looked really reasonable ($14 for three rolls plus soup and salad). We, however, got there too late and had the dinner menu. We tried the pub fries, which had spicy mayo, pork belly chunks, and pork grinds. SO GOOD! Like Asian fries haha. I had the fire dragon which was absolutely warm and delicious. My bf had the trust me roll which had tuna, yellowfin and something else. It was also absolutely delicious. The sushi rolls were filling and in the ~$15 range. We went to try the sushi. I tried the Trust Me roll where the chef makes you something random. I just requested they use no coconut for anything due to allergies. It was delicious! My husband got the sashimi plate which had several different pieces including octopus which was surprisingly tasty too. They also had a unique selection of on tap beer. My only reason for 4 stars is the price. For the money I spent I could have gotten twice as much food (alcohol included) at any of our delicious go to sushi places. Only negative was price. I came here with a friend on opening night. We got two very different varieties of sushi which were super diverse and tasted great. We also got the pork belly appetizer. Izzy's had a pretty good drink special ($4/glass of wine), although I would not call it a "pub." More like a sushi place with a few draft beers. We have been here a couple of times. The first time was for lunch and we had their bowls which were good. The second time was for dinner and we had sushi. My husband ordered the sushimi plate which was supposed to come with 12 pieces. 4 of those pieces were artificial crab meat. We asked whether the sushi chef counted that as sushimi and were told yes. I have never been to a sushi place where they considered artificial crab meat to be sushi. We were really disappointed. They comped is for a house saki, but my husband was hungry and we had to go get pizza afterwards. We will not be back. Also, my sushi did not taste very fresh. read more

I would have been okay if he was professional and polite and said that he apologizes and that he couldn't fill it higher. Went here for the first time, I found the sushi to be pretty overpriced for what was... then again that means it just fits right in with Wineloft and Table 23 in that respect. But seriously, the sushi was just not that good. A lot of the photos on here look way better than what we were served, so maybe they were just in a rush? Finding Ankimo is rare in general and this monkfish liver was excellent. The Sunday omakase was booked up a month out so I didn't get a chance to try it, but if it's as good as the sushi I had, it should be equally impressive. Service was prompt and pleasant. Nice tiny little sushi spot bar seating with two booths and a few tall tables. As we arrived several where leaving so almost empty. By the time we sat down and turn around it was full. I usually hate tight or small spots but this wasn't bad. It had the best salmon sashimi in Tally so far. The vibe was pretty cool for tiny bar with some good music in the background. Nice for a solo run or small date or group. The drinks and appetizers choices where great. Everything was fresh and extremely flavorful. Overall a nice place will be going back again. Five stars for the edamame hummus. The rest of the experience...I guess one star. I love sushi, and this experience was just awful. The worst sushi I've ever had. In addition to the horrible tasting sushi, I found something clear, looked like plastic in my sushi, and the server did not know what it was either. We thought they might try to accommodate for the foreign object in my sushi, apologize, something...but no, I had to pay $19 for an unappealing sushi roll and this strange object in it. Excellent sushi in Midtown Tallahassee. Marissa was our waitress and she was great! The saki is delicious and their beer specials were $1 PBR and $3 bud lights! They let me customize my own roll and their homemade spicy mayo is killer! The manager even gave us complimentary Edomame because he messed up an order. Great lunch special too, this place is definitely going to be a hit! Only complaint I have is that the restaurant is very small and they wouldn't let me make a reservation on the weekend. Simply fresh and awesome! It's definitely the place to hangout and have great food! Unfortunately the food takes a long time... so if you are hungry, maybe this is not the place. We've been here 45 minutes and we didn't get our food. They do not have enough people in the kitchen and the ones in the kitchen are working non stop. It's a pity because it's a great location but they are not keeping up with the pace of a Friday night. The server Aaron decided to switch things up on us and bring our sushi out before our soup and salads. . . Was eating my second roll and he decided that was a good time to bring me my hot soup. I am a chef and critical of every restaurant I go to but I have to say this was by far the worst sushi spot I have been to in Tally. Will not be returning to give them a second chance which I normally would do. EDIT REVIEW 10/5/17: After checking my bank account recently, I have noticed that Izzy's added an $11 tip to my tab without my consent. I specifically tipped $1 due to my horrible experience at this restaurant (which I never do, as I've said before, I work in the food service industry and understand the importance if tipping well), and they chose to add an additional 20%+ gratuity without my knowledge or approval. By chatting with the chief, they have special fishes imported from Japan, and more special dishes on the way. Good: Great sashimi fish quality and premium roll creativity -- especially the Trust Me Roll. The mackerel and salmon had robust flavor and texture. Bad: Poor customer service. The wait staff would prefer to smoke out front and talk with each other instead of caring for customers. Drinks went without refills, orders sat on the sushi bar without delivery, and the check took forever. The edahummus appetizer lacked flavor. The spicy tuna roll was on par with Publix. Worse: They are not child-friendly. We got odd looks bringing our toddler into the restaurant from the waitstaff. It took a couple minutes until someone asked if we wanted a high chair and brought us one. Drinks and plates were then placed immediately in front, within reach, of our child. They also are one of the few restaurants in Tallahassee to not have a changing table or comparable flat surface in the restrooms, requiring an inconvenient trip to the car for a diaper change. read more

