Find a trust worthy Mechanic This is going to be long so I hope your in for it I know for a fact they regularly place "mechanic's lien" on many vehicles and sell them off for profit. (They steal cars form people by charging more than owner can afford, they then sell those cars for profit) The name of this place should be called "Dewy , Cheatum, and How" I was blindsided how friendly and service oriented they seemed to be... However , my issue was not diagnosed correctly initially and once it was taken in for repairs the issue was never addressed correctly. 9 months from the initial time I left this Truck with Salerno's and I still have a misfire in Cylinder 6 The whole ordeal started 10/28/2024, when I decided to trust Salerno's with the head gasket repair... I know this a labor intensive job so I waited patiently, the head gasket job too two months to complete . Immediately after taking possession of my vehicle I got a check engine light ( I was not comfortable going back to Salerno's ) so I got a second opinion from the car Dr of Loma Linda . The car Drs told me that Salernos had installed the wrong coil packs and did not replace a broken coolant Temp sensor. I went back to Salerno's with the quote from the Car Dr. and dropped my vehicle off again to be repaired properly the next day 1/5/2025 I got my vehicle back again another two months later and was charged $819.24 for the mistakes they make . Fool me twice maybe but not a third time , at this point I refuse to ever trust Salerno's When I went to pick up my truck the second time it had multiple new scratches scrapes and dings all over the body and around the hood where tool were dropped in it (I pointed it out to the denial of owner Mark). He also assured me the second 1/2 of the coil pack was correct even though there is no firing order noted on it . This business changed me over $6,500 , and clearly they are not a quality shop. There lack of knowledge and ability should be a concern to everyone looking for anything more then an oil change. We stopped by halfway through a road trip because we were concerned with some squeaking noises on the highway. Despite being a holiday, they immediately found time to send someone out with us to listen for and diagnose the problem! After a few miles on the interstate we heard the noise again and he immediately found the problem! We were mistaking the road noise for a genuine car problem! Took my suv in for an alignment and balance in the tires. Came back worse than it went in with the steering wheel more crooked and the owner telling me they couldn't figure out how to tighten my suspension back up. So he recomended some suspension replacements saying it should be fixed. Nothing was wrong with my car until it went into the shop. But it left the shop crooked and not driving straight with awful vibrations I took my car after to le Schwab in Yucaipa. I've been trying to find an auto shop that will not only work on my bus, but where I actually like the people working on it, and that's convenient to get to! Mark Salerno (the owner) is a really nice guy and from what I can tell does an excellent job. His employees all seem to be easy to talk to and friendly as well. Anyways! To make a long story short, my brakes were not working hardly at all. I had to keep pumping the brakes and even then if you weren't careful, you might plow into someone. Not good! Mark never called to give updates we had to continually call & ask what was going on. Got excuses & I'm Sorries. I pasted my Google review below: So my backstory is that I needed a pre-purchase inspection for a car. Found a car that I really love but I was a little skeptical on the quality of the car. I'm a bit of a handyman myself but I wanted to get it checked by a professional mechanic. I found Salerno's online as it was already highly rated and figured I'll give them a shot. Now, don't be put off by initial impressions when you pull up. These people are the real deal. They're ASE-certified and been around since the 60s, which must mean for something. Think about it, a local privately owned shop that's been around for over 60 years. You can't stick around that long if you burn customers. So back to my story. I just needed a quick inspection. I showed up without an appointment; I wasn't expecting a service immediately. Chris, one of the mechanics, offered to drive me back home. And I thought what, is this car gonna stay overnight or even over the weekend? Nope. Inspection was gonna be done that day. The offer was to just take me back home for my convenience. They rotated my tires for free because my front tires were a little worn compared to the rear. You're not gonna get small gestures like that at a brand dealership/mechanic shop.This is what a family-owned business is all about. My future car passed with flying colors. They caught some stuff I didn't catch and mentioned things I too also noticed. I'm a big fan of supporting local businesses and this is definitely those businesses you should check out. Where do I begin? I've had nothing but bad luck with cars and mechanics, until I came across this gem! Mark and Jude were so kind, helpful, professional, and HONEST. I had been told by another shop that I needed all sorts of work done that would cost $1k (suspension, dual arm controls, etc) Mark and Jude looked at my car, and it turns out I didn't need any of that work done. As I was driving from out of town I experienced some shaking in my steering column, called the guys and they took me right in. I got an Uber into town to wait & the hours following couldn't get a ride back (peak hours ). The shop owner picked me up! A few weeks ago I dropped by Salerno's a few minutes before closing to see if they could help me get a moving cart/ and some moving blankets that had been left off my order from a Penske truck I had rented from a local Home Depot store. Mr. Mark Salerno stayed late to help fulfill/ correct my order through Penske that had been grossly undeserved by the rental staff at Home Depot. Mark was able to contact the Penske regional manager and straighten out the gross errors made by the Home Depot staff... (they had no idea what they were doing and gave me a 26 foot truck and had me sign for a 16 foot truck.)
