In an area known for amazing beer, it's great there are also beer bars featuring local breweries. This one was a fun visit, it's a cozy old vibe, but with modern bar and alcohol showcased in a classy way. They have outdoor seating and also big open windows for fresh air. I didn't have food on my visit but looking at tables nearby everything looked big and delicious. I sat at the bar and appreciated the outlets. The tap list was long; they don't do flights but the bartender was friendly and let me do a few half pours to try some breweries I wouldn't make it to on that trip. Prices were reasonable as well. I loved that it overlooks Santa Rosa's main square, in a warmer month I'm sure it's a great spot to people watch and enjoy the fresh air. read more

We been here watching games and drinks at the bar mostly, lots of TV's. But this place is pretty amazing at Xmas, the decorations are amazing! Our server was excellent! The food is always spot on here, we tried the NEW chipotle ranch chicken sandwich, so good! Holiday drink menu is very creative, only deducted a star because seats at the tables are easy to clean I guess (metal) but uncomfortable, and made for shorter people, felt like my knees were higher then the seat when I sat down, I'm 5'8. But overall great place and a DJ some nights too. read more

Cute place all dressed up for the holidays! They have happy hour from 2-6pm which is great. We had tacos and a burger. I did ask for the hamburger to be cooked medium and it did come out well done. By the time I got half way done with my red wine I realized there were 4 little gnats in it which either came to the table like that or flew in once at the table. It's unclear what happened but it wasn't the end of the world. We did like the food and will give it another shot someday because it was a great little spot. Our waitress disappeared after she took our order and we never saw her again and we had to ask another to get our check. Maybe it was just an off night? read more

The food was amazing! We went for brunch on a Sunday and got great seats outside. The staff was so attentive and Nicole was incredibly nice. We ordered the chipotle ranch chicken sandwich and the brunch version of fried chicken and waffles (x2). I also had a couple Bellinis. Everything was wonderful and we will definitely be back for more! read more

Super fun place! We ate tacos at the bar & chatted with one of the bartenders, Jesse, while he was making beautiful cocktails for people nearly non-stop. Sorry, no taco pics but tyey're bigger than street tacos A bit pricey but really good & the copper bar is super cool plus the wall... literally a wall of alchohol lit up behind the bar and bar tenders use an old rolling library style ladder to access the bottles when needed. The chicken tacos are good but the carnita tacos were outstanding after a 2 hour drive up from Los Gatos. Street parking is easy, especially if you don't mind walking a block or two. Downtown spots are metered but 3 blocks away they're free and actually there are parking garages nearby as well. I would go back again for sure. read more

I went here for lunch and I ordered their pasta Alfredo. The pasta was all right for my personal preference. I feel like it needed a lot more flavor and salt. However, I will say I've had their steak dish before and it is a lot better. The only reason I didn't get it this last time was because I wanted something light. The bread that came on the pasta was actually pretty good . Service was great every time I've come here the service is always on point . The servers are always very nice and accommodating. This spot is definitely a mellow vibe during lunch. It's also reasonable. I mean it wasn't too shabby. read more

I went here for brunch with girlfriends. We walked in and second guessed our brunch decision as there was only one other table with two people eating. This is a great place for tacos! Especially carnitas! I ordered chicken and those were good but the ones my boyfriend ordered, carnitas, are the absolute best. We sat at the bar. We love bar seating! We had the opportunity to meet one of the cooks, Adrian. We made sure to compliment him on the delicious tacos. Super friendly guy! Chris, Jesse, and Jake were also really interesting guys working there. Seems like one huge happy work family. The one lace was lively yet you can still hear each other talk without the need to raise our voices. I had a red glass of wine and ended up having a vodka cocktail. Specially made by the bartender. Secret ingredients. Maybe just ask for a special order if you're looking for a vodka drink. The prices are very reasonable. They only have street parking, but that wasn't an issue because we parked a very block away. Looking forward to going back for those carnitas tacos! read more

I've had Yelp for years and never felt the need to leave a review until now. The female bartender we had tonight was very rude and had a bad attitude from the start. We came in happy and just wanted to order a drink. When we went up to the bar, we couldn't hear her and asked her to repeat herself. She got upset about that. My friend calmly mentioned that her attitude felt rude, and that seemed to make things worse. It felt like she was trying to ruin our night, but we didn't let it. I would suggest looking into this because she didn't just have a problem with us. After we left and were in our car, she was yelling things at us and acting very unprofessional. We didn't say anything back. If it had only happened with us, I might have thought it was just a misunderstanding. But less than five minutes later, she was having the same issue with another group. That made it clear that the problem wasn't us. read more

