Wanting a second opinion and feeling something was off (way off) i found A1 Auto on Monroe and Friends and brought it in. The tech came out with a odd look on his face and said "I don't know why that other shop wanted to replace the entire rack n pinion, we can only find a leaking power steering pump. At best it might just need some new hoses. At worst it needs a $500 pump and that's it!!" First time visiting this shop and they've saved me several thousand dollars already. Why do some of these other shops find woman as easy targets to rip off? HOW is that a good business practice? A1 Auto Center's motto is WE'RE LADY FRIENDLY and I AM LOVING IT! We made it to Aamco an hour before they closed... they were able to get a new seal, install it, readjust our driveshaft at the differential, and get us back on the road before they closed, for $130. The manager was top-notch--- hilarious, kept us highly entertained as we waited, and he did a great job. When we lost our pin for our trailer hitch right as they were closing, he still managed to get another one for us, and figured out how to install it while the trailer was loaded and partially attached. And didn't charge us, and wouldn't accept a tip. When we first unhooked our trailer, we asked the mechanic if he didn't need a floor jack. He said no and just reached down and dead-lifted it up in the air. There was some weird confusion in the beginning of the deal, where there was a wrong address for an Aamco in Swanton that doesn't exist, and another Aamco number we called told us they were AAA Transmission which turns out to be located right next to Aamco and apparently used to be Aamco but lost their franchise, and still get the phone calls... it was confusing and awkward to start. The end results were great though.

I would recommend seeing him, and if you think about it tell him, I recommended you. Get a lot of my work done on my Jeep Wrangler there but sometimes it is pricier to get dealership work, and when that's the case I go elsewhere. I just had some recall work done on my Jeep and the service guy quoted me 2-5 hours to get the job done. I thought that was a big-time gap and thought it should have been more precise but to top it off it took 7 hours. I had to call them three times to find out when it was going to be done. I think the guy I was dealing with was new or something. I wanted to be kept up to date on my vehicle as that affects my plans. So for the service department, I give them two stars rating and say they need to keep their customers up to date and call them back promptly. They do offer shuttle service which I think is nice and important to me as I could need this service. Lol glad I didn't decide to wait there for this last job, ie, the 7-hour job. I also rate their parts department only two stars. I called about a part for my Jeep that they did not have in stock and they refused to give me the part number. When asked why I couldn't get the part number they said because then you will find the part online for cheaper and we lose business. Won't be buying parts here anymore! Called another Jeep dealership in Toledo and they gave me the part number and was fine with me ordering the part online somewhere else.
