Shady business model and dishonest pricing. Went to look at a 2020 Mini Cooper S. Overall nice car, but major paint chips, bumper damage, curbed wheels, and wheel fender being popped out and misaligned. Not a huge deal on its face, talked to one of the sales guys about knocking some money off the price so that I can do the repairs required. I was told they could do some minor work, but would not budge an inch on the price because, "We price our cars to market and this is the lowest possible price we can sell the car at." Keep in mind, this is car has been on the lot for nearly 3 months as of today and over two months at the time I looked at it. Price when I went in was $15,750. Didn't buy the car. Two weeks later, price on website was $15,000. So apparently they could go down and did not want to. Now, as of today, the same car that has been on their lot for nearly three months is listed for $16,500. Where does this pricing come from? This car lot does not negotiate, treats their used cars like liquid gold without wanting to do repairs, and fluctuates their pricing like the stock market in a panic. Also, what car dealer tacks on $1,500 to the price of a car after it has been sitting on the lot for three months?? Solimar was very nice and pleasant. Great person! Business model is shady. Initially I thought that this a great purchase. I bought my car back in march. I purchase gap insurance and a warranty on my car. It wasn't until I needed the paperwork for the gap insurance they told me that they voided and I only had a warranty. Buyer beware - I know buying an unwarranted used car is a crap shoot but this is a bit smelly. Had been looking for a particular vehicle to buy and when it popped up from this dealer at a great price I jumped on it. Found it a bit odd car was in their shop when arrived and then taken back over for "detailing" before I left. Was told it was being inspected and everything passed. Everything was great until I left with the vehicle and check engine light came on before I made it 30 miles. Problem was bad catalytic converter. Response was nothing they could do and furthermore, no big deal, could just drive it with no worries. Obviously don't know but it makes me wonder if they were clearing codes before I test drove it. Of course they claimed previous owner probably knew and did it before trading. As far as being no big deal Everywhere else I ask about it online and in person says something like this "A damaged catalytic converter requires replacement. Over time, the effectiveness of your converter may diminish until it's completely clogged. Once a converter is clogged, it can completely stop your emissions system can cause a buildup in your engine that could damage other components." $3-$4k repair. Second star because the car is very nice otherwise and price was comparatively good. read more

STAY AWAY FROM THIS DEALERSHIP!!! I had a very disappointing experience with Hi-Line Autohaus. We agreed on a trade-in price and discussed multiple times the trade in value for our car, and I even confirmed it with their notary before signing the documents. However, when I went to sign, the agent distracted us while talking about insurance coverage and did not give us time to read the contracts as we were signing. We did not receive a copy of the contract and we were assured that everything was OK. I was told that I would get a cash refund for some of the trade in value of my old car, but after waiting weeks without getting it, I went back to see what was the matter. When I arrived, I was told that I would not get any refund. When I pressed further, they finally provided me a copy of the contract, and I saw that it had a much lower price for the trade in than what we had agreed upon. This felt like an intentional distraction tactic, and I feel deceived. I would caution anyone dealing with this dealership to be very careful when signing documents. The most disappointing part is that, after I looked up reviews, I found out that I wasn't the only one they've tricked. This company that I thought was reputable turned out to be full of scammers preying on trusting customers. A dealership should provide support, transparency, and respect, but all I got was dishonesty and manipulation. STAY AWAY FROM THIS DEALERSHIP. I should have done more research before even contacting this dealership. I found a 2021 Land Rover Range Rover Velar P250 R-Dynamic S AWD (stock #16113 for reference) on their website and liked what I saw, price was reasonable and what I'd been looking for. I entered by email and phone number to be contacted and received a call shortly thereafter from Tina. She asked a few questions and I did the same with her regarding the vehicle. I was pleased with what I heard and set up a time that weekend to come and look at it in-person. **Keep in mind that I live in VA and the car is in NC, about a 5-hour drive, of which she knew * In the interim, we discussed pricing, my trade-in value, etc. After some back-and-forth, I was told they couldn't come down on the price b/c it was already listed below the average cost of that vehicle, but they would honor the trade-in value I provided to them from Car Gurus. To save time prior to me getting there, after their suggestion, I decided to go ahead and e-sign documents to purchase the vehicle. Everything seemed on the up and up initially, to the point that Tina was sending me photos and videos of the vehicle being detailed before I got there. Well, here is where things get shady and go way downhill. I got a call from Tina the day before I was supposed to drive 5 hours (one-way) telling me the vehicle had to be sent to the Land Rover dealership down the street from them for "service" and wouldn't be available that weekend, but they would notify me as soon as the service was done. After a couple of days passed, I called to inquire how much longer, as I had to make travel plans. And, not to mention, my idea of "service" was maybe an oil change, inspection, something like that. After several more days passed with no word from Hi-Line other than, "we can't tell you how long it will be," I decided to contact the Land Rover dealership myself (since Tina had already told me it was just down the street). I spoke with the service person "assigned" to this Range Rover and he told me that the car was there due to the radiator leaking and needed to be replaced! The service person thought I knew that, and I told him this was the first I had heard of it and was never told this by Hi-Line. To say I was mad was an understatement. So, I called Tina to tell her what I found out and she said she didn't know that either; she transferred me to either Justin or Gabe (although I ended up dealing with both of them) who said the same thing. I told all of them that I found it very hard to believe that NO ONE there knew ANYTHING about the radiator leak. No one could give me the reason as to why it was sent for "service", other than, "it's just what we do for all vehicles before they are sold." I don't believe for a second