We booked a year in advance to have a family reunion brunch for 30 people. I confirmed several times - 4 days prior we learned they did not have us scheduled at all. I had spoken to the site and corp at least 3 times. We had a mtg & they came up with all Kinds of fees never discussed. As I walked out they said wait maybe we can waive the fees. The whole year they quoted the per person fee and wanted it on one credit card. It was basically a shake down. read more

Husband and I were eager for lunch at Mac's Deli.... Only to discover they were closed on Sundays. We were both starving and saw that Beer Baron was just a few feet away so we decided to check it out. It was a nice day so we opted to sit out on their covered patio. My husband chose their "Heatstroke" sandwich which was basically a spicy fried chicken sandwich, and I went with their pesto chicken sandwich. Food was served relatively quickly and everything looked great. My husband said his sandwich was very good but not really spicy. My sandwich had great flavor - I loved the combo of avocado and pesto- however my chicken had a strange texture, like hard rubber. I don't think it was any fault of the restaurant, just that the quality of the chicken wasn't stellar. It happens- I've had chicken like that in my own home. Everything else tasted great and we loved our fries (I upgraded to the garlic fries which were amazing). Service was nice and attentive. Atmosphere was nice aside from the flies (but what can you do when you're outside- perhaps some fans would be helpful). Their bar inside was gorgeous and I would absolutely return to check that out, and I'd happily return for food again. read more

Almost empty on a Saturday at 4pm. Sat outside because wanted to enjoy the lovely 80* Summer afternoon. 5 minutes after we settled in some irritating zealot starting blasting how were all going to hell over a portable PA system at the park next door. Just great. There were sirens blaring on fire trucks and police cars off to an emergency and coupled with the general outside noise and the obnoxious zealot...not pleasant ambiance. Could have gone inside but even with doors open it was stagnant and too warm inside. So we endured the chaos on the outdoor patio instead. Bar food menu. Wings are described as oven roasted...yet when you ask one waiter to the next they will tell you they have recently been changed. And are deep fried. But not breaded. Perfect. We ordered plan with sauce on the side. Juicy wings w good flavor just "bare" really good. Beyond burger with garlic fries. SKIP the garlic fries. $2 up charge. Fries a bit raw. The garlic chopped abd plopped on top...also raw... So...yuck. Pineapple hard cider on tap. Very good. Yes to wings and pineapple cider. The veggie burger and fries I wouldn't order again. I came here by myself and sat at the bar. The service was great. All the bartenders were working together and all had a positive attitude. Everything was clean and the dim lighting was nice. We ordered the appetizers. The calamari was OK. Not the best that I tasted but possible. The guacamole was very good and the sweet chili wings were very tasty. The french fries were average. The service was OK but very slow. I had to ask twice for water. My friend had to send his drink back because they use the wrong type of whiskey, but they did fix it so that was good. Paloma is good and so is the Espresso Martini. The onion rings have fine corse breading giving it an extra crunch . All good stuff . A little slow on the service in the beginning then attentive. Downtown Santa Rosa has great restaurants to walk to on cool, breezy nights in the summer and fall. Beer Baron is located right next to the downtown court square, with a patio overlooking Fourth Street. Our waitress was attentive and friendly, checking on us frequently and always making sure we had what we needed. The Kale quinoa salad with grilled chicken breast was delicious and refreshing. With a citrus vinaigrette and fresh herbs and cranberries on top, the salad was filled with flavor and was filling as a meal. The chicken was cooked well, with great flavor and moisture that went well with the citrus and herb flavors. The western burger was a large meal, so come hungry. The burger came with caramelized onions and onion rings on it with a sweet and tangy BBQ sauce. The burger was cooked medium rare and was juicy and succulent with cheddar cheese perfectly melted on top. read more

