Updated to add, after filling a lawsuit and having several interactions with the owner in which he tried to threaten and intimidate me, leaving me feeling heartbroken and deflated, eventually Natalie stepped in to have me interact with her rather than John. She was as helpful and kind as she could have been, and through her help J. Brooks did eventually compensate me for the replacement cost of my ring. I've since dropped my lawsuit against them. The real kicker was when I found out that the ring could have been resized without ever needing to be melted down in the first place. At this point, what's done is done. I'm grateful that Natalie did her best to make it right, and I'm eager to move on from this saga. read more

I will say the jewelry is beautiful. However, the people working here are extremely rude, snobby and elitist. They treat people so poorly. It is so shameful they should be embarrassed. My husband bought me a ring for our anniversary 7 years ago from another jeweler. About 2 years ago I lost a diamond out of the center. When I called to see if the lifetime warranty would cover it being fixed, I was informed the company went out of business and I was "shit out of luck". So I now had a wedding ring that I could no longer wear. My husband heard on the radio that J. Brooks would honor any other companies warranty. So we made the 35 mile drive with our fingers crossed. When we got to the store and told Jamie our situation, she was nothing but helpful. She contacted the owner and made sure they would cover my ring. I consigned a few pieces of old jewelry with J Brooks and had to threaten to take them to court to receive the funds from the items that were sold. The items were consigned in July 2016 and were sold prior to Christmas, but when I called in the middle of January I was told the funds wouldn't be available until January 31 (that was not in the consignment agreement I signed). I gave them the benefit of a doubt and waited until yesterday (February 4) to collect funds from the sold items. When I called to arrange to pick up a check I was told I would now have to wait until February 14! They only offered to release the funds to me after I threatened legal action. Their business practices are extremely sketchy to say the least. read more

How often can one say you have a 'personal jeweler'? For over 23 years starting with our 25th anniversary upgrade to my bride's original ring in 1996, to now celebrating our 50th with another upgrade, that is how we have always felt when dealing with John. He not only knows what a 'fun' piece of jewelry should look like and believe me when I say I have bought a number of fun pieces from J Brooks over these 23 years for my bride, daughters and now granddaughter. We have always felt there is no more honest dealer of jewelry than John. In fact, when my daughter's boyfriend asked for my daughter's hand, I recommended he use our "personal jeweler' for this special occasion. While we could have gone anywhere to upgrade her 25th anniversary ring, there is no one we trust more than John. So for this event we flew in from Texas to our 'personal jeweler just so my bride could get her 50th anniversary upgrade that she not only wanted but to ensure that it fit her personality and that is where John truly shines. John does not just sell jewelry, instead he comes alongside the uninformed and creates what I call magical memories that fit the individual which then become family heirlooms. I recently had the pleasure of doing business with J. Brooks Jewelers as I had some jewelry that needed repair. I had several strands of pearls that my wife adores but had worn them out and they needed to be restrung. I also had a men's bracelet that had a loose clasp and a gold chain in need of repair. I was greeted by one of their very friendly associates who was very attentive and patient as I spilled all of these items out onto the counter and explained what I wanted done. The owner, John Brooks came out and personally inspected all the Items that were no longer wanted and quoted me a very fair price that he allowed to be credited toward the repairs of the other items. I can't remember the last time I felt treated so fairly. The repairs were done in a timely manner and much to my satisfaction. I now feel like I have a Jeweler that I trust and can count on.
