As a first time client, I had a terrible experience. I went in to remove the acrylic off my natural nails and get a gel manicure. I sat down and the lady gave me a price. When I went to pay, the owner doubled the price and blamed it on the worker not knowing English. I paid double the price but was clearly upset and said something. As I am drying my nails (because she did NOT put gel nail polish on my nails like I asked!!!) the workers are laughing and making slick comments under their breath, but clearly loud enough for me to hear them because I was the only customer there. This is not a professional business and would never return again. They are scammers and they are rude and unprofessional! read more

DON'T waste your money here. Uneven shapes, chipping after 3 days and 2 thin see-through coats when the staff doing it knew it should have at least been 3 with this color. When I got home I noticed just how transparent and bad my nails looked. $40 plus tip for lopsided round nail shape and chipped "gel manicure." Honestly if I could give 0 stars I would . This salon lacks basic manners and nail etiquette. I paid $40 for a gel manicure that is incomplete and rushed and looks a week old on day one. They run the place like a factory where your satisfaction is their last priority. As I was drying my gel manicure one of the nail techs took the machine away from one of my hands and did not say anything. She simply took it and put her clients hand under it without allowing my gel manicure to cure properly under the UV lights. When I was done the nail tech who did my nails also took the tools she used on me and placed them in a new self sealing sterilization pouch without disinfecting them. Won't be back. The salon itself is lovely. I'd give that 5/5. Now the reason for my low rating is that I went to get my nails done on Thursday. I got a simple mani and fixed one one of my toe nails ( gel pedi from another location). The service was great. The one woman who took care of my hands was very attentive and took her time. The color I chose needed 3 coats to actually show up. That was weird. Anyways, it's now Saturday and my nails are chipped on both hands. I don't do any out of the normal activities. This is the first time I've ever experienced this with a manicure. In this case, I'm not sure what to blame. However, I do know a manicure should last more than 2 days. Completely dissatisfied at this point. I wanted this to be my go-to salon since it's walking distance from my mom. The search continues. I'll be back in another salon once the week starts. First let me start of by saying this has been my go to place for months now. I would book service with the same girl flora most times because she was so through very sweet and really just did a good job always. The people here were very friendly and accommodating when I would Come here. It was perfect location from my place and just very convenient and clean. I have brought several of my friends to this place because the service was so good and just a great vibe. My opinion of this place has since changed. The reason is because last week I booked a Spa pedicure for 6:30 pm. For both my girlfriend and I. When I got There every chair was filled. The women that sits closest to the register with the short hair cut barely acknowledged me. I just moved on and ignored it. I sat and waited another 35 minutes before we were seated... When my girlfriend and I finally got seated, we sat and waited another 10 minutes before anyone started the pedicure. It would have been fine if we had been soaking at least in the mean time but instead we were just sitting there. Not to mention the inside of the tub was dirty I asked for it to be cleaned and basically got ignored. All they did was remove the dirty jet and replace it with another one... When Flora and the staff finally attended to us I said I would like a rose spa pedicure which is 45 dollars and includes a 15 minute massage (my usual as Flora knows) my girlfriend requested a callus removal jasmine spa pedicure with the paraffin (its included). The woman I mentioned that sits close to the register with the short hair comes over and dumps regular blue pedi solution in the water and I had to tell her I'm sorry but I requested My usual rose treatment. She seemed really bothered... she wrapped my legs rushing it too. Once i was wrapped the pedicure started I was completely shocked that Flora had been rushing though my pedicure. She did a very slip shot job on my feet barely cleaning them etc. Once we got to the 15 minute massage, I timed It myself simply because I noticed the rushing. Normally the massage goes the full 15 minutes and when the massage is completed it's topped off with a stone massage. My massage was ended 5 minutes earlier and interrupted so someone else could sweep the floor. So Flora had to move midstream. When she was done she painted my nails and it was fine. Someone had come in to get one of their toes re-polished because it looked to be messed up. At the same time that I'm being serviced, as they removed the polish from the other customer they were throwing her dirty cotton swabs in my spa tub. this was just so disturbing... Before going to dry, my girlfriend asked about the paraffin that