The lack of professionalism from the management here is astounding. They messed up the payment arrangement we had set for months for my wedding after party (which now has me down $2000). They tried gaslighting me as if I made the mistake with 0 remorse. They tried to make up for it by offering a $500 restaurant credit lol. Joti you're a terrible owner. I took my SIL there as her first bar experience since she turned 21. The bartender was very kind and creative when I asked him to make her something light and sweet, making us two different drinks for her to choose from. They were both absolutely delicious and we enjoyed them. The bar was a beautiful and atmosphere was classy but relaxed. We sat on the screened patio with outdoor heaters to finish our drinks. The food is very, very good, and reasonably priced. There are a lot of very good things on the menu. Appetizers are delicious too! Onion rings and sweet potato fries were the bomb. We don't usually get dessert, but our server told us the churro waffle with ice cream was "to die for". He wasn't kidding. We split it among four people and we did almost die, it was so good. Our Server, Owen, is the best server we have had the pleasure of working with in ages. Ask to be seated at one of his tables. Eat outside on a Tuesday around 6:00 pm and wait for the Taco Tuesday bikes to come through. What a sight to see. Thanks Beer Baron for a wonderful evening. read more

Tried this place on a whim as it was close to our hotel. Wow. Great happy hour prices, excellent vegetarian tacos and the mozzarella sticks were PERFECT. Lots of food options and the liquor wall is impressive. Super friendly and accommodating staff. Dog friendly patio with gas warmers, right in town, very inviting. Don't skip it. Just go inside. Negative 000000000000 Stopped by for a cocktail of what used to be a nice bar, only to encounter two immature white male bartenders that said " we don't get paid enough for this " I asked if they could recommend where one could purchase cigarettes?........... At the beginning of the night it was very clear we had encountered two underpaid bartenders with bad attitudes who were unable to be polite to women of color. As the night went on i asked about where one could purchase cigarettes?...... the bartenders recommended a hotel or bar at the Belmont, which was 20 minutes away walking distance, I could tell from their responses and attitude that they didn't want to be called out for basically recommending that we leave .....not only was it a rude recommendation but when I called them out for recommending such a far distance they couldn't handle their own behavior and proceeded to call security!! lol This bar was once such a treat but is now only a bar with odd white male bartenders that hate themselves and anyone that looks different from them. Don't come here unless you know the bartender who hates his job and people of color read more

This was one of the latter and it ended up being one of my favorite of the entire trip. It's very modern and open, right in downtown Santa Rosa near other excellent breweries. They had lots of seating, plus a pool table and pinball area. The Mexican food truck pulled right up to a door next to the bar- we loved the food too! The beers were excellent, lots to choose from at reasonable prices. It was a happy and friendly place with lots of groups having fun while listen to great music. The bartenders were super nice, quick to pour and even gave me a few for free. It ended up being trivia night so we stayed for that and had a blast! After I ran out of draft beers to try, I switched to cans of a few others you can drink on site or take to go.

