First I find it interesting that people say it is expensive. I have been here several times since they opened, and each time is as good as the next. just over $10 for a half pound pulled pork sandwich and a generous portion side. Compare that to others in the area, you will pay about the same or even more at other locations. For the meats, I would have to say the pulled pork or the brisket. Both are tender and just fall apart. One of the things I enjoy is going in ordering a pulled pork and watching how they separate and shred the meat, it falls apart, (Amazing). You can walk in and observe the freshness and quality put in. For side the Mac and Cheese is a great rendition of family style, and the coleslaw A+. Staff have always been very friendly and service has been quick. An in the area of Everett where most local employees have a short lunch you can get in and out real quick. The everett/Colby location was awful today. Meat so dry that it was inedible. Even the bread was dry! The Mac and cheese was lukewarm and congealed as were the potatoes. I think they scooped cold gravy into a container and nuked it. Serious disappointment and 8 of us left hungry. Won't be going back! read more

Great find in Everett! We had the brisket and the pulled pork sandwich. The meat was tender, juicy and very flavorful. We were pleasantly surprised! Corn bread with honey butter was very good... glad we decided to try that even though we were super stuffed from the meal. Food was on the pricier side, but that's what it costs for good, high quality meat that doesn't make you feel sick after eating. Portions were ample and very filling. Heads up: no kids menu. But macaroni and cheese, baked beans, corn bread, etc. make great sides and are good portions for kids. read more

J and L is the best BBQ! I stumbled upon their joint in Snohomish and immediately knew I wanted this for my party! The brisket is in believable as are the ribs and corn bread and...I could go on and on. If you're near either of their locations you've got to eat there. On the subject of catering, the owner Joel was so accommodating. He let us come in (20 of us) and take over the restaurant after closing. It was more than I ever expected to celebrate my 60th birthday and manager Kris and the other girl that worked were so great and put up with our craziness. The bbq place was very busy on this day. After waiting in line for a few minutes I decided to try the ribs, brisket, and chicken. The ribs and brisket were delicious. The texture and bark was perfect. I would not change a thing here. Chicken is a little more difficult to smoke because the skin can become rubbery and very chewy. I am not a fan of smoking chicken. Having said that their smoke chicken was okay. I had the beans and the potato salad. Both were very complementary to the meat dishes. The prices are reasonable. Ordered their tri tip sandwich and it was so good! The meat was smoked perfectly and so tender and juicy! It was literally piles of meat with a side of bread! In order to eat it, I'd have to deconstruct it but it was still delicious none the less. It gets busy during lunch time and I can see why! Their potato salad was really good. I came in today at the Everett location and got the brisket sandwich with a side of mac & cheese. The mac seemed liked it was just made from a Kraft box and did not seem to have any originality in it whatsoever. The brisket was the best part of this meal however when the lady went to make my sandwich, she pulled out a bag of bread and every single one was molded over and disgusting. I am a brisket connoisseur and tried all of the great spots around Seattle. Generally, I like J&L. I like that I'm ten minutes away and the staff is awesome. The brisket though, is hit or miss. The past two times I've been there, the brisket was either dry, or lacked that smokeyness that just grabs at your taste buds. That could all be because of when I choose to go there, and my ridiculously high expectations (Campfire BBQ in Seattle was hands-down the best brisket in town RIP). The sides I usually get are baked beans or coleslaw. Their coleslaw is a bit on the tangy side, not bad. The beans are beans. The corn bread is nothing to write home about. I've tried their ribs also and it was ok. Prices are just about par for the course as far as BBQ goes. This is still my go to BBQ place because of convenience and the hope that one day, I will again be blown away by their brisket. read more

I orderd the pork ribs with baked beans & coleslaw and wow what awesome BBQ food I discovered. Being a fan of good baked beans I must say theirs were unique & amazing. The pork ribs literally were so soft and tender you wouldn't have to have teeth to eat them. I also tried their cornbread & potato salad which were also both divine. Bbq was on point! We have eaten at the Snohomish location before. I prefer this one better. The meat is all smoked in Snohomish. The restaurant had more room and was really clean. We had pulled pork sandwich, tri tip sandwhich, hot link, and chicken thighs. All exceptionally cooked. U can add sauce but honestly the meet is so flavorful and juicy you don't have too. I recommend the corn bread if your from the south this would be more like corn cake. read more
