I'm conflicted. Do people read my reviews? Does anyone care? If I rate this place the way I really feel will it be taken over by ignorant foodies? Or do I just forego a review hoping that the place forever stays low-key and they never lose their vibe or change their recipes. Bah. Times are hard and I want places like this to thrive. Today is my birthday and I wanted barbecue. We had planned on another local establishment that I had tried before but they ran out of ribs before 5pm. So I did a random search for "barbecue near me" and Fat Pig came up. So glad it did. Their location is not fancy. It is as it should be. As we were pulling in my partner said "This looks like your kind of place." I agreed in stunned silence. Yes it is. Yes it is. We got a rack of ribs, corn, cole slaw, beans and a pulled pork sandwich to go. I wasn't paying (birthday and all) so I don't know how much we paid, but I do know that it was significantly less than the other place that had been sold out. It was, for sure, affordable considering how much food we got. My partner had the pulled pork sandwich, which was less than $7 and said it was 'outstanding.' I asked for samples of their sauces so I got to try the spicy and the regular...both incredibly good. The rack of ribs was cut up- and was...plentiful. So much food. Beans were not your typical pork-n-beans, all over sweetened...they had ground beef in them, as well as pork and were more of a texas style chili bean flavor...not candy sweet. The coleslaw, likewise, was delicious, and not sweeetened, which I've grown tired of. I have found a new *local* barbecue joint- and this has me excited. Please go there and keep the place alive and thriving. I hope they keep it up. Don't sell out Fat Pig. :) So- happy birthday to me, and THANK YOU FAT PIG!

Came here with my buddy seeking, well some BBQ. He found out about it as it's near where he lives. Not having BBQ in some time, I was ready. We strolled in on a Saturday afternoon. I got the full rack of ribs, and he got the Pulled pork BBQ meal which comes with coleslaw, roll and baked beans. It was about a 20-minute wait so which it was being made we went to pick up some pints to enjoy along with the food. We got takeout to take back to his spot. The ribs were solid. Had extra sauce at my request. Tender and meaty but lacked a bit on the smoky smell and flavor. Good overall. The Pulled pork meal was tender and sauced nicely as well. I'd say it's a decent price at $27 for the rack and $15 for his meal. I'd return here for sure as solid BBQ places aren't in abundance that I've seen so far, so thumbs up on this one.

My boyfriend and I came in two days ago and LOVED the pulled pork sandwich and full rack of ribs we got, if I could give this place more than five stars I would. The man running the shop was so kind and he had our order ready right when we walked in! Pretty quiet inside the shop but they deserve more business!!

Rack of ribs, coleslaw, baked beans and cornbread.

A friend recommended Fat Pig. I had never heard of it. Im glad i went. They have the best ribs, beans and cornbread! Everything had incredible flavor. The ribs were seasoned and smoked perfectly. I think they out sweet corn in the huge piece of cornbread which is a really nice touch. The baked beans and bacon had really good seasoning too. I was really blown away by it all. I highly recommend the Fat Pig!

Things that this restaurant does well: the ribs, specifically the char on the ribs. I think they excel in chicken/ribs as they are strongest menu items. Portion wise, they are good, and the flavor was well executed. Not the best I've ever had, but definitely meets your barbecue craving. This restaurant can work on a more friendly and clean bathroom, more availability of sauces to share in between tables, and a bit more attention to Customer Service. Nothing was incredibly wrong, but nothing was incredibly impressive.

    Large rib plate.

We were there a bit later, just before 8 p.m. on a Monday, and easily got a table right away. I didn't want too much food - at my age I've learned my eyes and stomach are rarely on the same page - but I definitely wanted some brisket...as an amateur smoker I appreciate how much work goes into beef brisket so always try it when I see it on a menu. So I went with the Happy Hour Caesar Salad & Brisket. For $8.50 it was a great value. The fat of the brisket was rendered PERFECTLY. My wife wanted the baked potato but allegedly someone came earlier and bought TWELVE and cleaned them out. Disappointing! But the two street tacos she got off the Happy Hour menu were tasty. My teenager decided to lean in and get the brisket entree. Fries and Mac & cheese as the sides with cornbread. He added some of his brisket to the Mac & cheese and loved it. Fries were crispy (double fried? Or battered?) but didn't get finished - too much food! I had a couple of beers that were good. The tap listing was available on a screen. Service was well-above average. Very friendly. I can imagine this place getting busy during peak hours but it's small enough that they likely can keep up. I doubt we'll be back. We are from out of town and while we come to the Seattle area often I like to try new places whenever possible. But we were very happy with how tonight went. 4.5/5.0 but it won't let me do a halfstar. Give it a try. This isn't a chain restaurant! We were happy to support this one.