as mentioned is normally included and was told they don't do it in the summer and the machine was off. This didn't make sense because last summer they did it and every time we go they have done it regardless of the season. It really just seemed like they turned the machine off because they were ready to close. I went to the front to dry and they turned off the lights while my girlfriend and I were still drying... Then the one guy that actually works at the salon I believe came to my girlfriend to convince her that they were dry and ended up raising his voice at her. My girlfriend was extremely upset and had to tell him not to speak to her like that. We sat and finished drying in the dark then left. The part that really sucks about this is that I went there for so long as stated and had built really good relationships I thought with Flora and the staff and I always gave 10 dollar tips every time. This time I did not tip.... and because of this experience I will not be returning. I think for future reference if the shop is at full capacity and you don't have time to service when someone calls to make an appointment, just say that instead of saying you have the availability and then making some one wait for so long to just be rushed and treated badly. I went in to do a manicure yesterday and the owner told me $22 ..which was fine.I then said I want to come in tomorrow and change the polish for a gel polish , I asked her how much it would be to change it she said $16..i said no problem see you tomorrow. I then went and did the polish change.After I was done they gave me a bill for $30 ..i asked how come its so much when you told me it would be $16 .she said ' its $30 for a gel polish. I've been looking for a new salon and decided to try out this salon down the block from my house. So far I'm really satisfied with my manicure! I couldn't wait to get a moment to do this review. People please believe the bad reviews on this place. I decided against the bad reviews and still came and tried this place out. The place is newly renovated and they have wonderful chairs but the job they do isn't good. Just like someone else stated in another review my feet still felt dirty after getting my pedi. Barely scrubbed my feet or cut my cuticles. Oh and they have an upcharge for just about anything. Callus remover is $10! Top coat on your nails is $1. Even though I was getting new gel they charged $5 for the old gel removal. Just too much especially for Mount Vernon. Now to my hands.. I wanted coffin nails and my nails look like everything but coffin. Some are round, nails don't match in size, just horrible. I went to another salon and without even mentioning I didn't like my nails he started pointing out what was wrong with my "so called" coffin nails. Oh and my total for the bad nail job was $78! I only go here when I dont have time to go anywhere else. Ever since joy sold the salon the quality has dropped tremendously. I went to get a french gel manicure and the layers were too thick and sloppy. My nails looked worse after I left the Salon. Once again I have gone, because I was in a rush and I had a gift certificate. I wanted a babyboomer/natural almond shaped acrylic set. First she spent a minute trying to convince me not to get acrylic. I then explained that you need to use colored acrylic for the look I wanted and she said she understood. She proceeded to use a clear tip, clear acrylic, and to shape my nail into a more round shape. By the time she put the top coat on you could see straight through the nail, and I had to pick a color to put on. The woman is nice enough, but I always hate my nails once I leave. The quality of the service has gone down which is unfortunate because it's a local venue and Joy even had a membership card to help you earn points for future complimentary services, which is also no longer accepted. I would give them 0 stars if I could. Went here on Sunday (6/17) for an SNS powder manicure. They left me to soak off for over half an hour. I asked for the person who did my manicure to cut my nails short and file them round, and she told me she would at the end. She didn't seem to know how to apply the powder, and ran out of clear polish more than once. She proceeded to file my fingers, underneath my nails, resulting in all my fingers bleeding. She then told me I was bleeding because I asked her to make my nails too short. My nails are all different lengths, shapes, and are still bleeding 4 days later. Top clear coat was applied too thick, and is now chipping on every finger. Place is extremely over priced, and they have multiple signs showing the breakdown of how much you should be tipping hanging all over the walls. Will never be back again. read more

I love it here. I've been client for 6 years and although there has been a change in management I still feel like a VIP. Michelle the owner made some changes to the nail color selections and designs to keep young professionals (like myself) clients. I love the entire staff especially Nicole, she is a great nail technician, very understanding, professional and yet personable. What I truly enjoy is when they have not seen me for sometime (because in very busy) Michelle will call to remind me that it's time for me to come in.