that none of them knew this major issue. I immediately advised that I wanted to reverse my contract, and new I legally could since it was within the 3 business days of signing it and told them I'd never been scammed like this by a dealership in my life (and, I've owned a lot of vehicles). Do you know they STILL tried to talk me into buying this lemon? Unbelievable. When all was said and done, the contract was finally reversed after about 2 weeks or so (recently). I asked that they let me know when it was completed, and they never did contact me again. The manager of the dealership never even bothered contacting me to apologize for any of this. The only way I found out was by receiving an email from the finance company telling me the car was paid off. I would not recommend dealing with this dealership. All they want to do is make money not matter at what cost it becomes for the customer. Oh, and guess what: they've come down on the price. Funny, considering they said they couldn't do so with me. All I have to say is "wow." I'm typically a very weary customer when buying a car anywhere, especially one out of state. I have to say that every single person at Hi-Line went above and beyond to make sure I was satisfied. I flew into town from Florida the day after I found the car online and spoke to the guys Over the phone about it. I just had that feeling that this was where I was going to be able to trust the process. The moment I pulled up in my Uber, my salesman, Neil Skipwith, was waiting on me at the door with an umbrella. I had just flown in in the middle of a tropical storm and the weather was not playing nice. Neil was noticeably grateful and relieved to see me and immediately came to usher me in the door. The whole office was all but cheering that I had made it safely through the storm. Neil and the financial man (pardon me, I just can't remember his name and he was so amazing! I think he might have been top management, maybe even owner?) already had everything laying out for me and ready to go. All that was left to do was look at the car. They brought me a soda (or two) and conversed with me while we waited in between steps. Neil and I took the test drive together (where he proceeded to open every door, hood, nick and cranny for me to inspect) and sat in the backseat for social distancing purposes. We went on a longer test drive than I have ever been offered before. Every question I had, he had an answer or went out of his way to find out for me. We wired the funds to the dealership to pay and the man I mentioned previously continued to check the bank statements periodically and updated me as soon as the funds had cleared. Neil knew I would be driving back to Florida in the storm and offered a free night's stay at the Hilton downtown if I felt it wasn't safe enough to leave or if I simply felt uncomfortable doing so. I declined as I wanted to make it halfway before stopping, but Neil then went out of his way to fill my gas tank up. Every single person in this dealership went above and beyond- even the guys/ girls that were not working directly with me checked on me periodically. I was in and out with my new car in less than 3 hours. I have since driven it all the way back to Florida and I have to say this car is INCREDIBLE! Impeccably maintained. I can't think Hi-lIne auto or Neil (or financial man) enough for this great experience. Ps: forgot to mention, I even overheard Neil talking with someone about the fact that he was actually not even supposed to be working that day but he came in to finish the deal and stayed beyond the time that he was needed in order to see me off. I asked him specific details about the car (car origination, pictures of engine bay, car fax). Ash was very informative, personable, and sent me all the info right away. Ash informed me that Hi-Line Garage guarantees their cars had structural integrity, mechanical quality, and cosmetic reconditioning which is why they non-haggle pricing. I was satisfied with all the information he presented and I was on my way. Ash's superior customer service did not stop there. He called me half way through my drive to check up on me and informed me my car just got out of detail. When I arrived at the dealership, there she was...all shiny and winking at me. I knew she was mine. I didn't even test drive car since I brought my own mechanic to evaluate the vehicle. After I was satisfied with the test drive, Ash showed me all paperworks and inspection reports. Everything checks out and on to the paperwork. The paperwork took about an hour. In my opinion, that's really fast but it could also be because my credit is good (although my APR was higher than expected 5.99% for a 745 fico) Overall, I rate my experience here a 5/5. PLEASE DO NOT PURCHASE FROM Hi-LINE AUTOHAUS or use their SERVICE. I sat in there today to have multiple people come in with varying experiences on issues with their cars that they have recently purchased. THEY SELL LEMONS (one couple only had car 3 mos and had in shop 6 times and was fed up to come and trade for something else, another man car was givihf him issues.) After only having my car for 2 years. I have engine trouble even though i did all tune ups and maintenance. On top of that I come to them after taking it to a a reputable mechanic who gave me paperwork after it was diagnosed showing all that was wrong, telling me I had engine troubles. I came to them to see what they could do about getting me out of this one into soemthing else since i still had payments. In the process of doing that., they smoothed talked me stating they dot really think its the engine and they thing its a few small things and they want to do another diagnostics. Because they don't think it's what the first mechanic gave me. I come back the next day like they suggest and stay 3.5hrs ther for them to give me the same diagnosis as my 1st mechanic to a tee. And now wants to charge me for a coil they put in that I didn't ask for. Then when I dispute the $300 charge they say well they out the part on there but really the compression diagnostics cost 300 and they just put the part on the sheet but they didn't charge me for that. They didn't want to release my keys to my car unless I paid. I must say the issue I am having now I had 5 mos after being off the lot. I have emails to prove it. The car started shaking and I had to pull over. They thought it was spark Plugs just as the mechanic initially thought this time amd all along my engine was at a low compression.i guess I should be lucky it lasted 2 years. Again, find another reputable use car dealership who sells quality cars and a service shop that k ow what they are doing. Because the stories I heard from other customers today was ridiculous. More people were walking in today with issues to the sales room than people buying a vehicle. After all that he recommends I take it to carmax or carvana to pawn it off on them to see if they would give me.more money for it because they could only give me 8k and I have almost $30k left on the vehicle.
