Cannot stress enough how bad this store is They hemmed my pants but they took in the crotch instead of the length of the pants I emailed j crew corporate about a refund and they approved it because the botched the hemming But when I went to the store to return it they refused to accept it I then had to mail in my return to a j crew warehouse 2 months later still no refund even though they received my merch 1+ month ago I email j crew again and they ask me to give my credit card number so they can refund it I get on the phone with another support agent and he says they don't have the ability to manually refund it and says he needs to open an investigation that may take 2 weeks or more He then yells at me for sending my merch to the warehouse (like they told me to do) instead of the store (which refused to accept my return) So 8 weeks initially plus 2 more weeks for the investigation / case number. That's 10 weeks of my life spent calling and emailing j crew just because this one store refused to accept my return Of corporate tells you to do something, do it The products here are fine and the sales associates are nice enough but can't recommend shopping here because the hemming job was so bad and because the returns process has been a nightmare read more

Maybe it was because of the sun shining for the first time since before winter on the day I visited J.Crew but the vibes in this store were immaculate!! I had to make a return and also had to buy new jeans which is the ultimate dreaded task but the sales associate here was genuinely helpful and invested in finding me the perfect jeans, without adding any pressure for me to buy, which is such a delicate balance. It was a Saturday and also a big sale was running so things were busy but it didn't feel chaotic. Will be back! read more

J Crew in Hipsterville! Wow, this store rocks. One of the best J Crew's I have set foot inside. Gives the Rock Center store a run for it's money. Cool men's stuff, great selection of shirts and tailored clothing. Great indigo section with cool shorts. They also have New Balance sneakers and Birkenstocks here! Definitely a hipster vibe inside. The women's section is super, especially the 4 styles from Comme des Garcons Play. Decor inside is fab too, the plants and the lighting are so cool. Two thumbs up! read more

I rarely write a review with the customer service being what it is in this day and age. But I had to write one about my experience at the Williamsburg Brooklyn JCrew store on Wythe Street. All the staff - Eric, Nicky, Mary Joe, etc., were just fantastic. All in fact were very professional, caring and attentive. They paid close attention to me as a customer, and provided excellent service, from floor to counter. I felt like this was customer-care heaven, as there are pitifully few stores out there today that will really take the time to notice you are shopping in their store! Let alone offer satisfaction, care and give their honest, educated fashion input toward helping with your own creativity. They also have sales going on and one can get an excellent deal at a reasonable price, but with high quality. I have shopped everywhere across the globe, from Frankfurt to Mexico to the UAE, and of course on line, and this has been the best service ever hands down. Say what you will - I like J. Crew. I like the style of their clothes and they fit my body type well. When you think of it, J. Crew in Williamsburg makes perfect sense. It's a sea of lesser known pricey lifestyle clothing stores all striving to be the next J. Crew. They fit right in. As much as I like J. Crew, I'm never going back to this store again. The shopping experience is going to keep me loyal to the less grand locations in Manhattan. Looking at the other reviews, sounds like my story isn't too unique. I was making a purchase and I honestly didn't hear what the gal at the cash register said when she read the total. I asked her what the number was again and she said "What's the matter, can't afford it?" Note taken, look at the number on the credit card pad by the register. I smiled, handed her a credit card, she ran it through the register, and haphazardly dumped my stuff in a bag. I don't ask for much, but I would like at least a little effort made into putting clothes in a bag. Not that I care that it wasn't wrapped in tissue paper which seems customary in other J. Crew stores, but it's little touches like that which always made J. Crew stand head and shoulders competitors above both big name and smaller stores in a similar vein that Williamsburg is known for these days. Shopping at stores like J. Crew, and anything in that area of Williamsburg, is just as much about the shopping experience and the image that the given store portrays as it is about the products they sell. The image this store portrays a lifeless and sterile environment filled with store clerks who pass obvious judgements on the people who shop there. Getting back to my shopping experience in this J. Crew, by no means did I make a scene. I smiled and said have a good day when I was handed the bag. I've been coming to the location over the past 2 years-- I'm so happy that there is a J.Crew in my neighborhood. The location is amazing-- Huge space and finally they have the same square footage for women's and men's clothing. I get so annoyed when I want to get something for my husband and they have a small selection (not JCrew store, I'm talking about other stores). The layout of the store is on point-- They have great displays on the mannequins. They have all the sizes you need and everything is visible not cluttered. The staff is always helpful, they won't hover over you put at there if you need them to check and item or help you with a cut. Yesterday I had the pleasure of being helped by Debbie-- she was great in helping me find dress pants-- I explained what I needed and she knew exactly what to show me. I like coming here for a great find. Recently they have always had some kind of sale.. Which is amazing! I love a sale. Also if you bring your old pair of jeans you will get $20 to use on your next purchase. The only thing that I can complain about is every time I go to the changing room they have balls of dust on the floor-- They need to clean. It never fails!! Dust bunnies everywhere. read more

This store occupies a gorgeous space ... but the service is way below what you normally find in a J. Crew store. The sales staff are much snottier than at most J. Crew stores and they behave in the way that tourists believe "hipsters" to behave, which I think is an attempt to fit into the neighborhood. I happily patronize locally-owned businesses all over Williamsburg and find they all have friendly and helpful sales staff so I have no idea how being rotten to paying customers is helping you fit into the neighborhood. They have a very small sale section (and you usually have to ask to figure out where it is). When J. Crew is running a promo, other stores clearly mark what's included in the promo - you'll see a sign on a table of sweaters saying that sweaters are 25% off. Here, they'll honor the promo, if you know about it and remember to ask about it, but they don't mark what merchandise is included in the promo anywhere in the store. read more

