Got a couple skewers, miso soup, shishito peppers, minced rice, and a wagyu donburi bowl. The wagyu donburi was so creamy! I really loved the lamb skewers and the beef tongue skewers! Everything here was fantastic! I loved the miso soup because you can get unlimited refills. Service was lovely, the interior made it seem like you are eating in a restaurant in japan. Love to come back next time I visit Washington!

Beautiful dining room, exceptional servers and service, delicious food. Reservations are recommended. I came with a group of 4. We made individual selections and shared much our plates. You can get Sapporo draft pitchers!! Yum. Super crisp and fresh. We enjoyed so many delicious items including chicken skewers, katsu curry, spicy rice, ramen, onigiri, mochi, and chicken hearts. Highly recommend!!

It is my second time going to this place and I prefer the traditional izakaya food over the yakitori. Everything that we had was flavorful. I love the curry katsu omurice which is a great combo of crispy fried pork chop and rice with generous portion of curry sauce. We went for an early dinner so service was super fast and the staff are very friendly. Overall I would like the temperature to be warmer and the chairs bit more comfortable. It is a good spot to have a nice Japanese dinner with friends and family without breaking the bank.

This place was jammed pack full of Asians. So I'd say its a good sign. I came here before I headed off to the airport to catch a red eye outta Seattle. The menu is the the QR code is on the table, Our server was probably the only white dude in the building. Kidding. There was another egg in here with his ABG. So how would I describe this place? It's like the Honda Civic of Japanese restauant. It's reliable. It gets you from point A to point B but you probably won't pick up too many hot chicks in that car unless you're Justin Bieber circa 2010 a week after he released Baby... The place fills you up. It's not super expensive and nothing too exotic. They got pictures on the menu so if you're wondering what Mitarashi Dango...Don't feel bad. I thought it was the name of an anime character. Shows you what I know...

Food is amazing. Coming back 2nd time with my daughter She became a big fan. Love all the food.

I had such a great experience at Shinya Shokudo in Redmond. We ordered the wagyu tataki donburi, salmon donburi, shiitake skewers, and a yuzu cocktail, and it ended up being more than enough food for two people to share. The shiitake skewers were honestly one of my favorite things we ordered. They were so tender and perfectly seasoned. The wagyu tataki donburi was incredible too, the wagyu was buttery and melted right in our mouths. The salmon donburi was also super fresh and delicious. What really stood out though was the staff. They were so sweet and welcoming from the moment we walked in. We had a reservation for 8:15 but showed up earlier than expected, and they seated us right away without any issue. Throughout the entire time we were there they were attentive and kind, even though the restaurant was very busy. They also asked if it was our first time and took the time to explain how their ordering system works, which we appreciated. The restaurant itself was clean and had a great atmosphere. Overall the food was amazing and the service made the experience even better. We'll definitely be coming back.

    Tobiko Creamy Udon

Shinya shokudo is one of my good reliable restaurants. I used to frequent their location in belltown before they were replaced. Came into this Redmond one for a weekend dinner. There's a parking lot around the plaza, which is convenient. Without a reservation at 5pm, the server sat us immediately with an hour time limit as they had lots of reservations that night. The interior is cute, trendy, dark. I ordered the creamy tobiko udon and the negima skewers. The udon was nice and chewy and the sauce was super creamy. It was super milky though, and didn't have any umami flavor. I ended up adding some tare sauce and chili flakes and those upgraded the dish 100x. Negima skewers were really yummy. Combination of chicken and sweet grilled green onion was so good. Overall, I enjoyed my experience here. Their food is pretty consistent even across locations. Although the sauce for the udon was missing some extra flavor, I was able to dress it up with the condiments on the table. Will be back to have their other dishes!

I went with a couple of friends after work and was surprised by how empty it was for a Friday evening. We had reservations, but honestly could have been seated right away even without them. Ordering is done through an app, which is convenient, but a bit confusing if you're dining with multiple people. Everyone's items get added to the same bill, and while you're asked to enter a name, it doesn't actually split the check -- you have to request an itemized bill instead. We didn't try the skewers, so maybe we ordered the wrong things. I had the spicy ramen and the takoyaki. The ramen had decent flavor, but the noodles were soggy and overall underwhelming. The takoyaki also tasted like it had been deep-fried from frozen -- nothing particularly memorable. Given how strong the reviews are, I was surprised. I'd be open to giving it another try and ordering the skewers, but the main dishes didn't leave much of an impression.

SEAFOOD COMBO - $35 - eel, hotate (scallop), ebi (shrimp), salmon
    Courtney L.

