First there customer service is okay. However, I asked them to fix my clutch on my 2010 Mazda3 and they charged me $2386.39 for the repair. Now they are going to sell my car to recoup the cost. But I did call them before they told me it was repaired to see what I could. I got turned down for financing, so I asked if I could make payments and they never got back to me on that. read more

I have a Chevy transverse and a F150 that had a slip in the transmission every once in a while when accelerating which I think was due to old fluid. No check engine light , but mileage was close to recommend replacement. I scheduled both cars and was able to get them by the end of the day. The front desk people were very patient and answered all my questions. Pros: price was fair about 2/3 of dealership mechanic. No surprise charges l. Same day service. I really don't know what to say. I came in to get my transmission flushed and before they even did that they offered an inspection which I didn't think twice about. After 2 days they call and said I have rod knocking problem and said it woulda been 800 just to take apart the engine to look at it. So I said forget it I'll just pick up the car since I was planning on getting a new car in a few months anyways. Didn't even get the transmission serviced and as soon as I took the car off the lot it lost power and died half a mile down the road. When I called back to say what's up, they claimed no fault and basically said I don't know what to tell you but good luck. I just find it hard to believe that they had my car for 2 days and all the sudden it makes noises that it didn't before that causes it to break down in the middle of the road. Have only good things to say, they rebuilt transmissions on my Odyssey and Lacrosse and both run great. They Odyssey recently had an issue with shifting but they did the repair under warranty and it is back on the road. I drive older vehicles and like to keep them running properly and if it's something I can't fix I take it to them. They do charge more than most but they also do better work than most. I wish I can give this place 0 stars but I can't . I took my car here on August 9, 2024. They had my car for about 8 hours. I received a call back saying my transmission was fine and in his words " It's doing what it suppose to do ". I went to pick my car up and wasn't charged anything. My car was still acting weird after that visit but I didn't think it was a transmission issue, since I was told it was good . Fast forward to today , I took my car to Midas . They told me they don't know how aamco missed this but I need a whole new transmission and it will cost approximately 3k ! PLEASE DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR TO THIS PLACE ! GO UP THE STREET TO MIDAS! This transmission shop tried to tell me I needed another rebuild of a transmission they rebuild less than 4200 miles. Tried to offer me cash to purchase my truck for a repair that cost me doing it myself for 130.00 by devaluing my car saying it need 3000.00 in repairs in hopes of me selling it for basically nothing. Stop!!! Do not bring your car to this Amco. I was told the general pricing for transmissions is $2500-$4500. They evaluated the transmission, called me back & told me it would be $5600. I said wait I do not have $5600. I need to come pick up my car. They said okay but you still have to pay us $2500. So, basically once you drop your car off they can put however many zeros they want behind it and you are screwed. I am very unhappy. I feel I was lied to and not given the truth. They should've told me it starts at $2500 and it could be as much as...If anyone has a class action against Amco Transmission, please contact me. I'm very unhappy. read more

I have to say, when I first went to Manny, I was very comfortable after just one phone call. When I brought him my car he seemed to do everything he could do to get it fixed. He kept in touch with me every step of the way and was honest to me about what could possibly happen with my car. It is now fixed and runs well. I feared the worst when I brought my 2006 F150 in after a check engine light came on and the transmission was having trouble changing gears. The guys at AAMCO diagnosed the problem as an issue with a sensor. Replacing it cost about 1/4 of what a new transmission would've cost. They had it fixed the next day. Super honest and efficient. They got the truck running like a champ again at a fraction of what I expected. read more