Wow, someone described this as large store! I feel like it's pretty small. It would be nice if the neighborhood had a separate men's store, aka the Liquor Store so that there could be a greater selection of women's items at this location. Somehow they found space to squeeze in Crewcuts/children's clothes. Maybe this is because there is virtually no sales rack. I went there in the spring to buy a denim jacket, but none could be found. If I could give this location 0 stars I would. Let me start off by saying that this is a honest and unbiased review and I am never one to call racism or prejudice in any situation dealing with people from other races "if you get what I mean" but in this case it was so obvious that I had to call it "like I saw it" clear as day. I have been a JCrew shopper long before they changed their brand identity to be more cool and trendy. Basically they were on par with the Gap. Banana republic was the JCrew back then. (So you get how long it's been). I went in this shop a few times before and never had any issues as far as customer service or anything else. I went in this store yesterday. Upon entering the store there were no employees visible to great you or anything. I was looking on the website and saw a few quilted jackets that I wanted to try. I didn't find an associate so I went and got what I was looking for. As I approached the register area where all the employees were there was a Asian guys with greased up hair who greeted me and immediately leaped from behind the register towards the side of me then a host of employees started making there way on the sales floor. I walked around and piled a few jackets together. I couldn't helped but noticing that everywhere I went and there were a good amount of customers looking around that each time I picked something up or put it over my hand that there was an associate watching my every move. At first I thought oh they are just helpful. At this point I was making my way to the front of the store when I couldn't help but notice the Asian guy with the greased yo hair hastily making his was towards the direction I was heading and then stopping to the right of me as if to gain a better position to what I was doing which I did notice him just shadowing me and at this point it you would have to be a idiot to not see that this guy was watching you for whatever reason other than he thinks you are there to steal. Then I asked him if they had the jacket I liked on M "since he was hovering over me he might as well do something" to which he to me sounded angry responded NO! ok then felt like I wasn't wanted in the store. So I put the jackets back myself and proceeded to walk out the store. Again I am never the kind of person to ever bring up race or anything negative but I had to write this to vent because I experienced something very negative going into that store yesterday and it's sad to see that even in today's world "to what I believe that happened" that there are still people that judge you because of your color. Funny thing is I have the purchasing powerthat I could have bought everything in that store's inventory yesterday and still be able to shop for the rest of the year with no problem yet "i" feel like was profiled like a thief!. Not sure if this is J crews new policy but I always shopped at the men's store on broadway NYC and Orlando has always went above and beyond what this brand represents. I believe that this particular J Crew store deserves no stars based on their obnoxious and snotty sales personnel. The condescending attitude emitted from the staff is throughly distasteful, not only towards myself but towards other shoppers as well. After overhearing 2 sales people speak to 2 different customers and having my own experience with the cashier I wanted scream!!! It's a shame because I do like J Crew, but if this is their new style of customer service I won't be back. I like the children's line, Crewcuts. It totally makes sense to carry the line especially since the neighborhood is full of growing families. I like how the store even has a ramp accessible for strollers. Even though there were boxes that day near the ramp, it didn't bother me too much since they weren't in the way. However I did think it looked a little unkept. I am not ever going back to this location again. My experience was horrible. As I pass the men's section and make my way to the children's section, a salesperson greets me. He saw I had a stroller. There was an unused fold-up table in the way, however I manage to squeeze my way through after trying twice. He obviously ignored me. As I was leaving the section and trying again to squeeze my way out, a salesperson runs quickly and passes me. I understand that she maybe had an emergency. It didn't bother me. However she comes back seeing me struggle . As I'm moving the child sized mannequin, I ask if she could move the unused fold up table. She responds, " The store is always setup this way." Living in the neighborhood, I know that the fold up table on wheels is not always there. She reads the look on my face and then responds, "Except the table." I understand that in NY, space is rare. However I don't have a hard time moving around my child's stroller in other smaller space children's boutiques in the area. They can learn a lesson in customer service from the children's stores I visit; where I'll get the door opened, greeted, and helped. read more

This location is a horrible representation of the Jcrew brand. Terribly mismanaged and represented. The employees there perfectly embody the "too cool for school" vibe that is ever so prevalent in Williamsburg these days. It's such a shame because Jcrew has such a legacy as a great mid priced clothing retailer. I have loved J.Crew clothing ever since my grandmother began giving me gift certificates to the place for almost every occassion when I was a senior in High School. I've been to other JCrew stores in NYC and always had a good experience, but the service in this store was a bit of a disappointment. Admittedly, there were several groups of screaming young children tearing about the place with entitled parents who were clearly oblivious and couldn't care less about how disruptive their kids were and that must have placed some stress on everyone working there at the time. I know that it stressed me out! Anyway, I needed help with some gift returns and I didn't have a receipt and found the staff a little disinterested and jaded. When I asked if it was possible to speak to the manager, I was first told it was no problem and then was told a few minutes later that "she was busy." Normally, I wouldn't be bothered and maybe I'm being a little precious but J.Crew clothing is just too expensive for me for it to coupled with that quality of service. The store itself is quite large, well stocked and more spacious than most others, and even though it is in my neighbourhood, I was turned off by the experience. read more