I really wanted to love this place, especially as it's considered Seattle's first Japanese Yakitori restaurant. While I'm glad we tried it out, I wouldn't say it's worth the value. Five of us came on a Saturday at 2:00P and had no problem getting a table right away. An employee pointed out the QR code on the table for ordering with our phones, but also provided a tablet for us to view the menu in larger print and place our order. Seeking variety, we selected three combo plates to share with a few small side items. Each combo had four different types of skewers that came in pairs. * Seafood Combo - $35 - eel, hotate (scallop), ebi (shrimp), salmon * Kushiyaki Combo - $35 - garlic beef, negi gyu karubi (beef short rib), kamo no mune niku (duck breast), gyusuji (beef tendon) * Yakitori (chicken) Combo - $28 - kara miso mune (miso breast), negi mune niku (breast & green onion), momo (thigh), negima (thigh & green onion) * 1 order of garlic stems - $5.50 * 2 orders shiitake - $11 * 2 orders zucchini - $11 * 2 bowls of white rice - $5 The Kushiyaki and Yakitori combos had approximately five bites of meat per skewer, while the skewers on the Seafood combo had between two & four pieces each. We ordered the shiitake, zucchini and rice for some balance. My favorite items were salmon (very moist and flaky), garlic beef and chicken thigh (momo). I was most excited for the beef skewers, but was somewhat let down since they weren't as tender as I had hoped. The pieces I had were on the chewy side and/or contained gristle. The chicken skewers were alright overall, except for one pair that came topped with a green onion sauce; it was too acidic for my taste. I was surprised how much I enjoyed eating the garlic stems with bites of meat. They look like green onion stalks, but have a mild garlic flavor, slight sweetness and add a little crisp texture. Once an employee brought our food, we weren't checked on again. Being towards the back of the restaurant, I don't even recall seeing employees pass by very often. We didn't need anything specific, but it almost felt as if we were forgotten until we waved at one of the employees to indicate we were ready to pay. Before tax and tip, our total came to about $135. Normally, this would be a very reasonable price for five people, but the quality of the meats were only okay, and I wouldn't say we left completely full either. Overall, it just wasn't a very memorable meal.

    Mentaiko creamy udon ($15)
    Vy M.

Came on a Sunday afternoon for lunch and it was quiet but service was quick and everything tasted delicious. My aunt, who is a chef and critical of a lot of restaurants, even complicated some of the dishes. Tried the katsu curry for the first time and that was good. The tobiko creamy udon unfortunately did not taste as good as the mentaiko udon that they used to have. All the portions are a lot smaller, but most of the other dishes were still good.

We ordered a seafood BBQ platter and really appreciated how they kept it simple with just salt seasoning. You can taste the natural sweetness and freshness of the seafood without it being overpowered by heavy sauces. That said, I personally enjoyed it even more with tartar sauce on the side--it added a creamy, slightly tangy contrast that made each bite richer and more satisfying. The foie gras hand roll was a highlight. The foie gras was buttery and smooth, with a rich flavor that paired beautifully with the rice and seaweed. It felt indulgent but still well-balanced in portion, not overwhelmingly heavy. We also tried the omurice. It's not just egg laid over rice--the egg was not running, wrapping the rice nicely. The rice itself was flavorful, though the dish leaned a little on the oily side for my taste. Still, the texture of the egg and the overall presentation made it enjoyable.

The skewers were perfectly cooked and the donbori bowls were fantastic! the staff was attentive and accommodating since I was with our 15 month old.

The food here was really good. Portions are on the smaller side, which is fine with me because I don't have leftovers and I can enjoy everything fresh. The wait times were non-existent and food came out quick. The servers were very helpful. My favorite was the katsu curry - very good flavor on par with what you would expect from the dish.

But we came here specifically for the karaoke, which was a blast! My friend reserved a room for us at Tasty Time as they have private karaoke rooms that are similar to the ones in Asia. I had no idea this place existed into a friend had mentioned they had done karaoke here, which we wanted to try on a Friday night. For two hours, we were able to reserve a room for $75 and they allowed us to extend our time at a prorated rate. In the front of Tasty Time is a restaurant, but at the back is the hallway to the private rooms for karaoke. In the room, there's a large screen, comfy seating and a touchscreen where you search and select the songs. They also have an iPad on the table for where you order drinks and food from. The experience was freaking fun! My friends and I had so much fun singing our hearts out, and apparently, we were the loudest ones in the place! The drinks helped. But it's worth knowing that the service can get slow for ordering drinks and food. We also ordered drinks that never came. When we realized that it was slow to get drinks, we kept putting our future orders in to add in the queue, not knowing when we would eventually get our drinks. Also, the cocktails they have are sweet. They have shots though for something stronger. My friend ordered some meat skewers for the group and they were well-liked or was it because we had too much to drink? TBD. For anyone looking to do karaoke with a bunch of friends or with a group in Bellevue then Tasty Time is a good option for just that. Located in a business strip in Bridle Trails, it's unassuming and you'd never know this place had karaoke, but it was a nice surprise to all of us who came for the first time. Fun, fun times!

The skewers are perfectly seasoned and grilled -- crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and loaded with that signature cumin-chili aroma that you can smell from a mile away. The grilled squid was incredibly tender and flavorful, and the beef skewers were smoky, juicy, and well-marinated all the way through. You can really tell they know how to control the fire. One of my favorites was the grilled tofu rolls -- soft inside, slightly crispy outside, and soaked with spice. Super addictive. The shrimp were also fresh and well grilled, not dry at all. Portions are generous, prices are reasonable, and everything came out hot and fast. The vibe is lively and perfect for hanging out with friends, especially late at night. If you're craving authentic Chinese-style street BBQ, this place is a must-try. I will definitely be coming back again -- probably very soon. Highly recommended.
