I just started going to Final Edition (in the Larkfield area of Santa Rosa) for Monday night trivia. I've lived most of my life here in town and never ventured in until I noticed they had trivia. This is a cool little bar. Staff has been friendly and outgoing each of my visits. I haven't purchased food, but I've been with people who have and it looks pretty dang good. Cocktails are a little less inexpensive here too, compared to those upscale places you might get a drink at (they're probably better here too). Obvious win there. There are a few local beers on tap, to go along with the national brands. Ambiance is like you'd expect in a place like this...neon bar signs, pool tables, plenty of stools at the bar and a few tables to sit back and eat. I also noticed besides trivia, they have bingo, karaoke and occasional live music. I kind of dig this place. I kind of have to go back...I won a gift card while playing trivia!! read more

I had low expectations going to a bar in an industrial area of Santa Rosa for lunch, but the food was surprisingly very good! We came with a regular on a Monday around 1pm and were seated in a dining area beyond the pool tables. We ordered Modelos ($13/each) and service from the bartender was quick. They are known for their burgers as the chef used to work at Roger's Drive In (famous in Santa Rosa). Husband ordered the Monday special meatloaf, which was Billy Moore's (owner Patrick's uncle) famous recipe. It was huge and served with mashed potato for $13.50. Husband said it was moist and delicious. I had the Reuben sandwich on marble rye with onion rings. Reuben was large and served with sauerkraut and Russian dressing for $13.50, plus $3.50 for the onion rings. It was very tasty and quite filling. The onion rings were golden brown and served with a nice ranch dressing (maybe homemade). The bar was very nice except the ladies bathrooms which was a little run down but still clean (the reason for minus one star). If I lived in the area, I'd definitely go there for lunch. I understand it's a younger, rowdier crowd at night with live bands. read more

We just came for their anniversary party and it was packed with a lot of regulars and some, great band, yummy a@@ burgers and friendly service as always, we been there on industry nights, lots of fun, DJ selection of music is ok. I have been going to Final for about 3.5years. I love the bartenders and the food, unfortunately the newer bouncer with the glasses has completely ruined this place. There have been two occasions where I've witnessed him bullying people but this last Saturday was the last straw. I observed him mostly talking on his phone the whole night until my friend an under 5ft tall 100pd asain lady got sick. Poor thing couldn't make it to the bathroom because of the line. He stood over her while she was throwing up into a trash can yelling at her to leave. He continued to bully her even after we were able to get her outside. Yelling in her face the whole way. There were 8 of us telling him to stop bullying her. He wouldn't claiming it is what the owner wants. I spent 20 minutes huddled over her to protect her from him. All 8 of us will not be going back to this establishment. read more

I go to this bar semi- frequently and I've always had a good time . However, Friday night I was there with my sister-in-law and came across two men at the bar who were sitting next to us. One of the men went into the women's restroom, which has a waiting area and a door to the one stall he proceeded to pound on the door aggressively, and when my sister-in-law came out and asked what he was doing at the women's bathroom the man said this is America and we piss where we want. The man proceeded to come and sit back next to us. I tried to tell the man that this was not acceptable behavior, especially for women because they should never be in the woman's bathroom regardless, if he had to pee or not, the man was unapologetic and rude. I made a big deal out of it because as we know, women are not safe in this world, and we should be advocated for the bouncer did take the man outside and speak to him and said he had done soap, but the man still sat next to us. Prior to the man coming back in the front who had been sitting with him, proceeded to stand over my sister-in-law in a threatening manner stating over and over you're in my seat and get out of my seat until I asked her to move because he was being aggressive. That was not his seat, but his friend seat. We left the bar because of this. I kept trying to prove my point to the bartender and the bouncer, but because the two men were regulars, they did not seem to take it serious. I'm extremely disappointed if they did not advocate for us as women or make us feel protected. My sister-in-law did walk out the door and knocked out a couple barstools so I will not deny that she in fact Was riled up by myself, was not so I decided to write this review to ask them to do better and to protect women. Final Edition Bar & Grill is your basic "dive bar". I'm not sure if the title is a badge of honor or a slur; but what that means if you go to Final Edition is that you will be rubbing elbows with the salt of the earth. Hard hats, pony tails, short skirts, jeans, steel toed boots and running shoes meet to enjoy a respite from the world outside the bar. Patrons hale each other from the other side of the room when they enter this shrine dedicated to alcohol, comfort food and civility. At a good dive bar, everyone has dignity and everyone is respected when they walk in. (When they walk out depends on how they behave while they are there!) There are no topics here that are not open for civil discussion. There are no dumb questions. That's how it is in a dive bar. Sofie and I had hamburgers. This is why we came here. We wanted something different than what we have tried in the past. We returned from the land of bad hamburgers (Kansas) and were in need of having the real thing. Can you imagine our joy at having the real deal at Final Edition? Good honest hamburger full of taste and satisfaction. No need to travel to Kansas! The onion rings are outstanding. I love fried onion rings. These are among the best. Final Edition has activities that bring people together and deals that give everyone an incentive to return throughout the week. (see photo) The proprietor came to each table in a friendly and unobtrusive way to take orders, clean away dishes and ask if we enjoyed our food and needed anything. His demeanor was friendly, welcoming and caring. He is the kind of guy that invokes good behavior and kindness by setting a perfect example. Some people are like that. They are so nice that one wants to give back that attitude so not to disappoint the one who sets the cadence of the march. An elderly couple came into the bar and were stunned. They would not venture more than 3 feet. They looked around to take in the room, then looked at each other and walked out. Final Edition isn't for everyone. That's a good thing. It keeps out the riffraff for which Final Edition is a refuge from. It isn't communism to be sure; but everyone here is your brother or your sister. read more