I have now been back 3 times and enjoyed many items. Still I have a love affair with there black bean sauce. However this time I was there and got to witness there Omakase event where they ship in the freshest of fish from Japan and masterfully prepare each dish/course right in front of you making note of each flavor profile your respond to. I saw presentations that made my mouth water including one flavor prepared inside an orange.They started the meal off providing you a hot towel to cleanse your hands in preparation of there meal. The gentleman whom participated in the event next to me seemed to be very impressed by the macrel and very much enjoyed the special soy sauce they used for each roll. Pretty good place! It's new, however, and there are some kinks to work out. A group of my friends and I went around 8:30pm for dinner. There were about ten of us and we sat outside. We had about three servers that worked with us and they were all fairly attentive, one of them was even the owner. However, it took a while to get everyone's drink orders and then it took even longer to get everyone's food orders. They were out of a lot of the drinks and many of the signature sushi rolls. When the food came out, it all came out over probably 30-40 minutes. That made it uncomfortable because many people either had to eat when other people didn't have their food or wait to eat and their food got cold. They did bring out some edamame because the food was taking so long, which was nice. I got something from the bar menu (hummus and edamame dip with garlic bread) and something from the sushi menu (rice wrapped in tofu skin). The tofu skin was not very good but the hummus edamame dip was DELICIOUS! I shared it with my boyfriend and it would have been a great appetizer. They closed at 10pm but around 9pm they had told us that the sushi bar was taking a while making rolls they wouldn't kick us out at 10. We left around 10:30pm. Everyone who had sushi liked it and the waiter told me that (as I am a vegetarian and all the rolls included seafood of some variety) I would be able to build my own roll if I wanted. All in all, I would come back again but not so close to closing and not with a group of large people. read more

First time here and it's quite good. Smaller space than a couple of my fave sushi joints but i liked the ambience and there is outside seating. The service was fast and the sushi was good, although the rolls are a bit smaller than most. They have sushi lunch specials, with a choice of 2 or 3 rolls that comes with miso soup and salad, and rice bowl specials. There's an up charge for lunch specials if your sushi item is not on the lunch special menu. Good experience overall and I'll be back to try other items on the menu. read more

I can say it is the best sushi place in this area. Trust me sushi roll is better than any others I had before!! It is really amazing. The pub fries are really good!!! The only thing I don't quite satisfied is that they should make sure they can serve what they have in the menu. The first time I went there with my boyfriend, I was very excited and I wanted to try three dishes there. However they served none of them that day. The second time, they still did not have Korean short ribs. But they had beef tataki that time, and it is delicious! I am still waiting for the Korean short ribs.