I have been going to this AAMCO for about 10 years now. I live in Yucaipa and I drive a extra 15 miles out of my way because you get what you pay for. I could go to a local place and even save time and money because AAMCO is a few dollars more than a smaller shop. But I don't go to Big Lots and buy electronics because they have no warranty and you get what you ot for. I'll pay a few extra $$ and drive a few extra miles to have it done right the first time. Do not, I repeat, do not go to this establishment unless you have money to burn. They charged us 4800 dollars for a rebuilt transmission installation. Roughly 170.00 an hour to do this job. We were quoted $1298 for labor, then when the truck was torn down, the bill went up. Shame on them for price gouging their customers. Had I known they were going to charge us the price of a used car, we would have taken our truck elsewhere. Keep scrolling when you are shopping for a transmission. Took my car here for rebuilt transmission cost me 3000,00 since then i had brought it back 8 times for the transmission, a fee times i broke down on the freeway (very scary) the seal on tranny busted twice and they couldnt give me a explanation, today i got it back i believe is the 8th time this year ,i drove home stopped at the gas station ,after getting gas my car wouldnt start when i called to tell them how this happened one of tje other times before and it was the ground wire they forgot to tighten he said let me call the owner and ill call you back,he called back and said the owner said that has nothing to do with us but you can tow it back here and we will check it out, im just dumbfounded. Don't get your brakes done here! They will try to swindle you and pile on so much unnecessary work to rip you off. Manny is rude and manipulative. First of all, front desk girl is nice and professional. Went in optimistic about the brake job Groupon. Of course too good to be true. Dropped my car off at 8am on Thursday, only to show up at 4:30 and be informed they hadn't touched my car due to their rotor resurfacing machine breaking down. All day no updates whatsoever? For the inconvenience manny offers and oil change on a future visit. Left my car for another night, again no updates until I called at 3pm and manny tells me my car will be ready by 4. I show up to no information on my car. I just have to trust they they did the job. No mention of the free oil change either. Overall, a hassle to deal with AAMCO and manny. This shop is full service auto repair with an excellent reputation for honesty and good honest work. I have experienced this firsthand when I went to have my transmission worked on last month. Mike Maloney, store manager, explained to me that he could save me $400 dollars and why my car needed a part and not a replacement of something much more expensive and time-consuming. The store also needed to order a filter and gasket for my transmission to complete the job so I was invited back the following week for a no-charge final adjustment/installation. My 2007 Honda Accord with 110000 miles needed a new clutch. This particular vehicle is very costly to service the clutch. I shopped around and was blown away by the quotes I was getting. Manny the service manager gave me a great price and was able to get it done in 1 day! 1 day!! My regular mechanic wanted 2-3 days and no guarantee! He really worked hard for my business and was very professional. My clutch feels better now then when new (LUK clutch kit). I was also relieved to have a transmission specialist do this kind of work, and offer the warranty they do. My recommendation: Shop around, get 3 quotes, take it here and they will beat it. An honest mechanic shop. Unfortunately this term has become a bit of an oxymoron in this day and age. It's almost become the norm for auto repair shops to overcharge, exaggerate, trick and generally rip people off. This AAMCO shop, however, is a very welcome exception. Over the past 10-15 years or so I've had to use their services about half-a-dozen times. Mike, the main man here, has always been friendly and knowledgeable. More importantly...he's been honest. He's always been very up front about what work NEEDS to be done, what work SHOULD be done, and what work can wait until later. This level of customer service isn't what I've received at all at the other couple AAMCO locations I've had to frequent over my life. This is one of the few places I've felt comfortable bringing my vehicles to, hands down. read more

The most painless service for my car I have ever experienced! 2 days ago my battery died. AAA came and jumped my car but instructed me to go get the battery tested. I heard from my boss this place was good and right down the street so I called and set an appointment. I dropped my car off at 8am, signed some papers, walked to work, and then got the call by 9am that my car was good to go. I was expecting them to try to sell me on something but, to echo other reviews, this AAMCO was a lovely exception to most shops I have taken my car. The check was free and Manny did not try to push anything on me. He explained what he thinks happened but said I was good to go. Im still in shock at how painless this was. Normally, I go to the Mercedes dealership and HATE having to go there so my preconceived negativity was quite high when dropping my car off, but I am pleased to say I am one happy camper. Worst experience ever. Manny and the owner are complete bull$hitters. $4000 for a clutch job? Are you serious? And the clutch still wasn't working right and they also messed up my transmission. After it all I wanted the invoices for the parts they ordered due to finding performance clutch kits for about $600. Didn't make sense. I called manny only to him trying to talk down to me and threatening me saying I should go down there and he can teach me a lesson. Get to talking to the owner who just talked a bunch of bull to me. Calling me "broke". He later called the police to say I threatened him and his family. Got arrested a week later only to have the case dropped because he didn't have any solid evidence. This aamco is full of sh*t and I will never consider them for any repairs. And to manny if you read this I hope you rot. read more

After receiving terrible service at Transmission Plus of Redlands, I limped my way to AAMCO of Redlands where the manager, Mike, listened to my recent woes and assured me I'd be taken care of. The owner of the business even personally came out from the woodwork and told me they found damage done by the other shop and would fix it for no extra charge. The service and repair was done and I couldn't have been happier. I kick myself for not coming here in the first place. I know I'll be bringing all my vehicles here for now on as well. If you want to have an honest, and VERY ETHICAL mechanic in charge of getting your transmission fixed; then pull right on into the Redlands AAMCO. Mike let me know upfront that his main goal was to have me leave his shop as a happy customer; and for the most part he sure did. He and his men rebuilt the transmission on my '97 Isuzu Trooper. It was a bear to work on, because the previous owner had a buffoon work on it. So the clown who worked on it before just made a mess of everything. Mike had to deal with a lot of crap left behind from that previous wrench-toting hack. I had no problem with the long wait, because Mike was constantly letting me know what was going on WELL AHEAD OF TIME (communication like this is a very valuable commodity; because it lets me plan my day). Mike and his men were thorough, friendly and demanding of their own work. He let me know upfront that he wasn't about to let me roll off that driveway with anything but a finely repaired machine. The only problem I had that stops this from being a "5-star" rating was a minor issue that we worked out completely to my satisfaction. The problem honestly isn't worth going into detail, because I never, ever had any doubt in Mike's integrity as we worked through the problem. The bottom line is that Mike took a car that couldn't shift out of first gear; and finished up by repairing it into a smooth running machine (the engine on this car was previously replaced..Lucky for me not by the same bone head who replaced the transmission before I bought the car). If you pull into AAMCO, then brush away the worries of being ripped off, bull-s*#tted, and deceived. Instead, you're going to get a mechanic who is proud of his deserved reputation as an honest mechanic who wants "word of mouth" to spread in his favor. No, AAMCO isn't cheap by a LONG SHOT, but their guarantee is strong, their customer service is on point, and they're represented well by Mike in Redlands. read more