We ordered brisket, pulled pork, collards, mac n cheese, and gumbo. The meats were the absolute highlight. The brisket was phenomenal--very tender, fatty, and ultra smoky. Others in our group felt similarly about the pork. We got the Kansas City sauce and, while it wasn't the best I've ever had, it absolutely avoided the common pitfall of being cloyingly sweet. They promise that it isn't too sweet on their menu, and they're right. For BBQ meat, I think Gabriel's Fire is up there among the top offerings in the area. The sides were less great. The collards were divisive in our group. I liked the initial hit of vinegar and the oh-so-subtle kick in the aftertaste. But others found them bland. I will say I appreciated that they at least appeared to be vegetarian/pork-less. The gumbo was quite bad in my estimation. Its only flavor was the roux and salt, and its texture was unsettlingly uniform. The Mac and cheese wasn't bad; very plain but inoffensive. The fries were immensely greasy, borderline burned, but soggy. The only one of these I'd consider ordering again is the greens. They also have no options for any kind of bread--no rolls, no cornbread, nothing of the sort. Maybe it's unfair to judge a restaurant on what the don't serve, but this felt like something that made the meal feel unbalanced. There is a lot of intense BBQ snobbery in Seattle, with many claiming that we don't have any good options here. I disagree, and my credentials are having done a lot of eating in the South (AR & TX mainly). Gabriel's Fire is good BBQ. We are so happy to have it nearby and look forward to returning.

So between two places this one won. By the looks they probably have a ton of to go orders or single guys having a beer and bbq at the bar top. She's loves baked beans and they weren't her favorite here. The habanero Mac salad was very well taken by everyone at the table. The plates for 1 they have gives great a pile of meat, fries, hand made and little crispy and Mac n cheese, which was good. We had pork, brisket and ribs at the table. All of which was smoked fairly well. The brisket was good and tender. Pork was a tiny bit dry but the homemade bbq sauces made for it. And the spare ribs were cooked well, they were good for spare ribs but I generally prefer a baby back. Overall the service was stoic, he was spot on with everything but looked as if he was busy with a lot of other stuff throughout the restaurant as well. It's a solid place for bbq, so if you're a bbq fan give it a try. Def a solid lunch spot if you and a couple guys were looking for a place to stop.

They also almost always have great specials when you spend over $80! Must-Orders & Foodie Pro-Tip: * Special Lamb: The absolute star of the menu and a non-negotiable must-have. - i like to ask for additional spicy powder on the side and dip more since it is little blend for my liking * The Cucumber + Cold Noodle Hack: If you're a savory girl like me, order the cucumber salad to start, but save about a quarter of it (and the sauce). When you get cold noodles for dessert, dunk the leftover cucumber and tangy sauce in--it adds the perfect crunch and acidity to balance out the sweetness! Drink Note: They still serve beer, but it's a bit sad that they don't sell original/non-flavored soju anymore. One day, lightning struck a tree, causing a massive forest fire that killed many animals. Our ancestors then discovered that cooked meat tasted much better than raw meat. This is why roast meat has always been regarded as an important part of the human diet. Today I gathered with friends and chose this barbecue restaurant. It's located north of Redmond, with a prominent sign and plenty of parking. Ambiance: The decor is creative, but it feels quite contradictory. Barbecue is inherently a very "Jianghu" (lively, rough-and-tumble) kind of thing, yet the restaurant leans toward an artistic, literary style. When I used to run my own restaurant, I followed a principle: avoid anything unrelated to the core dining experience. Seeing many books on the shelves here, I understand they're trying to bridge Jianghu and artistry -- but it clearly feels out of place. That said, the place is very clean, and the stickers/decorations are festive. Service: My high rating for this restaurant is largely based on the service. After we sat down, we were given free appetizers -- braised peanuts, which tasted great. The staff training is very professional, whether it's taking orders, making recommendations, attending to us during the meal, or checking on tables and refilling water. All excellent. Taste: Jianghu-style cuisine is characterized by boldness, satisfaction, and not sweating the small details. We ordered spicy hot pot (Malatang), spicy hot pot skewers, grilled beef, lamb, chicken gizzards, oysters, and many other items. First, the Malatang and spicy skewers tasted almost identical, so it felt like eating the same thing. The grilled skewers were just average -- neither good nor bad. The oysters were very tasty. However, the shrimp in the spicy skewers were very unfresh, which was disappointing. "By the way, the prices at 'Friendship Skewers' are anything but friendly -- I think it's quite overpriced overall."

It's located at the ACE Hardware store on 5th Ave S with Furi Chinese Restaurant and Pancake Haus. As an aside, this site has hardware & garden stuff and things plus vehicle licensing, mini grocery store, Hometown Smoke N BBQ and a dessert spot for specialty cakes & cupcakes. By the time we arrived around 4pm, the brisket was sold out already. Originally, we were going to get a family style order (Cowboy Carry Out) to sample most of the proteins and sides. Glad we had more restraint and opted for one entree with quarter rack pork ribs (3), double side order of smoked mac & cheese, cornbread w/honey jalepeno butter, and added a bacon wrapped bratwurst. Also, we noticed to the left of the order counter a nice selection of beverages, deli sandwiches, and bulk spices. Bought a sarsaparilla soda. Payment is made at the front registers by the entrance. Made sure you get a hardcopy of your receipt. Shortly, thereafter The Homie was handed the goods, nicely packaged. All around efficient and pleasant customer service. Thankfully, I keep compostable utensils and napkins in the car. Soda - refreshing and a great deal at $1.99. Pork Ribs (3) - dry rub no bark, no sauce, lean, scant smoke ring, fall off bone tender, but kind of dry, not succulent. Bacon wrapped bratwurst (1) - strangely tasted like baked beans, no overt sausage or bacon flavor. There were flecks of cheese in the bratwurst. Double order of smoked mac & cheese as the selected sides - components were obviously there, but very bland. Cornbread w/honey jalepeno butter - rather dry and crumbly. Butter will be used on something else since the cornbread disintegrated in the takeout box. Perhaps would return but to only try the brisket that was sold out during this visit.
