I was a new client to this salon and was hoping to be a long standing customer. Let me first talk about the salon. I walked in and made an appt. I didn't receive any confirmation call near my appt date, so I called to confirm. I showed up to my appt, lobby area had clumps of cut hair all over the floor. Most of the salon was dirty. Bathroom fan was rattling so loud, I couldn't move fast enough to leave the room. There was no offering of water to guests. The salon did not inform me of a credit card fee or not being able to add a tip to the receipt. Receptionist said "Get it to her next time." Well, I knew there wouldn't be a next time. My experience with the hairdresser Nancy was less than enjoyable. Highly negative, unfriendly and combative. I never met a real life "Negative Nancy" until now. She was negative from the word Go. She never stopped talking negative about my hair. I literally have awesome hair if I say so myself! Haha I have a bright red-violet stacked A-line bob hairstyle and its super healthy. She wanted to debate every aspect of my hair as if she knew my hair more than I did. I know my hair more than anyone and its a very important part of me. Over decades I have learned about what my hair can do, what it needs and how best to cut it for a bob hairstyle. My appt was for a women's haircut. I asked her if she would rinse my hair in cold water. She chose warm water for each rinse, then the last rinse said "Ready?" and turned on ONLY cold and blasted my head with cold water. How fun is that?!? During the washing my shirt and neck were getting wet. I said did we forget a cape. She said "No. We only use capes when doing color." More fun. We head to her station, she sat in a chair facing away from her station and cut the back of my hair while I also faced away from her station. I never saw myself in the mirror throughout the entire appt. She complained about all aspects of my hair. There is a hole here and there is too much texture here, blah, blah, blah. Then she would sit back in her chair as if surrendering to cut it, because the canvas (my hair) wasn't exactly how she wanted it. She round brushed my bob and said she only does round bob hairstyles and I will have to remind her next time that I like a straighter styled bob. I thought that won't be necessary because I will not be returning. Her goal was not to help me feel beautiful during the appt or leave feeling that way. I have never had a hairdresser not want to help make my hair look great or make me feel bad about my hair. She didnt look happy, didnt try to get to know me. I think she would of rather not cut my hair. I will never visit this salon again. All around awful experience. This salon is one step above a Great Clips Salon. I can't believe I haven't written a review for J Dell's Hair Studio. The owner, Janan, has been doing my hair for the past.....I think, 15 years. I refuse to let anyone else touch my hair. She is a hair magician and color genius. My hair is a huge part of my identity. I like to be bold, different, and edgy. Janan is on the top of her game, and to be honest, her entire team is fantastic. The hair studio also takes appointments for weddings and special occasions, including make-up. I get so many compliments on my hair, I feel like a walking billboard for the studio. The appointments fill up fast for the studio, and book up 6 months in advance. One of my friend's hair was this beautiful shade of blonde and I was in awe! I had to ask her who colored her hair and she told me Marvin at J Dell so I cautiously made an appointment. Go see Marvin if you're a blonde! He had to fix my hair color because TWO other salons made it too brassy/orangey color. It was so bad and he fixed it and it looks sooo much better! He not only highlights my hair but he colors/touches up the root first and then highlights. He truly is a color expert and it's very hard to get a good blonde shade if your roots are getting darker. I've gone to him 3 times so far every 7-8 weeks and have been happy with my color each time. The price is very reasonable and I'm about to make my 4th appointment! read more

Marvin did a wonderful job on my hair!! But let me tell you that the service that I received was freaking horrible...I would give zero stars. The door says Mondays are open are 9am...NO they are not. The receptionist arrived after 9:30am. I had to wait almost 30 minutes because someone messed up my appointment. Get a new receptionist: she was RUDEEEEEEE and didn't even say sorry. And I wasn't even offered a discount or anything. Sorry you just lost a customer. Never coming back ever. read more

This salon was recommended to me for a bridal make up trial. I scheduled my appointment at least three months in advance for airbrush makeup for my wedding day. I even called a couple of times before the scheduled appointment to confirm that the service was for in fact, "airbrush ". I was reassured "yes". The day of the appointment I arrived at least 15 minutes early. I was taken on time for the make up application. I partially blame myself for not walking out the door immediately at that moment when I told the make up artist this is for airbrush and she replied that she didn't have her airbrush kit with her. While I give circumstances the benefit of the doubt, I did so in this case and agreed to sit for a regular make up application. I told the artist that I brought my DIOR makeup. She told me that that's great, but she wouldn't be using them. The make up that was applied was extremely pale and cakey that it showed every line. It just did not look good. I use DIOR make up products daily in addition to other high end products. The DIOR cc primer smooths out the skin surface filling in any lines, etc. I can't recall the make up products that the make up artist used but I believe they were quality products. Needless to say, I was extremely distraught and upset as this was for bridal make up. About a week later I got up enough courage to call the salon with the intent to explain my dissatisfaction. My phone call never made it past the receptionist even though I was told they would pass my message along to someone named Nancy. I never received a call back. I ended up having my fiancé call on my behalf and whomever he spoke with yelled at him and basically blamed this all on me and that I would never see any refund because "the customer cannot win". This is beyond poor customer service. It's appalling. I feel like I just needed to write this review to get this experience out there. Beware. Oh and I almost forgot that when I was going to pay for this awful service I was suddenly expected to pay cash. Had I known this I obviously would've brought cash but nothing was ever said to me about bringing cash as a form of payment. As a sidenote, I ended up doing my own make up for my wedding day and it looked tan, flawless and smooth. read more

Two extremely talented women that you must make a point to book: Janan has been doing my hair for the past 10 years. She is the first person that has ever colored my hair. She is an expert at color, cut and style. She's traveled all over the world and won multiple awards for her work. She is simply amazing and extremely humble. I downloaded the Yelp app just to write a review for Jdell. They do decent hair and makeup however they think they are God. They have the worst customer service ever. They cancel whole bridal parties just one month before the wedding, without any explanation (even after they've taken a security deposit.) You try and call to make appointments however they do not return your calls. If you're lucky enough to get through, they only open their books couple of months ahead. When you call to book a date it was somehow already booked months prior to their books being opened. Jdell employees are very rude, unorganized, and dysfunctional. read more

Where do I begin? The receptionist is accommodating and friendly. Janan has never disappointed from cut, color, or style. I am very picky when it comes to my hair, and I trust her to utilize her expertise to style my hair based on my features. Sror should be doing makeup for the stars however, she has explained that makeup is her passion and her clients are near and dear to her heart. Great stylists but awful receptionist. I arrived about 20 min early not expecting to start my hair cut until my scheduled time which I was fine with. Just looking at hairstyles and whatnot. 1 pm comes around and my stylist calls someone else at 1. I went to the receptionist and I asked if it was just a blow dry or cut and style, she said just a blow dry. Fine... how long do they take? Usually around 30 min she says. So I asked, what time was my appt, 1 or 1:30? She says "1 but you were about 30 min early." I asked her "so if I'm 30 min early I have to wait an extra 30 min?" She did not care that my appointment would be 30 min late. Just showing that you care in the slightest would have made it tolerable but instead here I wait peeved off. I love the salon but they need help with receptionists. If someone is late then don't take them and make everyone else pay the price. I drive 40 min to get my haircut here, I work full time and go to school full time. I don't have an extra 30-45 min to wait. read more
