Had to get 3 tires for my old car. The tires were decent but they made them seem like they were newer than they are -- 3 years old with good tread and good brands, but the cost was double per tire what i paid at another tire place I went to recently (Austin Tireman) and the tireman tires were in better shape. Other than that: service was decent and quick and they were fairly up front about the price. The Also, not a big deal, but they don't have a waiting area, so you have to sit out in the hot sun while the work was being finished (major downside in austin summer). Overall: Going here was a mistake. They've gotten good reviews in the past for being a solid budget used tire place, but something must have changed in recent years.. Not a terrible place, but nothing to write home about. If you want a great deal/experience -- i had great luck with Austin Tireman a few months back. Very up front about prices, honest, very affordable, good quality, excellent service, no bs experience, you will leave feeling good, and they have a waiting area. I went in because I noticed my tires were a little low. I was there for a total of 5 minutes, the guy barely talked to me and still, I was charged $12 for them to pump air into my tires. I initially was told it would be $5 for them to put air in one tire, then $10 for all tires and then magically there was $2 tax that was included with no calculation. I've never been so disappointed. If u didn't need the air into my tires I definitely would've gone somewhere else. read more

First, they don't do plugs here. I was told that my tire needed a plug instead of just a patch. So instead the guy suggested that I buy a used tire instead of patching it because the patch probably wouldn't stay. He firs showed me a used tire that was too small, which I had to pint out. Then he brought out one the right size for around $150. Since I did not want a different tire from the rest of my tires, which were only 2 yrs old, I declined and told him to repair my tire with a patch, which he did. When I returned to my home town, I had my guys at Goodyear take a look at it and they said that the patch has to stay on because it's too embedded into the tire. I gave only two stars because I felt like the guy was trying to scam me into buying a used tire instead of just repairing my tire. I would never go there again. read more

Leal's helped me out when bigger shops wouldn't service my tires because they were too old. I needed balance, rotation, and to know if my spare might be better short term than one of my main tires that was super uneven. Despite the crew not speaking much English, they were able to identify the problem tire, re-balance the spare, and rotate everything. The scary wobble I had was gone, and they were willing to do the work when I couldn't afford a whole new set of tires yet. read more

I went because I had a flat tire. On a Sunday I knew my options would be limited with lots of tire shops closed. I tried my luck at Leal's and was very pleased. My tire was ruined so I opted for a used tire. The gentleman checked the tire he was giving me TWICE and then installed it to my rim, then to my car. Used tires start at $70+ and new tires $120+. I was out within 30 minutes. I would definitely recommend this place if you have any tire issues. Even with how hot it is they were still wearing masks. Great place 5 stars for sure. read more

Another tire shop where the techs don't understand tire measurements, offset sizes, and directional tires. And if their incompetence frustrates them, it's coming outta your wallet. I've been to the Leal's on MLK once where the tech thought that a 245/35 and a 255/35 were the same tire because of the 35. At least they didn't try to blame me and then rip me off, though. The E. 7th location was a whole nother story. I showed up with 4 wheels and 4 tires, not on a vehicle. The new tires were identical to the used ones. I let them know that there were 2 different sized wheels and 2 different sized tires and that the tires were directional. 1st tire came out correct. Driver side rear. 2nd tire (a front) looked suspiciously squeezed like it was on too large of a wheel but hard to tell. 3rd tire was a front and was narrower on the wheel. I explained to the tech that the 2nd one was a front tire on a rear wheel and how I could tell. They took it back. I reminded them that the tires were directional and that we currently had a driver side rear and passenger side front. Things were still OK at this point. Then the other front tire came back on a front wheel. Yay! Oh, but it's rotation is for passenger side. Once again, I get the tech and show him the issue. At this point, he goes to his buddies and is very upset and telling them "it's his fault. he told me to give him a passenger side tire". A second tech has to come take a look and I show him how the tire is directional and they're both going the same way. They finally finish up and I get the price. Now this is for some stiff sidewall, hard to mount tires. I don't get them balanced, only mounted, and there's no work of taking them on and off the car. Leal's on MLK charged $7 per tire for this. There is a service that will come to my house and do this in my driveway for $60 total. These guys were frustrated (due to their own incompetence) and said it would be $120. I talked to the lady at the counter who said it was $100. Either way, a complete rip off. I talked to them about it but they were sticking to their price. This was a garbage experience with at least one individual who couldn't take responsibility for his own shoddy work and made everything my fault. Even if I had shown up to your shop and told you to mount the tires incorrectly, you do this for a living. Take the 4 wheels and 4 tires, pay a little attention to a few numbers and arrows and don't fuck it up so bad. Will update my review if they don't hold air (knock on wood). read more