While I don't drink beer, they have SO much to offer on tap there's all kinds of goodness for everyone. They have a huge selection of beers and options, which is nice for folks who enjoy special brews and limited runs. Both on tap and in the coolers to take home. Last year on a trip to Santa Cruz I had the pleasure of finding a hard seltzer that was AMAZING, Untitled Art. They make beer, sours, and seltzers and each one I've tried have been delicious. The most recent was no exception! It's exciting to find delicious gluten free options so I'm always excited for new options. The original brew master became the co-owner when the winery left the beer business in 2003. It was then moved this location in 2004, opening as a brewpub. It's been on my list of places to visit for a while, so my wife, her mom, and I took the opportunity to stop in for a Thursday night dinner on our way to San Francisco from Fort Bragg. The inaugural double IPA (aka Imperial IPA) was made by the current co-owner at a different brewery in 1994. Double means it uses double the hops and malts, and the ABV is quite a bit higher. He then created Pliny the Elder (ABV 8.0%) in 2000, recognized as the most famous DIPA. The track continued, with Pliny the Younger in 2005, a triple IPA (using triple the hops and malts with ABV of 10.25%). This version is available once a year in the spring, since it costs so much money and time to make. With so much malt being used, a large amount of time (and hops) is needed to balance. I've had Pliny the Elder in bottles before, and really liked it: I don't like the hoppy 'piney' taste in my beers, but also recognize that not enough will make the beer too sweet (which I've been facing with a lot my island beers lately). Parking is street only, but there was a lot of it, with the metered parking only requiring payment till 6 pm. We were greeted warmly by the hostess and immediately seated at a table near the bar. As expected, it was quite loud, with after work folks having a good time. We got menus, ordered our food, and then decided what to do about flights. The brewery is also known for their Belgian style and thus offers two different flights. It was my first time, and didn't know how much my wife could help, so decided to order the California Sampler (a selection of 12 different West Coast 5 oz. pours of ales and lagers for $15.45) to start: O.V.L. Stout (Old Vic Loyals) - Irish nitro stout - really beginning to love stouts, and this one was good. Velvet Glow - lager - solid. Ending up buying 6 pack to bring home ($12.99) STS Pils - pilsner. Bought a 6-pack for $12.99. Russian River Porter - Blind Pig IPA - West Coast IPA Happy Hops - Juicy IPA Mosaic Stack - West Coast IPA SimCoe 25 - West Coast IPA Citra Flash Mob - West Coast IPA Mind Circus - Hazy IPA DDH Pliny the Elder - really good. bought two cans at $5.99 each. Pliny the Elder - the original Felt pretty good, so decided to order the Belgian Sampler (9 different for $13.63), Surprisingly, I didn't like it nearly as much (my favorite fruit beer during this trip was the Howzit Punch beer). Petite Robert - table beer Little White Lie - Belgian White Robert - saison Perdition - biere de sonoma Damnation - golden strong ale Mortification - quad Supplication - sour brown ale Intinction - barrel aged pilsner Consecration - sour dark ale In terms of the food, it was solid. The 8 pc chicken wings ($17) were good, and the cheesy garlic bread ($10) was filling. I had the meatball sandwich ($16) and upgraded the fries to a spinach salad (+$4): it was tasty, loved the toasted French bread and marinara sauce, with the meatballs being OK (tasted from frozen)...loved the spinach salad with strawberries and blue cheese. We finished off our meal with a Vinnies (co-owner) sundae: good vanilla ice cream with whipped cream, chocolate sauce, and a lot of almond slivers. Payment was at the table, and me being again very pleasantly surprised at how little the flights were (a typical brewpub where they charge $3-$4 per 5 oz, would have cost 4 times as much...though of course I wouldn't have drunk as much either).

Her daughter picked the place as a place she thought her mom would like. I ordered the Quesabirria Tacos with Consome that was ABSOLUTELY amazing. The meat was tender and juicy. Excellent flavor and the tortillas were perfectly crisp. Not so hard the roof of your mouth needs Band-aids but so your ears hear a crunch that is sensory pleasing. The staff and especially the Bartender were super rad! Side note is that my gram is 90 yrs old with failing health. She hasn't been able to go out of the house in weeks, but she made it to this and enjoyed all of it. So I thank you for that! And my 49yr old cousin just got out of the hospital after surviving a stroke 2 weeks ago. The Kaiser Santa Rosa ER tried to send him home! So be your own advocate! We had a lot on our hearts. We thank you for allowing us a place to let down our shoulders and exhale, even if just for a short while.

I was looking for something lighter, so I ordered their fruit punch seltzer, which was refreshing. I've also had several their beers in the past and enjoyed them too. I heard they release a new beer every 1-2 weeks, which keeps the tap list fresh. They have chips and candy available for snacks, and they have a variety of revolving food trucks that they host. We never received waters (or were even asked if we wanted beverages), our table wasn't given enough silverware, we were never checked on during the meal, and we were waiting around for 30 minutes twiddling our thumbs before somebody from our party finally went up to try to pay for the check. In hindsight, a tip was not warranted for the lack of service. Overall, Yelp grossly misled me on The Goose & Fern. This is not a spot I would stop by again to watch a sporting match. If you're in this part of Santa Rosa, do yourself a favor and head over to Dave and Busters down the street where they have a bunch of massive screens, tons of beer options, and service that will far surpass what you're getting here.

We very much enjoyed slowing down for a moment while enjoying our breakfast burrios and mochas. I love having my coffee in an actual mug when I'm staying at a cafe for a bit. It's just a nice cozy touch. The breakfast burritos were good but they could be mixed a little better. It was very sectioned by egg, cheese, potato and bacon. Like each bite only had one. Layering might help this but the flavor was still amazing! Brew is known for being welcoming to everyone and that has never changed. We love the environment and the service they provide!

But that may be part of the appeal for the Santa Rosa crowd.
