I was driving to my destination on 71 when I noticed my tire pressure light was on. I'd bought my tires at Discount Tire on Research Blvd. So I pulled into the Hwy. 71 location. Andres was very friendly and professional. The staff were able to put air in the tire, but I have to go to my original Discount spot as they weren't able to get the lug nut off (later I went & that Discount Tire was also great, but I had to get a referral to Rush Automotive, who are also awesome.) My daughter went in for a damaged rim, the 2 front tires where a 4/32, rear at 7/32. The sales rep clearly taking advantage of a woman by themselves. Sold her 4 tires and 2 rims, to create a full-size spare. He also added the roadside certificate without asking. My daughter had asked him not to change the rear tires, his response was we already pulled it in the bay, when she pointed out the tire have not been touched, he ignored her and walked away. Once completed she had to request to see a receipt and that is when she discovered the certificate charge, she had them credit her card and remove that. Im a loyal discount tire customer already, but I have to say, this location impressed me just at the air check. Their lobby is currently under construction but are open and have tents outside for you to wait under the shade. Usually when I have my tire pressure checked it's in and out they don't concern themselves with anything else, but here, while I'm waiting in line they do tread depth and safety checks on my tires - I've never had that done for just an air check. Makes me feel 1000x better being on the road and I know where I stand if I need new tires or not. Elton the one coordinating the line was very courteous, respectful, and professional, his tone was something I could really appreciate while he did the safety checks. Service requested was completed in that my tires ordered were placed on vehicle in timely manner. Thorough they damaged my fender liner. Take it back because the torn fender is now rubbing against my brand new tires and they all look at me like I'm crazy denying having done it. One did help me pull into the bay to remove the tire to take a look and when I showed them continued to deny it and attempted to place the blame saying someone else must've been under my car working on it. Even though they were the very last ones there and the car was not making that sound before. I purchase another fender liner to replace the one they tore and attempted to come back to just get help putting on and they can do nothing but rush me out of the bay saying have others waiting..how about help fix what is messed up first THEN tackle another project. He noticed that my hubby had ordered the wrong back tires. He called my husband and they corrected the choice before work began, and we got the right tires because of Stacy's attention. I've used Discount Tire for 4 cars now, and my Dad used them when he was alive. He always told me they did great work and had excellent service, so I've been going there for 25 years. I always experienced great service up until yesterday. I hobbled in on crutches to deal with a flat - first trip on the road after surgery was straight there. Dawson greeted me with a smile and seemed so calm and kind and took care of me right away. I waited while he went outside to check my tires as getting around is hard now and he suggested it. Normally I go out with them to assess tires together, but it seemed reasonable to me given the situation. When he came back he said I definitely needed a new tire since mine had a gash in it, which I figured. My other 3 tires were running low on tread and he recommended just to go ahead and do it while we were there. Normally I'd ask more questions about this, especially given my car only has 26,000 miles on it and I rarely take it on the highway. In fact my "drive safe and save" app shows I have food cornering and rarely speed. I'm a good driver now. Can't say the same for my past self! I had to go to the dealership to get my wheel lock key as I didn't have it on me. The manager looked at my tires and had another employee confirm - I did not need new tires. In fact I had a lot of life left in the safe zone. I double checked it at home to be sure. In fact, the size tires Dawson sold me were the wrong size. He did casually mention it but a acted like it wasn't a big deal. The dealership said they really don't recommend that. Another friend said the same. Maybe it's fine, but honestly why risk it? I like to give people the benefit of the doubt when I can, but I feel so taken advantage of right now. I went in today to ask for a refund and he gave it to me, no questions asked. I'm happy to spend good money for businesses with good ethics, but it's harder to find these days. I don't even know who to trust if you can't trust Discount Tire anymore! read more