Got a flat tire on a Saturday morning on the way to Zilker with my dogs, not a fun way to start the weekend! I looked up tire shops near the Eastside and this popped up. I called ahead, they answered the phone right away and when I pulled in, they were ready to help, friendly and super consultative. I love that this is convenient and close and also affordable. The guy Jimmy could have upsold me on a brand new $400 tire but ended up offering me a quality used tire at a quarter of the price. Tire heaven's here! Look at these two tires that needed replacement! Both tires were falling to pieces like in a Patsy Cline song and each one had nails. Crazzzzy! I can't believe I lived to Yelp about it. And here I am! First, I went to Discount Tire, which was charging me $301 plus tax and additional hidden fees. (I needed two rear tires.) I told myself: "Joey, you need to seek tire bids and estimates elsewhere." I get bids where I work and for home repairs, so why not for other items, too? Hence, I started the journey. Then, I remembered Leal's Tire Shop. I went there, and next the tire fairy sent me to a new location named Los Gomez Tire Shop. I drove up and friendly Arthur walked to my car. He said he'd help me out in a few minutes after finishing another tire installation. Arthur showed me one tire in need of more than a patch. He showed me the showroom and gave me time to comb through a few tire choices. He recommended two pre-owned tires, $80 each. They're Goodyear brand and are nearly new. Both tires were installed within 35 minutes. Arthur may even invite you for a car photo in front of their local art mural. Thanks, Arthur! Look at the pictures! They're rockin' rear tires for the low-profile look. Man, I saved hundreds to use for something else this summer. Soy feliz. Yup, I'm jolly from ear to ear, y'all. Get your tire estimate here. So glad I stopped here, I had a lumpy tire for the past two days. Fortunately they were open they were very friendly. The owner has an amazing attention to detail the tire. I was going to get had a defect. Unfortunately she didn't have another tire at the same size used so instead she got me a new tire. Charge me the same price! They want me over I will stop here for my next three visits, since my tires are about to go out anyhow might as well get some new tires from them. It's worth it and I love supporting small business since they're the only ones that would give a crap about someone in my situation. Your service is fast, and really honest. I had another flat last week unfortunately they were closed so I found a shop that was open and got my tire. Replaced nowhere near as good as this tire or even the used tires that they had there so I would recommend this shop to anyone who fears the common Ups selling and jacking up the prices. I just have to put in a plug for Leal's. I've been coming here for over 20 years now. When they moved from Cesar Chavez & Chicon I was in a bit of a panic wondering where I'd go! Then they reopened at E. 7th, whew! Every time I've tried to go elsewhere I've learned I should have come here instead. Case in point: I had some tires on the car that I bought elsewhere, can't remember the place right now, but I'd needed them in a hurry and it was one day when Leal's was either closed or I couldn't get there. So then last week I had my oil changed at Howdy Honda dealership. Asked to also have a tire rotation/wheel balance because I'd been experiencing a shimmy at higher speeds. Thought I might as well kill two birds with one stone. Guy says we'll inspect them. Got the car back, with an "inspection" report saying tires were fine. Well, a couple days later the annoying shimmy had turned into an alarming shake! Called Leal's on a Saturday and Jimmy said just bring it in and he'll have a look. So I did, and he immediately diagnosed my problem as a large bulge on the right front tire. Even I could see it. How did those people at the dealership not see it? That tells me they didn't even look at the tires when they rotated them, let alone inspect them. So Jimmy gave me a choice to either replace the one bad tire, or get a set of new ones for the front, along with computer balance for both front and rear, with a good warranty. I opted for the latter and, less than an hour later, drove away with no more shake! The price was also very fair, and I got a 65k mile warranty. Moral of the story: if you have any issue to do with your wheels or tires, just go to Leal's. No point messing around with any other place. Leal's is the best! Thank you, Jimmy! read more
