I've been watching as a crane took what I assume is an HVAC unit up to the top of a building, and swapped out the old one. First of all, the crane operation was spectacular to watch, but that's not why I'm writing (I assume that's a subcontractor anyway). I'm writing because, where it's a nice day, I've had my window open, and therefore was listening as the two Phil's employees (hell, maybe one of them is Phil?) engaged with people parking their cars and needing to move for alternate-side-parking today. The two of them were so kind and professional asking people gently to move, guiding cars, figuring out where the best place to go was for each car to facilitate both their parking and the crane's. I don't know, there's just something about these two that really touched me - the way they do their job effectively and kindly at the same time. We are lacking in kindness right now in the US. I just thought I'd put this into the ether, and if I ever need plumbing/AC work done at my condo, it'll be the first company I call!!

I took him at his professional word and approved the work on that basis. It did not last 12 hours. The system stopped working the same day. Only afterward did I read the fine print on the invoice, which says the opposite of what I was told in person: that a recharge carries no guarantee of operation for any period of time and that the refrigerant may keep leaking. So I was sold a "summer" fix verbally, handed a disclaimer in writing, and left with a system that quit before the next morning. To make it worse, no one had the courtesy to call me and let me know the outcome of the conversation with their technician. Having managed large operations for years, I know there's a right way and a wrong way to do business: set honest expectations, stand behind what your technician promises, and communicate directly. None of that happened here. My advice, get every promise in writing before you approve any work, or better yet, call someone else.

The company later confirmed in writing that they had identified the valve and decided it was acceptable, but they never communicated this assessment or the associated risk to me as the owner. Within four months of installation, the unit began breaking down. It failed six documented times over the following 17 months, repeatedly leaving my tenant without heat during winter. I paid out of pocket for multiple diagnostic visits across different contractors trying to identify the root cause. I only learned of the GPM mismatch in 2026 -- from my building's property manager, not from Petri. In several cases, obtaining those parts at no cost required Mazgan to negotiate with Navien on my behalf. The company was also very accommodating regarding the overall cost of the repairs. In the end, Mazgan proved to be a reliable company that stands behind its work and can be trusted to see a difficult project through to completion.

He then knocked it down to $4300. Still ridiculously HIGH!!! They add in line items like $500 crane fee for their lazy asses to lift the 15 lbs unit in the air. They originally tried to charge $225/lbs of R410A freon. I could go on and on. In the end they left me hanging but thank God they did. I called another company that charged me $2600 total to install a brand new unit ($700), with 11 lbs @ only $95/lbs of freon fee and none of their predatory fees- just an hourly rate. Mazgan is so unscrupulous. I hate vendors like this. STEER CLEAR. I cannot express this enough.
