J Michael's is our new local "go to." You cannot get any more of a local and laid back feel. We like to stop by for an after work or after dinner drink and sometimes a bite. The bartenders are super friendly and make an effort to remember you and your name which is always appreciated. Food is good - there are typical bar appetizers galore. HellooOOO mac and cheese bites - who doesn't love a triangle of gooey yummy mac and cheese that is battered and fried? We also love the sandwiches and burgers are huge and leave you happy and satisfied. Last night we enjoyed trivia for the first time here. SO much fun. The trivia host knew we were newbies and made us feel welcome, included us in the trivia fun. Overall super fun impromptu Wed night. A very fun place to be. For a dive bar tag that people name it, it is well lit compared to the other bars in the category and classier than most. The bar tenders are very friendly every time I have visited. They are also very patient with you as there are so many drinks on their wall! Many beers on tap, all the fun mixes you can think of, and great personalities that are all ready to have a good time and clean fun makes this place easy to visit. They sport 2 billiard tables they keep clean and maintained. The action is on the faster side so you know they take care of their stuff as well as the quality of their balls. ;) They have free pool on Sundays and Mondays if you want to swing by and just shoot some with the locals. It is a pretty good amount of space for what they have. Great for groups if you get there early enough and easy to mingle if not. It does get nice and crowded on the weekends but, that's a good thing. The price is fair but, it's really about value with me. If the pours are good, technically, I am getting good value for the price! I have paid double at many Bellevue area establishments with less than 1/3 the pour so don't look at the black and white. As someone who enjoys going out for food and drinks with friends, but is not a fan of overpriced drinks or club scenes, this bar is great. The staff is always friendly and welcoming. There are more TVs than you can imagine, which makes game day events much more enjoyable. Drinks are more than reasonably priced, and that is not even during their happy hour. The food is great and well priced for a bar. Nothing pretentious or claiming to be what it isn't (and they even have chicken giblets). I've been lucky enough to be able to make this place my home away from away over the 5 years or so I have been coming here. If you live in the Redmond area and haven't experienced a fun night at JM's yet, you owe it to yourself. And if you're an out-of-towner looking for a drink and some sports on TV, they'll make you feel at home (even if you have a Steeler's jersey on). read more

Best Redmond dive bar ever! And pretty big for a "dive". Beer: 12+ Taps with some crap beer staples and some great beer regulars and rotators. J's claim to fame = ALL 4 Mac n Jack's beers on tap! That's right, the generic African Amber PLUS the Wheat the IPA and the Porter! But who needs beer with such a full bar and such great and fun bartenders back there! Food: SOOOOOOOO Cheap! 30 of the most deliciously fried chicken wings for 13 bucks!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? Yesplease....every trip! Burgers are great, and under 7 bucks. A host of other bar food items, always makes it a very cheap place to grab a bite while drinkin! Environment: Darts. Pool. TVs. Pull Tabs. Tables. High Tops. Jukebox. AWESOME! My boss took me here for lunch to grab a burger one day. "Oh they have the best burgers" he told me. Well they also had a club sandwich so of course I had to try that instead. It was actually pretty good, and even the fries were decent. Definitely better than the atmosphere! My boss's hamburger didn't look that great either, glad I went with the sammich. As to the atmosphere, yeah it's basically the Eastside's version of a dive bar. Couple pool tables in the middle, some vids, the usual deal. It's a good place to watch sports -- there are 10 TVs. And the place is small, so no matter where you're sitting, you can see at least three 50" LCDs. Pool, darts, pull tabs -- all shoved into a tiny sports bar. I would describe the regulars as "Eastside hicks". And as a native Eastsider, I have an affection for them. read more

MUST TRY THE NACHOS! For a guy like me, appetizers really don't cut it much, but when you put a drink in my hand - all of that changes. The appetizers here contest with the best I've ever had, especially for a good-ol' dive bar like J Michaels. The scene is great, I mean it's called a dive bar for a reason right?! haha It's tucked away, not to busy on a Thursday night and I'm guessing during March Madness, this place is going to bumpin'! Service is good, people are awesome. I need to remind myself to never leave my debit card here though. They do not open at the time it says on Yelp, not even close. I am still waiting outside to pay my tab and its 10 o'clock when it says they open at 9. I am running late to work just to pick up my debit card, which I hope nobody took, considering my tab was paid the next day. Hopefully they're going to open soon so I can go to work. read more

Since I wasn't allowed to give no stars which is what this bar deserves one will suffice. I brought my sister to this bar last December to show her a great night of what redmond had to offer. I had been here before and always had a pleasant experience, this particular night we paid with a credit card. After the bar we came home. The next morning my sister had three different transactions from three different gas stations. The bar tender here had stolen her credit card information. I recommend palmers or any other place that won't steal from their customers. read more

