J & J Auto Body is a local U-Haul franchise in Monterey. On the U-Haul web site, they are listed as carrying moving supplies (boxes, tape, etc.). I drive all the way over there to find that they don't carry any of these materials. They direct me to Airport Road Self-Storage across the street that has U-Haul authorized retailer sign hanging in the window. I go in expecting to get fair prices on moving boxes, plus I had no choice at this point. I leave the store very unhappy because I feel like I have been price gouged. Today I bought packing supplies from another 'real' U-Haul retailer only to find that the materials I had bought from the store I was referred to by the U-Haul store had been marked up over 100% above the U-Haul prices. This feels like a bait and switch to me. 1). The U-Haul store advertised that they sell moving supplies 2). They refer me to another place that charges twice as much. J&J Auto Body was GREAT!! After an accident, I had to run around getting four different quotes from all over town. They had the lowest price by HUNDREDS of dollars than other body shops around Monterey, and did a fantastic job. I took my car in, got an estimate, and when I returned for my car a few days later, they didn't charge me a penny over the estimate, fixed my car to look like new, and even washed my car for me. Jim and Skip are very very helpful and are not looking to take you for a ride. I had tire rubber hit my car hood and scuff it up. I was told by one other shop that it would cost $600 to re-paint. I called J & J and they asked me to come in to see if they could buff out the scuffs. Not only did they buff everything out, they used clay bar to clean up my hood, something car washes charge an arm and a leg for. All this for $20! I Highly recommend this establishment. I had an incident involving denting and scratching a door on my BMW X5, and after getting a $1300, week long in the shop, quote from one auto body place, I found J&J on Yelp and gave them a try based on the excellent reviews. Not only did they quote me $500 ($800 less!!!), they told me they'd have it fixed in 2 days - and what do you know, it was ready in 2 days and they honored the estimate they gave me, even though I suspect it may have run more overall. Oh, my car even came back looking cleaner bc they washed it for me. :) My X5 looks great, the service was prompt and friendly, and I rarely feel compelled enough to leave a Yelp review - but this shop gets my full recommendation for auto body work. J & J Auto Body was my lifesaver when I got into an accident that required me to get a new front bumper, passenger headlight, straightening out my hood and side panel, and repainting the pieces (my car also has special manufacturing detailing on the side that was fixed expertly as well).
