Update- I had another leaking tire, so based on my previous experience I went out of my way to return here for a repair. This experience was 100% different. I'm not sure if the guy working was having a bad day or just hated life, or just hated me, but he would barely acknowledge my existence, when he did I asked if he could fix a leaking tire and rotate my tires and the only answer I got was "you're going to have to wait" and when I asked if he had any idea how long it may be he just mumbled and walked away. So I just walked out and won't be back. I understand maybe you're busy but being rude to a customer doesn't seem necessary. read more

This tire shop took advantage of me. We were in the road traveling through and had a flat. They sold us a "new" tire full of holes. Do not trust this place. Went there to have my tire looked at. Got off the car and as I'm walking up an employee is walking out to put a tire in the water to check for leaks and walks past me like I'm invisible. I stand around a while waiting while he works on the other customers car then a few minutes later a truck pulls up and the rest of the shop comes out to immediately start working on that guys truck. I came away from my experience at J&J's disappointed. I called prior to coming in and was quoted $40-$55 per tire. I asked for Michelin Defender tires to be installed in the rear since my both of my current tires have low tire treads and are in need of being replaced. After the installation, I went outside to examine the tires and noticed the tires were entirely different from what I requested; I received GoodYear Viva 3 tires and when I inquired about the change, I was told that they were out of the Michelin Defender and the Viva 3 was the next best option they could find. The only person I was interacting this entire time with was the receptionist. Red Flag #1- Installed tires that I didn't authorize and didn't communicate with me. Caught me off guard. Red Flag #2- Attempted to charge me the same rate of $50 per tire although the Viva 3 has lower ratings and is $20 cheaper than the Michelin Defenders. (You'll see that Michelin Defenders are $85 new per tire and Viva 3 are $64 new per tire. If I had to choose between a $64 brand new tire w/a warranty and $50 used tire w/out a warranty, the answer would be clear.) I asked for my old tires to installed back - which they did and left. I did not find the receptionist to be apologetic nor make any effort to remedy the situation so I would not recommend this place. She was, however, nice. I was hoping to come away from J&J's with a god experience based off their 5-star reviews. read more

Bait and switch. Did a price quote on Yelp. Asked for a quote. I put all the information on there. Jose D quotes me "$50. Stop by when you are ready" I get to the store and they ask for a 40% more than the initial quote. Saying the original quote price was an estimate and the price went up because the tires I want to install was bigger. They said they could not see the nail in the tire, so they would have to remove it to find it. If they could repair it, no charge. Discovered J & J Tire Service and from the reviews, it reminded me of Auto Tech Service in DC (previously reviewed), a local, family-owned business that puts trust and customer above all else. Sent a quote request via Yelp and heard back from Jose within minutes. $15. My daughter argued for the "free" place, surely we could watch them and make sure they don't rip us off. Lifelong learning opportunity here. I explained to my naive daughter that auto repair is a tricky business. You will find that most mechanics are honest, hardworking people. However, being a specialized, subjective type of business, a person with little knowledge of automobiles could find themselves being taken advantage of quite easily. Trust and gut feelings play a huge role in choosing whom to entrust with repairing your automobile. I got a good vibe from J & J and followed my instincts. The place was crowded upon arrival and it was unclear where to go once you pulled into the tight lot. As such, we had to move the car a few times because we kept getting in someone's way. Within a few minutes, a young boy (Jose's little brother, we came to learn) came out to greet us and ask what we needed done. 3-4 people ended up working on the car (including the kid) right there in the lot and it was done in less than 30 minutes. So, of course I called ahead of time to see if they had my tire size in stock and at least 2017's and up. The guy assured me they had multiple used tires in that size from the years 2017, 2018 and even 2019. I pull up and I get out and I am a female, so dishonest shops are going to try to scam me. So this dishonest shop did just that. They tried to sell me a 2012 cracking used tire and a 2016 without much tread left. Really guys, a 2012?? I was replacing 2015's. My tire had a fast leak and luckily on Thanksgiving Eve during rush hour traffic I found J&J via Yelp. I have roadside service but they couldn't find a provider due to busy holiday traffic. I called J&J didn't get an answer BUT they called me back. Service made his way to me within 35 mins of our call. I was so grateful. It was cold too! He found 2 large nails in my tire, repaired it quickly and got me back on my way. I would highly recommend them for their courtesy, fast and professional service! Good dudes. My second trip for tires. First set lasted 3 years. Owner was on site. Nice guy. Employees working hard. Honest about the tires, condition, and give a fair price. It's a bit rough around the edges but overall don't be scared. They are working people. Speak Spanish to them and their eyes light up . Being very white they didn't expect that. The man says 5 stars, no doubt. Gave him cardboard for the dirty tire in the back of our SUV, had lots of tire choices in store, and very reasonably priced for used tires. We were in and out in less than 20 minutes! The one thing he said I should note is that they advertise as "24 Hour Roadside", but when he called, on a flat at a gas station around the corner from their shop, no one offered any roadside assistance. First time was a quick and go no problem there. Get what you pay for kinda deal. I came back for another hole in the tire the dude that run the place gave me a plug and go and told me it's safe. A week later same tire pressure leak came back two different guy was there I ask if I could get another used tire replace they made me wait half an hour took my tire out and gave me a used same size tire but different traction. They didn't bother to check if have the tire I want in the beginning. They say it can be patch and they'll show me the water test that there won't be bubble. In the end I see bubble.
