Poythress, and I am requesting immediate assistance regarding a serious and unresolved issue with a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 that I purchased from the Charlotte, NC J.D. Byrider location on May 31, 2025. My family has had multiple positive experiences with J.D. Byrider. My wife previously purchased a Nissan from the Charleston, WV location, and we later bought a Jeep Patriot there as well--both excellent vehicles. Because of this history, I felt confident purchasing from the Charlotte dealership when I saw a 2018 Chevrolet truck listed online. Although the 2018 model sold before I arrived, I proceeded with the 2014 Silverado knowing it came with your warranty and that J.D. Byrider advertises outstanding customer service. Financial Details To complete the purchase, I traded in my Jeep Patriot, paid $1,500 cash, and financed $4,000 over 5 weeks, bringing my total down payment contribution to $6,500. Including out-of-pocket repair and towing costs, I now have $9,175 invested into a truck that I had for less than 90 days. Mechanical Failures & Safety Incident During my short ownership, I experienced multiple mechanical problems: Week 1: The battery failed--truck would not start. Later: I paid $300 to have the truck towed in due to a bad starter, plus a $50 service fee. Shortly after: I paid $175 for another tow because the wire on the replacement starter burned in half due to being improperly tightened during installation. Finally, while traveling to visit family, the truck caught fire on Fancy Gap Mountain. I was able to extinguish it before total loss, but the vehicle was severely damaged. I paid $800 to have it towed to the Charlotte Byrider service department. After a month of calling with no updates, I was finally told the vehicle was being declared totaled. Another month later, I was informed I still owe $2,500 to the finance company--despite the truck being gone, undriveable, and owned for less than 90 days. Communication Issues I have attempted to contact the General Manager multiple times with no response. I have been in contact with Dan in Finance, who stated he has sent emails to management with no replies. Important Safety Note I have documentation from Chevrolet regarding a factory recall related to the exact fire issue this truck experienced. Cole blew my phone up to get me in the office! asked if I could get preapproved over the phone- he cow dung me to death and said I was approved- just come in to finalize everything. Finally got there and COLE doesn't know how to read a paystub! His body language as well as his accepting and actively engaging in three phone calls with me sitting right in front of him told me he didn't care for my business from the jump! He told me he couldn't approve me, which I told him was fine... reached for the documents that he made copies of when he snatched the one with my drivers license and ran to the back. although I asked him for it back, he flat out refused, saying that he was shredding it but he didn't. I watched him put in a large white box. I asked for my paper with MY INFORMATION on it back and the splotchy pimple meth faced manager told me "I'm glad we made the right decision about you" which after reading these reviews I am glad that he chose not to do business with me either! Me and my fiancé went there purchased a car and was told by the sales rep this would help our credit, keep the car for 6 months make the payments on time and we would be able to trade in. Now we're out here today they will not take the car as a trade in, stating now he has to wait why we don't know! The car had 166,000 a 2014 Ford Fusion that was sold to me for 14,000 not to mention yesterday I went to trade it and Ford dealership and they told me to give the car back!!! The car is overpriced and they put me into a upside down loan... I will if nobody gets this car I'll be done paid a little over 25,000 for this car! I'm a first time car buyer and I should of spoken with a lawyer but it's not too late! DO NOT GO TO JD Byryder on South BLVD! This has been the worst experience ever. Purchased my car over a year ago and this have been money pit. When issues arise it's hard to get someone in the line then if they do answer they are rude and nasty. The start repairs before authorization then quote you outlandish prices. I wouldn't encourage anyone to purchase here. Just a horrible experience. I've had to bring my car in 3 times in the last 4 weeks and collectively each visit has totaled $2500. This is by far the worst company SO STAY AWAY !!!! So where should I began hmmmm....I'm not late on my payments and I'm being hounded by the staff. I received a text message pretty much stating that my online has been blocked for non-communication, when I clearly was communicating with someone in the office. I literally called back to back from 2pm to 4:30pm, only finally get someone on the phone stating that it's been super busy I'm the only one in the office. I am a nice person and I work hard but when you are rudely messaging someone over and over again about a bank process that you have no control over what can you do. LaShone Caldwell sent me a text pretty much stating they are going to pick up my car for one payment. And Ms. Kathy who has been helpful, I just wish she did not work there because she works for a rude company that forces her to seem rude as well. I purchased a car from them hassle free in December 2019, I only shopped there cause they were willing to accept my down payment amount and then didn't require a co-signer. I got there and I had to pick two cars they were willing to give me, so ok I found one that