We moved to Florida in August 2025 and the house was not "move in ready." We lived in a hotel for several weeks since our movers piled our belongings every way blocking doors, windows, and appliances. Since the laundry machines were in a closet, we could access the units. The dryer kept turning itself off so we called for a dryer vent cleaning. Antonio the clean air specialist was extremely professional and knowledgeable. He revealed over 6' of wet, icky lint and reshaped foil pipes to make sure the dryer was safe and worked. He suggested an entire house duct cleaning but with the piles of furniture and boxes, it would be months before they could access all the vents. When they returned for the whole house duct cleaning, they nearly worked until midnight on NYE to finish the job. They were considerate of our children who were not used to a constant flow of workers in the house or living in a fixer upper for months. Antonio is a dedicated worker and excited about learning all he can in his industry. He has a bright future. Meanwhile, the entire HVAC system died. The sales man was a little too much and I kept explaining we were already "sold," we just needed to get on with the installation. He sold us on the UV light systems and explained we were getting a 10 year warranty so if anything went wrong they would come back at no cost-- that included changing the filters every six months in the attic. While I was upset that men were once again marching through our house which was still in disarray, traveling through my bedroom, into the closet, and up into the attic, I stood in awe at how the technicians moved like a well-oiled machine communicating with each other and treating one another with respect while performing grueling work. Each technician displayed personal integrity and focused on their job as if it were their true interest and vocation. I called the office several times detailing how impressed I was with the entire crew. But then things started malfunctioning. 2 thermostats needed replaced, and 2 float thawing devices, and some other things. Each time I called the office, while friendly, each admin required an entire background story and frankly, there were way too many cooks in the kitchen. Trying to get the house functional, we asked for a plumbing estimate to replace many things--toilets, faucets, vanities, shower knobs... The plumber was professional and tried his best to complete the work in a timely manner but things happened. Things behind the wall were not compatible with some of the newer part replacements, a vanity was delivered damaged, a full length mirror needed removed before a vanity could be removed, and so on. A more experienced plumber might have checked the vanity before ripping out the old one but there are a lot of moving parts to house repairs and we were not his only customers of the day. I didn't even think of it. His managers kept pulling him off the job to go to other clients' houses. A plumbing manager quit and the admin team was trying to get jobs done but their managers kept interfering. I trusted the plumber but the office micromanaged them needlessly-- and it's the techs who have the credentials and licenses. As soon as a worker stepped out of the house even if they couldn't work that day, the billing dept would call for payment. Since my mother purchased this house on our behalf while we lived out of state, she offered to pay for those repairs. But she felt harassed by the billing dept. She wanted the jobs completed. When the plumber came back to "finish the job," he said she yelled at the person who answered the phone and told them she wanted them to finish the job and get out. Simultaneously, they had been back about 7 times to fix the hvac systems which they just installed for $22k. She was livid. J&W managers upset her so much she had to go to the hospital for COPD breathing treatments and consult with her lawyer and accountant about their billing practices. The plumber said he would finish the vanity but they were not going to "deal with her." She doesn't live here so I didn't think it would be a problem until water started puddling under that vanity. When I called to tell them, a manager told me our "business was concluded" and hung up on me. I called back several times and he kept hanging up on me. It cost $470 to hire another company to level the vanity. They leveled a smaller vanity at no cost. Today an hvac unit completely died again. I called J&W and they have blocked my calls. So much for the 10 year warranty and filter replacements. It was 83 degrees upstairs and we have children and a bunny. I called from another phone, gave them my address, and they hung up. Are we 5. I've been nothing but kind even sharing our dinners with the techs who didn't have time to eat during the day. But the emotionally immature managers need to accept that their female customers are not their "office girls" and contracts are legally binding. read more