Ty (other reviewer) hit the nail on the head when he said, it's like a bar from the Midwest. A bar you'd find in the boonies of Wisconsin and some parts of inner city Chicago. Spent the morning on a farm in the ways out doing some serious laborious work. Heading back to civilization we got the notion of burgers. Since we were out this way, Buns and Burgers is a usual destination, though today we decided to try the mysterious, black tinted bar next door. I left the farm and headed for Grand pappy's cabin. The bar; a real dive, think old brown wood, cozy pub stools, a high step to relax your dogs and a padded arm rest to lay the gun show. There are all kinds of knick knacks that adorn the walls which is the kind of stuff, someone received and wanted to hang, but their wife just wouldn't allow it. They don't make bars like this. I could have sat in that stool the rest of the afternoon, watched Nascar and downed a couple more Sierra Nevada's. You'd be surprised to find that they also pour Stella Artois, Widmer Honey and then the usuals. I'm glad they carry Coor's light, it's a super light domestic that heals the weak and allowed for a productive afternoon. Food, well it's a bit too expensive to me and the burgers taste like they are of the frozen variety, good but not great. I hear the salads and soups are made in house which are pretty good. A cool note, they have an erasable board set up behind the bar which is used to track drinks purchased for friends. You buy a drink and give them a name. When your friend stops by, they give their name and collect their drink or shot. Different but cool. read more

We have heard some positive comments from friends about the burgers at Final Edition. We decided to try it and see how good the burgers are. We ordered two of the Rodger Burgers for take out. The burgers were ready is about 10 minutes. The place reminds me of a old fashioned bar/pool hall/ diner. The burgers were delicious! The burgers Have an amazing flavor that goes back to when I was a teenager eating a freshly prepared burger and fries. Everything was fresh and tasty. I highly recommend this place. This is a story on how I acquired food poisoning from a questionable meal. I used to rent a house in Larkfield which is a gorgeous area, I loved some of the local establishments nearby. I've come here before and my previous experience wasn't bad because all I ordered was a drink that was made pretty stiff. My second time around was an absolute bloody disaster to put it lightly. I arrive to Final Edition, their isn't a formal hostess which is fine, seating was a little confusing. It has a very rustic dive bar feel and clearly they have a base of local customers they certainly cater to. I overlook their menu, it was sandwiches and burgers, typical bar food but their sandwich list was a little extensive. I order a Firestone Walker 805 beer, a 1/2 "pound" bacon cheeseburger with fries and a French dip. I soon discovered that the hostess/ waitress was also the main cook. I was a little worried to say the least... The beer comes ice cold, tasted delicious! Their draft system is excellent, a perfect pour. The food comes, I asked when ordering for my sauce on the side & it's whipped all over my bread, making my bread soggy from the heat. I take a triple look at the 1/2 "pound" bacon cheeseburger and it's pretty petite, not even close to a 1/2 let alone 1/4 of a pound. The bread is served on some type of hot dog bun, along with my French dip. The bread was stale, partially soggy and it's a bloody hot dog bun, there are no words!! The fries were ok, they were clearly thrown from a frozen bag into a fryer. The ranch in the side was room temperature, a recipe for a food borne illness. The French dip wasn't anything to scream home about, very bland, to be somewhat expected from the location. Then came that burger, a bloody disaster and Gordon Ramsey would agree. The patty was clearly thrown from the freezer to a heated top, my burger tasted like freezer burnt meat mixed with a stove top burn, too many burns for a burger. I forced myself to take a second bite and my stomach did this insane drop. Moments later I was in the bathroom feeling nauseous and vomited for a few minutes. Nothing is worse then coming to a place and getting food poisoning while you're eating at the establishment, my stomach instant knew it couldn't process whatever they were serving. I felt significantly ill for the entire afternoon and evening, leading into the next morning. The cook made a comment about how I must like the burger so much that she insinuated that I was going to take it home, on the contrary. I left it there because I wouldn't even feed that to my dog. The only reason I give 2 stars is because of the beer which is more than gracious considering the circumstances. read more