had some of the features I wanted then after selecting it they come back with the figures and the down payment increased almost more than four times the amount I was willing to put down on a used car but they got my attention saying payin installments and the first car payment wasn't due for three months I was desperate so I agreed. Then my employer changed our payday and I gave them proof so I needed my payment dates altered since they automatically set up your payment due dates based on your pay days, with proof from my payroll department they said they couldn't change it and I run the risk of having my car picked up if not paid on the due date. I said whatever it is outta my control. I let that slide now since January I have been having an issue with oil consumption, first they failed to put the right amount in when I purchased it so they topped it off then two weeks later the oil light comes back on so I ignore it until my car started acting like it was going to cut off. Called to make an appointment it was over a month out and I was like this is a major issue and it is leaking oil and I am having to put a quart in every two days they finally saw it and said oh we gotta do a test drive it for a 1000 miles and then let see how much oil it uses. I drove it 974 miles light back on now I am told it needs engine work but I gotta wait two weeks when the service managers return to make an appointment. But all along I don't have a reliable car cause the engine may go at anytime. Not everyone has credit issues and I am currently working to save up a decent down payment to get me a car of my choice from a dealership that is selling good quality new and used cars. I'm writing today in reference to a 2009 Hyundai Santa Fe that was purchased December 6th 2019. Just 3 months of driving the car and my family and I are back to square one. I brought the car to be serviced February 14, 2020. After being told there is nothing wrong with the car, i found myself stuck on the side of the road an hour outside of Charlotte. The radiator in the car was sealed with stop leak that's now oozing from the top of the cracked radiator. I have a family and depend on this car to get to work and get my children from school. December and January I've paid roughly $600 each month and February will be a total of $400. That's $1600 for a car that does not work. I feel embarrassed that I'm even having to type this email so soon after purchasing and locking myself into an agreement with this company. My calls have not been returned in a timely manner and the staff seems unconcerned. I honestly just want fair treatment and to no longer be milked for money. I'm back! My fellow consumers. I wanted to share yet another HORRIBLE experience that I've encountered with another JD Byrider employee. I'm uncertain as to whether this breach of professionalism is somehow a prerequisite for the JD Byrider Customer Service Training Classes or if how they choose their potential incumbents has not reached to the level of explaining to them the age old adage.. " The Customer is always right" translated version- the Customer is the reason You have a job!! I had the misfortune to speak to a Ms. Brown, who embraces her job with tenacity and dedication, qualities that are commendable, but when placed into the hands of this rude and highly unprofessional worker is VERY INEFFECTIVE. I received a call from her on Saturday afternoon to use her words "find out about your payment" I advised her that I will not be able to make my payment until Wednesday, to which she responded " for what reason" did you lose hours, was your check delinquent, etc. I responded " I won't have the payment until Wednesday. She said " well I have to give a reason why your not making your payment " I reiterated, my previous statement. She then said " clearly your not trying to answer my question" I said very politely, " Ms. Brown, you asked me a specific question and I gave you a specific answer, I explained that I did not have the money for the payment on Thursday and that I will have the payment on Wednesday" she went on to tell me that JD Byrider is NOT a delinquent program and that since my payment is being paid late, will I have the money for the next payment on time, because we are NOT a delinquent program". I am a person that understands business very well, I also understand that businesses put in checks and balances to ensure their longevity in a competitive market place such as auto financing, however, my understanding cease when I am blatantly insulted and spoken to in a matter that is meant to demean me, solely, because I have experienced a setback in making a payment, for an account that I've had since June 2016, my long standing business means absolutely nothing when it comes to JD Byrider's bottom line. No loyalty to a customer who has been a customer, who by the way, after this contract is over is done. It makes me believe that the courtesy that is extended to customers who shop traditional dealerships versus with buy here, pay here establishments are somehow better off, than those of us who have had some issues in life that have left us striving to get back on track and in the interim have to utilize the JD Byrider's of the world. But to what extent? To lose our dignity at the hands of an individual like Ms. Brown, who after she told me that she would update her records to reflect that the payment would be received on Wednesday, hung up on me as I was " thanking her for her assistance, confirms, that all the money and customers in the world does not make up for decency and good old fashioned etiquette, which she lacks completely!!