I called J and W out due to my air not working. Elis arrived and seemed like he was mad to be there. No smile, hi, how are you. That's fine, everyone is allowed to have a bad day. After checking things out he tells me that I need a new transformer. I was also informed that it was the dirtiest unit he'd ever seen. He had to go to his truck to write up an estimate. He comes back with his manger on the phone to go over the prices. Not sure why the tech couldn't just just try to upsell me. So the man starts off with it's the dirtiest unit they've ever seen I need this major cleaning and a UV light and recommended a cleaning package. He said it starts at $40 a month. I asked how long and he says 7-15 years. It was hard not to laugh out loud. I said I can get a new one for that. Asked how much it was to just fix the transformer and was told $980. I called 5 companies the morning my air went out seeing who could get there the fastest. Knowing I had other companies on the way, I had them leave. I had two other companies come out and give me a quote. After they did their diagnosis, I told them both what J and W quoted and said. Both laughed and said they are known in the industry to upsell. Both told me my unit was dirty, but no where even close to the dirtiest. I told them both about the cleaning. One of the men said 9 times out of 10, the UV light they wanted to put in my unit to clean it, is normally put in the wrong place. The UV light actually can destroy the unit if it's put in the wrong place. I read a few of their reviews where people state they made their situation worse so they'd be forced to buy a new unit. I feel like I dodged a bullet. Oh, and another big name company did it for a 1/4 of the price. After I saw my emails from J and W it reminded me I used them for plumbing about 10 months ago and they gave me a quote to have my cast iron pipes replaced. $28,500. I live in an above-grade house with crawl space. To say they were extremely overpriced compared to other plumbers in an understatement. Do yourself a favor, call someone else. read more

A few of the techs may be good but the last two we had were more like sales people than techs. 6 months apart they both tried the upsell but neither mentioned the stuff the other said needed to be done. I want people who are going to be honest, not try to sell something. They canceled a few times, didn't seem to remember we had more than 1 unit, and managed to plug the drain line (it was working the morning they came, but not after they left) for the condensate pump. Finally they put a J&W sticker in the breaker box over other stickers. Why would they think that is okay? Can't recommend them at all. read more

Our air-conditioning is less than a year old and now the outside unit quit working already. My parents are in their 80's and my mom has COPD and emphysema and we called and they said they couldn't get anyone today that possibly tomorrow. It's 104 right now on our back porch. We had an HVAC unit installed a year ago. The sales person, Ian came out to our home walked us through all of the unit options with amenities that came with the unit as well as service plans. At some point there were questions around the installation, and the service manager was very receptive to sending someone out to confirm the work was completed to J&W expectations and our needs. We've had our biannual review and cleaning and each technician (Scott Ammenhauser and Tyler Norris) was respectful and patient when answering the extensive amount of questions we had. We are a family that does a lot of research before making large purchases. While other companies came in cheaper, the service cannot compare. I don't recall ever having posted a negative review of a product or service, but in this case I felt it was my civic responsibility to do so. The following events are true to the best of my knowledge. And I have the receipts. J&W installed a new water-to-air heat pump in my 1,650 sq ft home in November 2019, but it was not until the following spring that they were able to make it cool my home. Long story short: over numerous service calls, various theories and explanations for the cooling failure included: 1) the thermostat was not programmed (or not programmed correctly), 2) a temp of 72 F (in December!) was the best the unit could do, 3) some of the vents needed to be adjusted, 4) the fan needed to be turned up, 5) the dehumidification mode was preventing the unit from cooling, and 6) there was too much static pressure in the system, due either to the high MERV rating of the filter or a too-small return duct. It was not until April 2021 - 5 months after installation - that a new-hire technician made the correct diagnosis of a twisted soft plastic drain line (twisted during installation) and quickly remedied the problem. Over the next five years, though, several additional problems arose with the unit - refrigerant leak; malfunctioning thermal expansion valve; malfunctioning low pressure switch; and malfunctioning ambient coil/temperature sensor switch - but J&W generally had a technician out to the house on the same day and they were either able to fix the problem or provide a temporary solution until a part came in. And parts and labor were covered under warranty. In September 2024 - two months before my 5-year warranty would expire - I requested a service call for yet another episode of failure to cool. The technician diagnosed a coolant leak, but was unable to readily locate the leak, and simply recharged the unit with 3 lbs. of refrigerant - despite the fact that the unit had been recharged only weeks before. He did not recommend any additional action. In January 2025, when I requested yet another service call for - you guessed it - failure to cool, I learned that the previous technician had committed HVAC technician malpractice: In response to a coolant leak that he was not able to readily locate, he simply recharged the coolant and went on his way, kicking the (leaking) can down the road. So, when the unit inevitably failed, it was out of warranty, and I was looking at a $1,200 out-of-pocket bill for a diagnostic evaluation. But the story does not end here. Rather than throwing money at this lemon, I decided to jettison my 5-year-old, $12,000 water-to-air unit for a new air-to-air unit. Because J&W had installed the existing unit - heat pump; duct work - and was intimately acquainted with my house and attic, I invited them to give me an estimate for a new unit. The sales manager himself insisted on coming out; we made an appointment (which I confirmed by J&W-initiated texts); and I arranged to take an afternoon off work to make it happen. But on the afternoon of the appointment, J&W was a no show/no call/no text. In fact, when I texted the sales manager - an hour after the scheduled appointment - he failed to answer my text. He called me the next morning at 10:45 to apologize for "forgetting" about the appointment. He had no explanation for why he forgot the appointment or failed to return my text. I called J&W and asked to speak with ownership, to make them aware of the series of issues I had encountered and to determine whether there was a way for us to move forward together. I got a call back from customer service, who listened to my story, and said they would see what they could do to connect me with the owner. It's now a month-and-a-half later - with a new unit installed by a different company - and I'm still waiting to hear back... read more