I've been going to Eddie's/Final Editionfor probably 30 years. Always got the Eddie Burger, also known as the bacon cheeseburger. The place recently changed ownership. Got a Eddie Burger and I was really disappointed. They are using a different bun, and it just ruins the burger. They use to have Hoagie rolls. Go down to Molsberrys and buy some Hoagie rolls. Maybe the beer-battered onion rings EVER! Really good bacon cheeseburger, too. Reminded of some great really old bar & grill sorta joints when I worked In downtown Oakland many years ago. Make no mistake, this is not a review of a 3- or 4-Star fine restaurant, but of an excellent bar and grill within its genre. John, one of the owners, was behind the bar when I asked a couple questions upon first entering. Just a nice, welcoming, salt-of-the-earth guy. A brief encounter. Just like home cooking with a big screen (2 big screens and 5 tv's in total) with friendly ownership, bar and culinary staff. WiFi available as well as billiards and darts but I try not to do those during breakfast. Excellent beer and liquor selection. Clean. Excellent pit stop for travelers as the off Highway 101 in a shopping center with a great local grocery store, gas station, car wash, Starbuck's across street. read more

First time at Final Edition Bar. Had read about it in the newspaper a while ago and decided to finally try the Roger burger. It was perfectly cooked, the bun was light and fit the burger (one of my pet peeves if it doesn't). The taste did take me back to the "old" days and enjoyed it very much. Hubby had the french dip that he liked very much along with his drink. Service was friendly and efficient. Will return to try other choices too! read more

Everyone was so friendly & helpful when we ordered our lunch & we ended up ordering the Bacon Cheeseburger & Macaroni salad. Best dang burger we've had in many moons. This place will surprise you. When I first walked in I wasn't too sure about it. It's a bar... like a bar you'd normally find in the midwest. A little dark, old brown tables sitting around, typical bar to sit at with the beer and sports signs decorating the walls around you. The true gem is the food! I expected to not like this place. Every part of me was convinced it would be horrible, typical bar food. It's not!. They happen to use very high quality ingredients. They make the spaghetti homemade. They use pears, tomatoes and other veggies and fruits from their garden (from the owners garden). The food is fresh and simple and really good. I am partial to the diet burger plate that is a bunless burger with a side of cottage cheese and fresh fruit. I have tried the BLT (one of the best I have ever had!), the French Dip, also very good and the Philly steak. All great and all with fresh foods and ingredients. You won't find the typical all frozen food menu here so check it out. The waitresses are always nice. Atmosphere is relaxed and could use redecorating but the food is great and it's affordable! read more

Great dive bar! Just the right amount of sleaze- slate pool tables and darts. Hand formed burger patties, fries that arrive with the hot oil still glistening, crunchy onion rings, cold beer, good ones on tap, pear cider in a bottle, excellent sausage platter. As for the same guy taking the order and cooking it- that means you've seen your cook, instead of leaving that job to faceless line chefs who cough in your broth. We would go back anytime! read more

Cool spot to hang out, on Mondays they have free games of pool and Saturday and Sunday they have free hot dogs. They serve strong drinks which I here it's there tradition I'll stick to my draft beer. I've come here for drinks before, it has always been a nice casual bar and not expensive compared to other bars in Santa Rosa. What really got me was the owner. Unfortunately I lost something pretty valuable to me and told the bartender about it. He told me he was actually the owner and he would make sure to take care of me and get it back. He took down my information and was such a nice guy. I love supporting local small bars and this is definitely one to check out. read more

Out on a rainy day Christmas Shopping and we stepped into this friendly, cozy bar and grill. Good, strong cocktails and great comfort food! My hubby ordered the Bacon Cheese Burger that John recommended and although it was cooked a bit more than he likes, we both enjoyed it immensely. I got the French Dip sandwich- one of the best I've ever had. Meaty with a soft delicious roll. I highly recommend that. Also the homemade macaroni salad is fantastic.
