Had my wheel alignment done for the first time at Tire Man. I got there 30 minutes prior to them opening because I know it's first come first serve! They open the doors right away, and was serviced quickly by a lovely gentleman. There's not really a place to sit and wait, so you'd have to go across the way to Radio Coffee.. service and quality work was awesome. When my trusted mechanic mentioned there would be a several-hour wait for a new tire due to a backlog of work orders, I decided to look for alternatives and found Tire Man. The shop is admittedly a bit cluttered and cramped, and some of the staff either didn't speak English or weren't particularly communicative with me. However, they told me the entire process would take about fifteen minutes and -- though it ended up taking closer to thirty -- it was still far quicker than the alternative. In the end, I drove away with two new tires in a fraction of the time I would've spent waiting at my usual spot so overall, the experience was pretty great. Tire Man may not be the flashiest shop, but they get the job done efficiently, and I appreciate that. read more

Someone recommended Tireman for flat fixes so I brought my car here when I had a nail in my tire. They said my tires had foam in them and couldn't be patched (and if they could, it'd cost $50). They then offered to sell me a new tire for nearly $400, or suggested replacing all 4 tires with tires that didn't have the foam so they could be fixed in the future. They didn't tell me *they* couldn't fix the tire, they just said it *could not* be repaired. Before buying a new set of tires I called Discount Tire down the road to get a second opinion. Discount Tire said the tire could be repaired (though it was a slightly more involved repair job because of the foam) and that they'd do it for free. On top of all of that the owner and man who I think was his son both seemed completely indifferent and were borderline rude. I would strongly suggest avoiding this business. I would have been totally understanding if they'd simply said they didn't *wan't* to fix my tire, but telling me it was unrepairable and proceeding to try and sell me a replacement tired or new set of tires for hundreds of dollars was misleading at best, and dishonest at worst. read more

We are local to Austin and we like to support local businesses but never ever again will we support this business. PLEASE BEWARE! We had two cars with full set of tires replaced here. On a road trip, the tires were not acting correctly so we had them looked at at a shop where we were. They showed us that the tires were put on backwards and the reason for that probably was because they were expired tires. The other car that we purchased tires for at the Tireman the same day just got a flat so we took it to a place here in Austin to fix the flat lo and behold, These tires had already been patched before ...we were again sold used tires. Bought full set of new tires over the summer from these guys. Live nowhere near the shop and needed a patch for a nail so went to another shop near me.. woke up on a flat next day. Went back to patch job shop and was assured it was ok and given some explanation I didn't understand as to why it was flat after the patch job. Woke up today,, flat.. drove to Tireman and they found s a second nail in sidewall. This place is great. I've been going here since I bought an old used truck and did the ole buy a tire as you need it. Turns out, over the first year all four ended up getting replaced. Every time I've gone in there I've had fun conversations with the counter guy. Today I had an issue with one of the tires and turns out it had a bubble on the inside of the tire. Now even though there is no warranty offered at purchase time they are good to loyalty and even better. I was in and out in less than 30 mins. The tire I ended up buying was half the cost since I buy there. But even more so convenient was the fact I was in and out like that. It's not like all the other place where you make an appointment and still have to wait. Your time is priceless and they offered it here. The service is great. I got a flat tire across the street. I thought I was in luck they were there. They asked me to drive on the rim to them instead of just sending someone to help me put on a spare. I realize now that they planned to hold my tire hostage. They did not have my tire in stock. I had to drive back and ask for my tire which they should have 100% asked my permission to keep in the first place. It was under warranty but close in price to Tire man and I wanted to support local so I said order the tire. I don't live nearby so I was making a point to drive more miles on a spare. I got there and unfriendly to the point of shock is an understatement. No acknowledgement. Said it would take a half hour once I was given attention. I went back across the street until I saw my car parked in a space. I have no idea what kind of warranty this has, because he wrote nothing down, even though I asked. I have a feeling I got ripped off. My car was driving poorly. Surprise surprise they did not check or adjust the tire pressure at all and just put on a tire and that is it. The new tire is almost 20 over what the pressure should be and the rest of the care is 3 different pressures. Lazy, professional, dishonest and unfriendly. Avoid. I have regrets. They should have never asked me to drive on my rim. They should have never stolen my tire. And they should have bothered to do their job. Avoid. Sometimes local just screws you. read more