We've been paying for the yearly gold package for several years, but this past year their service was lacking. We had to finally look elsewhere after they didn't show up for three appointments. When I explained to Margaret, she didn't seem to really care. She said she would refund us for the previous month as well, but they didn't. I feel like they should've refunded us at least 6 months, if not the year, honestly. Each time someone came to check up on something, they either broke something or unplugged something. The system would be worse off than when they'd come to do a checkup. It seemed to be intentional. I also let Margaret know this. They came late. Warranty parts, but the service cost was way over priced. Over $830.00 labor. Plus it "just happened " that another part broke while he was here. Another $350.00, but because it upset me so much he didn't charge me. If I wasn't so up set, it would have cost me a total of approx.$1200.00. I will never call them again. Here's an update. I pay a monthly subscription for a maintenance program with this company so I feel obligated to have them check out my York unit whenever I'm having problems. The guy comes over and keeps trying to show me things that are wrong with the unit. He shows me how his diagnostic machine is beeping indicating an issue with my coils and leaky refrigerant. J&W tells me it will be $5000 to fix it. Knowing J&W lied last time, I got another person to come over and check it out. The new guy was confused because he found nothing wrong with the coils and he did two tests to check for a leak and saw no leaks. The problem was my contactor switch and he was able to fix it in a couple hours of running diagnostic tests for $360 total. So J&W decided it would be a good idea to lie about bad coils and leaky refrigerant and then leave me and my family with no heat until we pay them $5000. I'm canceling my $30/month maintenance subscription with them today. Worst company I've ever dealt with. read more

Requested service on a brand new unit waited 3 hours for a call back to be told nothing could be scheduled that day. So much for 24/7 service. Unit was installed by J&W in July (York brand) and since then it has gone out 3 times in 12 months. Bad part, bad thermostat, and bad thermostat. Our A/C unit died suddenly - not unexpectedly, as it had been hanging on for a few years past its expected lifespan. J&W had previously provided excellent maintenance service, so I called them at noon and they sent a tech out that afternoon. He was terrific in examining the old A/C to see if it was repairable (no) and explaining the new A/C alternatives; we selected one and J&W made us a priority and had an installation team out the next morning. Installation went very smoothly and the tech came out two days later to do a post-check on the entire system. UPDATE: 3 months, multiple visits and 5 techs later (2 from different companies), my a/c will finally be fixed. BUT not by J&W. J&W had two techs out that supposedly checked for a leak. No leak, but same symptoms. The prognosis? A week capacitor and a hefty price tag ($318). The part was about $35 and it took 5 minutes to replace, by my neighbor (YouTube and Google are the bomb.com). Called a different company and was told I have a leak. Called back J&W. Steve came out and checked for a leak. Bingo, a MAJOR leak in the evaporator coil. Because of all the issues, they are giving me a "discount" to have it replaced which still added up to be $$$$ (quite expensive). But of course not after making excuses for why the other techs didn't detect a 'major' leak. Called a third, independently owned company for a second opinion/estimate. Not only did he call the manufacturer and get them to take some money off the part, the total price will be HALF of what J&W quoted, with their 'discount'. Yes, I know. How do you know this last company is any good? 1. A friend owns a business that sells property and manages rentals. This third company is the ONLY one they use. I also asked a realtor for a list of recommendations. The third company was top of the list. I guess that initial visit was really too good to be true. Shady. Stars for good customer service and willingness to correct the problem (part of your job, not an unreasonable request). I took off stars because of the major inconvenience and up-charging. Time away from work for estimates, money for recharging a system that was leaking and at times having to live in a HOT house because of something that should have been dealt with 3 months ago is unacceptable. read more

I hadn't done anything to maintain or tune up my a/c since 2017 when I bought my house. It's been working totally fine but I figured it needed a "tune up" and saw $67 tune up listed in the money pages for this company. For anyone else thinking of doing this....DON'T. It's $67 for them to drive to your house. Once there, EVERYTHING they do is additional. The tech charged $90 to just clean the leaves out of the unit. I was charged $260 for a new capacitor, which my father(who knows a lot about this sort of stuff) said is astronomical. So, my $67 tune up ended up being $417. Will not use this company again for anything. read more