Went her last night to grab some grub and catch the Spurs-Grizzlies game with the man. Smoking outside drifted in, but what can you do? Not as divey as people proclaim, but it's Redmond, so some denizens may feel this way. What's great about this place? Bacon cheeseburger was good and fiance's turkey club was HUGE! Prices very reasonable and food was served quickly. Young guy behind the bar didn't look like he wanted to be there, but seemed to lighten-up when he brought us our food. They have a pretty high number of TVs (even for a sports bar), so that made us happy. Crowd is mixed; everyone from "hipsters" (although having lived in PDX, I'd call 'em hipster-lite); young 20-something guys; and couples. read more

I waved a waitress over to get a drink. She took objection because she "isn't a servant". Guess what honey: you are in service and if you don't like it do something else. I canceled my order and I'll never go back. I pay 4 times the bottle price to get service and I work a lot of hours to pay my bar bill. I used to love this place, but recently it expanded and is different now. Just went there and was charged $160 for 6 drinks. Apparently the bartender allowed multiple people to put their drinks on my tab without asking me. DON'T TRUST THE BARTENDER!!! Friendly staff, decent beer selection--in fact, the only place around I've found ALL of the Mac & Jacks beers on tap. The food is really good. On Monday's the special is grilled cheese and tomato bisque. I challenge you to find a better grilled cheese anywhere. read more

The ultimate dive bar. This place is awesome. Best wings on the eastside... And I mean better than wingdome. Stiff drinks and a great group of regulars. Pool tables always up for the challenge. My kinda bar located in Redmond!!! I was worried upon moving here that I would be stuck at a mega chain restaurant bar as my go-to for going out. J Michaels is within walking distance (as any bar should be....) Stopped in last night for a shot and a pitcher with friends and I liked the decor, the cozy vibe, pool tables, and best of all..big buck hunter!! I'll be back to order food off of their county-fair style menu board and play some pulltabs. The bartenders were also of the friendly, non-snooty variety! J. Michael's Pub & Eatery, What can I say!! I have been going here for 25+ years, have spent many a pay check and had a FEW drinks over the years. Yes, some may consider this a dive bar, but they need to look at it more like a friends place that you go to relax, talk, and generally have a good time. Show me any place in the greater Seattle/Redmond area that has a better Owner, staff, and regular crowd as J'Mike's. No, it's not always the best of times to be had, but if you're going to have a bad day and need someone/something to change that, then come in, sit down, let the Staff pour you an adult beverage and let your troubles out and float away. read more

It was a fun atmosphere until we were told we were cut off. Reason? None. An explanation would have been great, but instead, it was,"yeaaaah, sorry, cut off, how r u gonna pay?" Not cool. We hadn't been rowdy or anything. It was karaoke night and we wanted to sing. 4 hours, 2 appetizers and 4 drinks spread out over the time wasn't enough to allow us to become part of the action. really apprehensive about this place from what i've heard but I actually enjoyed it. the nachos were fantastic .. they didn't skip on the toppings, every single one of my chips had cheese + beef on it .. like every chip .. was a MASTER CHIP! haha beer was good, again nothing to write home about .. bar tender was real cool and they had a ton of tv's .. relaxed vibe from the people.. nothing sketchy goin on .. all in all it was a good place, i'd go back and have a pint whenever i'm in the area .. read more

Trivia Wednesdays. Great drinks. Yummy bar food. Amazing staff. What more could you ask for out of a local bar? It's not the most diverse crowd, but what do you expect from a local bar in Redmond. The atmosphere reminds me of a typical, homey dive bar that you would see in a movie. In the best possible sense! The food is preeeetty pricey for the most part but the bathrooms are super clean and a refreshing change compared to most bars. Pro tip: Get a basket of tots. Huge portion! And ask for a side of tartar sauce. It's pretty delish. read more

Where did the old J Michael's Pub go? I used to like coming to this place, it had good beer, decent food and fair prices. Recently however, the atmosphere changed, the food quality deteriorated and the prices increased. I held off on this review for several visits to see if I went on an off night. Sadly, the decline appears to be the new status quo. The food does not even rise to bar food levels. The fish and chips selling for upwards of $9 was three pieces of Van Kamp frozen fish and fries. Their Mushroom Burger, $11 plus was unremarkable and definitely not worth the money. The Steak plate at $12 plus consisted of a thin, over-cooked steak and a side of fries. What really struck me as exorbitant is charging $10 for a pitcher of Coors Light. I hope the old J. Michael's makes a comeback, Redmond needs a low key place like this used to be. read more
