We went camping and used Lazzari wood for our camp fire and bbqing. It was great!!! Customer service was on point. Excellent wood choices of oak, and almond. Okay people I don't do a lot of reviews but this place needs some explaining. You have probably seen the product and that is why you are here, but it can be tricky to understand the first time you go there. When you turn onto Industrial you will see a sign on the left for the place and as you turn in it will look like a truck delivery entrance (dirt road, bumpy, ect.). It looks like you have driven into the wrong place for retail customers, but it's not. You will see an old looking warehouse straight ahead, go towards that. There will by guys on forklifts driving around but keep to the left. Go left at the edge of the fence and swing around to park. There are a series of large garage doors, go to the one on the far left. There is a set of stairs on the left when you go in the large door, go up them to the "office". Remember this is a no nonsense place so greeting might be on the low side. Inside you can pay for your desired product. There is a white board price list behind the office door as you walk in. Pick what you want, pay (they take cards), and bring your ticket/receipt to one of the guys on the forklifts outside (they don't look like they want to be bothered, but just hold up you ticket and they will help you out). While they go get your stuff go to you car and be ready to load it when they get back. If they are not to busy they will help you load it. Really great place for wood for serious bbq'rs and "live edge" slabs.

As a lover of open fire grilling, old skool bbq smooking and other cooking involving the flame, Lazzari does make some great charcoal. I've smoked everything from whole lelgs of lamb, brisket, and cooked whole suckling pigs with their fuel. I'm also a fan of their large format chunks of almond wood which is great for grilling all manners of steak. Such an old skool product worth checking into if you like the primal style of cooking. read more

Absolutely fantastic place to get firewood! Recently moved to the area and have been in search of a consistent source and went to Lazzari's today for the first time. The hardest part was finding the office but after that, super smooth. I bought a 20 lb bag of mesquite charcoal and a 1.7 cf bag of almond wood. Each cost about $10 which basically half of the price compared to Home Depot and Lowes. The nearest competition is Native and they were way more expensive. Little known fact: the superlative Lazzari charcoal manufacturer has a small retail operation out of their factory. Make your way down the gravel driveway and enter the dilapidated warehouse, climb the rickety stairs by the entrance, and you'll find an office ready to sell you whatever mesquite or oak lump hardwood charcoal (oak = superior, IMHO), hickory wood chunks, and fruit wood chips you may require for barbecuing goodness. I have been experimenting with differnt brands of lump coal over the years. Lazzari mesquite is the reason I have no reason to look for the perfect coal. This place is a hidden gem for anyone who BBQ's. We bought 120 pounds of charcoal for half the price you would pay in a typical grocery store. The staff is friendly and helpful and they even load the charcoal into your car. The location has a little bit of history, apparently it was an old train turn around. They still have part of the structure intact which makes a great subject for budding photographers. Like everyone else has written, they have a small retail operation that will sell small quantities to the general public. And yes--the staff is friendly and efficient. And yes--the prices are better than at the retailers. And of course, the catch is you have to go there during their normal business hours. Buy what you want from the upstairs office, take the receipt to one of the workers on the floor, and drive your car up to entrance. They will load it into your vehicle and you are on your way. Now what everyone else didn't mention is that the folks who work there are really into BBQs and you will see grills and pits scattered around the property, with some cooking away what I'm guessing is their lunch/dinner. So be aware of this so you don't start drooling all over yourself. That hardwood smoke smell permeates the whole compound and makes you want to go straight home and fire up your grill. read more
