My kitchen sink stopped draining right before New Years' Eve. I was determined to do it myself. My poor guest had to go through Draino attempts and them my taking the sink apart and my buying a manual auger to snake it. Nothing worked. Fortunately my neighbor in my condo had an appointment with Bauer for Tuesday 1/6/2015 that she could not keept and she gave it to me. Despite the snow, the plumber came and used his highest power auger to snake my drain. He also replaced parts in my toilet to make it flush better. He told me plumbers hate these jobs. He also told me: "Don't put anything down your disposal on purpose." Put it in the trash. If you need to use it, then run it with cold water, until it clears. Heard what sounded like a leak coming from inside the wall in our kitchen. Called Bauer and they said that since we had the water shut off to the entire house, they would do their best to get to us today. Within a couple of hours they notified us that a plumber was on their way. He helped us determine the least destructive method for getting at the pipe in the wall. He cut it open, got it fixed all for less than $150 and in under 2 hours. This is our second experience with Bauer and they have been quick to respond, provided good advice and helped to keep the price low. read more

They're awesome. We needed to have our garbage disposal fixed on fairly short notice, and Bauer came recommended by one of our friends. Their prices, as far as I could tell, are average for the work that's being done ($395 for a new garbage disposal + installation), and they were the ONLY company who both got back to me and were willing to give me a price estimate without sending a service tech. Joe Bauer, the owner, will call you and talk to you and give you his professional opinion if you are unsure a plumber is what you need. Jimmy, the plumber who has come to my house very often over the years, is wonderful, knowledgeable, and ALWAYS prompt. He also cleans up thoroughly after his job is done. I booked with Joe Bauer because of all the great yelp reviews. After confirming my spot a couple of days earlier (and night before) for a new water heater installation (and sending all the photos and measurements that I was asked for)-Joe Bauer called the morning of my appt to cancel!! He said he didn't know about it. When I called back later to tell the nice receptionist what happened she said "he freaked out" when he saw the old water heater. How unprofessional. At the very least an apology was in order, since I had taken off work and because it's the decent thing to do as a business owner. I ended up paying another company more because they installed the same day. Won't ever use this company. read more

The Bauer team was available, willing to help, and highly competent during my two separate interactions. We had a water heater installed - along with updated piping and shutoff valves - for a very reasonable price. In addition, Jimmy worked to ensure he was able to locate a tank that fit in our tight hallway closet while adhering to proper safety protocols. We were impressed enough with the team's work that we used them again for a hose installation in the front of our home recently. Jimmy also provided straight-forward advice...when something was not worth doing or the route we had chosen had been insufficient, he walked you through the options and pros/cons to enable you to make an informed decision. Overall, they are extremely courteous and highly capable as well as responsive - a combination that can be hard to find in a service industry. Jos Bauer has worked for us for 5-6 years, helping with minor plumbing problems and major heating/boiler/radiator issues. They are professional, friendly, on-time, and trustworthy. We've had several folks from the company work on our house though Jimmy has done the bulk of the work. He could not be nicer. Wanted to get the radiators removed in my home (we weren't using them). Called for estimate and spoke with the owner. Spent 15 minutes going after all aspects of the job. Scheduled a date for 2 weeks later. On the day they were to arrive they call and not only cancel for the day - but say the now refuse the job. I asked what had changed - they said they don't really do that work. WHAT??!!! will NEVER use them. read more

Highly disappointed in the customer service. I scheduled an appointment yesterday for today with a 2 hour window. Lynn was very nice booking the appointment and her professionalism gave me an assurance that one of the two men that possibly would be working with me would have the job done quickly and professionally. Well, the plumber called me 30 minutes after the 2 hour window. He asked if I still needed him to come by and take a look at the job. I said "What happened today? You were suppose to be here between 2 and 4pm." Not upset, just honest. He said, "Well we got caught up on a job." I said, "I understand, but you could have called the customer to let me know what was going on." Once again, not upset, just honest. He then chuckled and said "Really." Wow! I was pretty shocked. I mean, do you think I would want to give you my money after you act that way. Anyway, I said, "You think that is funny?" He then began to go off on a rant which I was not about to listen to, so I quickly said " Goodbye Sir," and hung up the phone. I will not give business to someone that unprofessional, let alone, want him in my home. I don't know what is going on in his life, or what his day was like, and I'm not judging his heart. People can have a bad day. But this is business, and unfortunately, I have nothing else to judge this business by but by this encounter. read more
