The two star rating is for the techs, they were nice but the quality of these nails are not worth $80. They must have charge me for storing my body in their chairs for almost 4 hours. Because the price makes zero sense. And then the owner I'm assuming has the nerve to say to me well when you come back for the filling you can use the powder, like excuse me that don't make sense why would I get gel tips and then get powder. Even the technician who did my nails raised her eyebrows when I was told $80 for this she knew what was up. This is my go to place to get my nails done in New Ro. They always do a great job and try out any new crazy nail ideas that I bring to them haha This time I went more simple and it was still an amazing experience! They cut my cuticles, filed the way I liked and gave me suggestions on what looked great with white polish. I also got a pedicure done and I LOVE the way they do pedicures! Even a regular pedicure feels like a spa pedicure (but I still get spa pedicures done as well :) ) I could post a picture of it but I don't think anyone wants to see my feet lol I just need you guys to take my word for it. They also use all new equipment and a liner for the foot bath. The reason I am giving it 3-stars, the woman who did my gel mani cut really deep on one of my cuticles and didn't tell me until I brought it up... as well as making my nail polish very thick and I hate when my nails look like polish is piled on top of each other... but then on the flip side, she does amazing pedicures and my feet look great because of her.. it's just unfortunate that she isn't the best at nails... usually this place is a 4-5 star rating but it really depends on who does your nails. The nail tech that was doing my nails kept telling me the nail polish wasn't staying on and it was running on the tips of my nails she continued to use the acetone to remove and replace apply about 5 times in one nail. She asked if I had oil in my nails, of course I didn't obviously. However the color finally stayed and then Saturday morning after I noticed my nails were becoming faded and it started to look like the nail polish color was running and now it looks yellow. I'm so dissatisfied and I will no longer go there. I am convince they add whatever in the gel polish both my toes and nails look yellow and not pink. I don't recommend. read more

I went in to J Crystal today with my mom to get pedicures. The French tip and painting were perfect but they barely scrubbed my foot with a super dull file and she dug into my cuticle until it bled. The "massage" was more like a light caress of the skin. The pedicure stated it was $45. When I got the register she charged me $75 and she claimed it was because I got gel. I've been here a few years ago and I remember having a decent experience but this was the opposite. I realize every salon is not the same and that I shouldn't switch from where I'm used to which is $35 for a pedicure that includes a great scrub and gel polish. read more

Went here for the first time today and had a great experience! I decided to do a relatively simple design, but have seen some really elaborate, intricate ones on the Instagram page. There aren't books with designs to choose from, so I would suggest looking at the pictures on Yelp, as well as the salon's Instagram account @jcrystalnail. You can also come in with a design, show them what you want to do, and see if they can do it. The prices are fair, much less than what you would pay for calgel in NYC. What I got was 35$, whereas at places I've been in NYC, it would cost probably 60$, if not more. So far, really good quality and I'm happy with how my nails look. They offer massages while your nails are being done, which is awesome. It was a strong massage, and lasted several minutes. Rebekah- my manicurist- was very nice, patient, and pleasant to talk to. Sunny (the owner) gave me an acrylic tip just on one finger because the nail is a complete mess right now. Everyone I interacted with was sweet and courteous, and I can't wait to go back! The gel manicure is more about the design then the pampering of your hands, but it is worth the (very fair) price to have a manicure that lasts and that makes me happy to look at every time I glance down at my nails :) I'll be back soon for sure- thank you for doing such a wonderful job! read more

I've been going to J Crystal for sometime now. I believe they have new owners and they are both the friendliest people! The staff is friendly as well. I get a gel manicure and no matter who I go to I always love my results. As for their COVID measures - they take everyone's temperature at arrival, have hand sanitizer available, all staff wears masks, they spray the bottom of your shoes. Great gel manicures. The prices are a bit high. I only get my manicures here, I don't like how they do their pedicures, especially for the amount they charge. They do use only quality products, OPI and Essie. You can set an appointment or walk in but sometimes the wait can be long. They accept credit cards but they give you a "discount" if you pay with cash, usually a $5 difference which is a bit ridiculous if you ask me. However, there is an ATM available on site that has a $1.00 fee. The salon is very clean and spacious. Here's a breakdown: CUSTOMER SERVICE: The owners can be a bit weird and rude at times but the Spanish ladies are sweet and they do great work. PRICES: Gel mani is $30 in cash, $35 on a debit or credit card SERVICES OFFERED: Great manicures. Pedicures are just ok but ok isn't enough when you're charging $40-$45 for a gel pedicure. I hate rushed pedicures. It seems like they only take their time when you pay extra for spa peducures. The owners (Chinese girls) can be a bit rude and act like your non existent to them but the Spanish staff that's under them is always nice. They are a bit pricey. Every time I have gone in, they were able to accommodate me almost immediately. The people there are courteous and professional, I have always been treated very well. They have an excellent selection of colors and there work is done very well. The people never came across as lazy or rude, which I have had my share of at other businesses. I have a nail salon located within walking distance from the house, and I dread having to go there for anything... I'd rather make the trek to New Rochelle for much better service. Parking can sometimes be a hassle, but there are lots of businesses around to do other errands and a lovely coffee shop next door which I will review shortly. I found this place through Instagram..I had been going to a nail place close to my house that had about 20 gel colors to choose from so when I walked in Crystal, I was in heaven with 2 walls of color, gel and regular. I knew they did designs so all I did was show them the design I wanted that I saw on Pinterest, and they replicated it perfectly! I came here for the first time this fall after seeing some of my friends nails on Instagram. Although I live in Eastchester it is definitely worth the 15 minute drive through New Rochelle. At previous nail salons my gel manicure would not only be more expensive but it would chip during the first week almost every time! The place is spacious with lots of stations and a 2 walls full of colors to choose from. The pedis went pretty quickly - nothing special but they both did a good job. Mom got regular mani, I got gel mani and both girls did well. The girl accommodated me when I was unhappy with the color being too sheer - she was quick to do another coat with a different shade. My gel mani lasted over 2 weeks without chipping. Prices were fair. Today I decided that maybe after a year, and maybe going mid morning , I would have a better experience especially because is the day before my induction day at the hospital where I'll be delivering.