Less than 2 years ago purchased and had an attic installed new AC Unit for $7,000, paid $898 for an extended labor warranty and paid $97 a year later for required annual check. Daughter and I, both Asthmatics, were suffering recurrent upper respiratory and sinus infections so had our air dusts cleaned today thinking it was perhaps a build up of dust and now pollen in the duct system. Six month check completed then subsequent annual check up performed by J&W one year later on 8/23/16 with no problems noted. Had our air duct cleaning done by a different company with great yelp reviews. They were alarmed that this date on the unit was 2015 and showed me photos that our unit was covered with black growth! We were told it would cost us 0.15 cents per sq. ft. to irradiate it in the system and almost another $400 for the UV light to be placed in the AC unit! Upset I called J&W and had to demand that a manager call me back today. Waiting until Monday as we continue to inhale these health & safety risking spores over the weekend was not an option. Got a call back from "Kim" who main questions were to determine if fixing the mold problem was OURS. I was asked if we had our annual check, yes. I was told the 10 year warranty was a "basic" one. I was asked who does our " monthly" maintenance for us, what?! When I tried to reiterate that I was calling to inform then that a new AC unit installed by them just under 2 years ago and checked by them only 6 months ago is growing mold and WHEN WILL J&W COME OUT TO FIX IT, she tried to talk over me and not listen. I was so upset I told her that I will e-mail her the pics and to communicate with me ONLY by e-mail from this point on. I am currently waiting for their response but given the weekend my family and child is stuck in a house breathing mold why they decide if they will do the right thing by one of their customers. I will update this review when we receive a response both negative and positive. For right now the review is one star based on our current experience. Insult to injury is that we had to take out a loan to pay the $8, 000 so we are currently making payments on a moldy system! NOT HAPPY! read more

Aside from confusion about the price we were quoted, which I think is resolved, their tech Cameron was very thorough and confirmed many issues caused by a rushed/poor installation that had actually taken the company who installed it *cough* Florida Home AC *cough* much longer to diagnose which left us unable to cool the house below last summer. I recently purchased a condo that had a unit installed by J & W 6 months ago. The unit was running fairly loud, so I called J & W, who said it was still under warranty and sent an after-hours tech out to take a look. He concluded that the jumpers were set at the incorrect positions, and put them on the "slowest setting" for the fan, AC, and heat. The repair was satisfactory, until the unit became louder and the breaker for the heater began tripping. More on this later. I called J & W again, and the installation manager came out and confirmed that the tech had put the jumpers on the highest, not the lowest, setting. The manager told me he would get me the original installation paperwork, and that he would ask the service department to call me to schedule an appointment with a new technician to at the very least revert the original tech's work. At this point, the manager informed me that the unit was no longer covered under warranty, since I was not the original customer. Fast forward a few days, and I get a call saying the tech was on his way to my house, which surprised me, seeing as I had not yet gotten a call to make the appointment. The kicker was that the tech was the same one who came originally and incorrectly adjusted the system. I cancelled the appointment, and asked about the status of the install paperwork. I was notified that they were unable to give me the paperwork, since again, I was not the original owner of the unit and the office was unable to "divulge someone else's information". I let them know that I was not asking for the previous owner's information; just the model number for the heater, which was not marked on the unit at the time of instal, as it should have been. The phone rep informed me that the model number was private information they could not share with me. Normally, I would not care, but I, and any electrician that comes to fix the tripping breaker I mentioned before, would need this information to install the appropriate breaker in the panel. Having gotten nowhere with J & W after what to me seems like a bait-and-switch to cover their liability, I am now seeking other resolutions to this issue while walking a fine line between freezing and having my house burn down because of an incorrect installation. read more

Just had these people come over to my mothers home to give an estimate for a 3 ton unit for $7,000. After questioning the estimator over the phone about this, my mother is 74 years old and doesn't know anything about a/c's, he said I was a smart ass and told me to come up to Jacksonville so he could compete with me. First of all, If I had a employee speak to a customer like that, he'd be fired. Second of all, there is no 3 ton a/c unit that cost 7k (York brand). I would advise you to look elsewhere and not do business with this company. They are clearly trying to take advantage of an elderly woman. read more

If they make it right I'll update this according, but right now they are pushing us to spend more $$ on updating ducts to accommodate this unit that's too big .
