Huge shoutout to the whole team at Diversified. I reached out to them as I was new in town and saw their 'Volvo' sign out front. Needed to get my daughters XC40 serviced before she heads back to school but had a very tight window of times to get the vehicle in. James said he had an opening that same afternoon if I could get it there and drop it off. Brought it in and they got to work. Picked it up aging a few hours later better than when I dropped it off. I am thoroughly disappointed with the service here. Don't go if you're a college student, he'll scam you like he scammed me. I had been before and besides the lack of small talk, it's been just ok. I had gotten two oil changed without a hitch. However the last time I went he ended up charging 45$ for an oil change. I thought in my head that was a little expensive but just went with it. I looked at the receipt later and turns out he charged me 15$ for rotating my tires! A service that should be free! Since I was in a rush, I didn't pay attention and just paid but I should've checked the receipt. I'm never going back now. read more

Best automotive repair in Athens hands down. Though certified Volvo mechanics, they can work on anything foreign and domestic. I'm always amazed at how reasonably priced the service. With a good reputation, sometimes they can be busy. I would suggest leaving the car over night and dropping the keys in the slot by the side door - they should have it back by the next day. I've always the owner James hilarious. A real character with a great sense of humor. Highly recommended! read more

Diversified Auto is by far the best shop I've ever used. They do great work and their prices are reasonable, but beyond that I know that I can trust James. I drive a 300k+ vehicle, so I've needed to take it in pretty frequently and I'm probably a little more aware of noises, etc. at this point. A couple of times James has either told me nothing was wrong (and he was right), or that the repair could wait. He never charged me anything to look at it or tried to up-sell me. He has done temporary fixes when I wasn't prepared to spend the money on a permanent solution. He's even given me free advice over the phone when I had moved out of state and needed to use a different mechanic. If I had a choice I'd never use anyone other than Diversified. I have been taking my cars here for 25 years! My first Honda had some issues and I was told at the dealer I needed a new transmission. When I took it to get a second opinion to Diversified, James had it fixed when I came to pick it up. All it needed was a $12 belt. That was 25 years ago and I have gotten amazing service ever since!!! They do great work and I always know I can trust what they tell me. Can't beat that! read more

I had a bad experience with Diversified unfortunately. We dropped my Volvo off because they stated that they had Volvo certified techs. We asked them to diagnose it and call us to proceed. They called and stated it was the transmission and to take it to another shop. Luckily, my husband used to work for Volvo and we knew the issue wasn't the transmission. We took my car to Hawthorne Automotive and they had it diagnosed within an hour that the front axle was barely hanging on. They fixed it within a day and it's running perfect now. No more front wobble. Moral of the story: Don't go to Diversified. read more

I will never come here again, no matter how convenient it may be. The owner is one of the most consistently rude people I have ever had to deal with here in Athens. I don't even care if the work they do is good. You do not deserve to be spoken to like some inconvenient, incompetent sub-humanoid. Go anywhere but here if you expect but a modicum of respect each time you walk out of your front door. Today, I went in because I hit a curb and immediately knew it was serious. My wheel was askew & there was a terrible wailing sound. Sounded like I was doing donuts as I pulled into a parking space & called AAA to tow me. The first (& only) business they mentioned was Diversified, & I hesitated because the owner had been quite unpleasant to me the last time I came in. But, I had the flu, & they told me that, as a AAA member, they would prioritise my vehicle & have it at least looked at within one hour. I wanted to get it dealt with as soon as possible, so I reluctantly agreed. I got to the shop & was instantly reminded of how awkward & cold it feels in there. No smiles, no greeting. James stared me up & down before asking me what I needed. I explained that I hit the curb on the way home from the doctor's office, that I had the flu, & that I hoped to find out what was wrong as soon as I could so I could get back to bed. I laughed, "this is just not my day," to try & lighten the incredibly dismal mood. It didn't work. Note: I did not bark or demand or strop about: I merely explained what happened & described what I needed. He immediately told me that he wouldn't be able to see my car today. I began to explain what roadside assistance had assured me over the phone, but he waved his hand & walked away from me, mid-sentence. In my book, that's pretty damn rude. I was too tired to even care about it, so I sat down. He came back several minutes later to ask me if I had a ride. I told him that I didn't. He stared off into middle space & blinked a few times, as though I was *the* most insufferable person he had ever encountered, & asked "Well, are you gonna *get* a ride?" I asked about the AAA member priority I had heard about on the phone. (Please bear in mind that I had a fever of 101. I may not have been the most articulate, but I did know what I had been told on the phone.) He did not answer. He just walked away again. My phone was at 1% but I was able to post on Facebook that I needed a ride. I moved to a different seat, farther back in the lobby where it was a bit darker, & tried to rest. He came back out a few moments later & asked, "Ma'am, is there an actual problem with your car, or did you just hit the curb?" I stared in disbelief & asked him to repeat himself. Which he did. "Is there an *actual* problem with your car, or did you just hit the curb?" I responded, slowly, "yes, I hit the curb & yes, it caused an actual problem with my car." But, you guessed it, he had already started walking away. & this time, it pissed me off. So I stood up & walked toward the desk, asking, "Is there a specific reason why you are being so unpleasant, today? I am clearly in a very vulnerable position, you know I am unwell, & yet you're treating me like I'm some problem." But he'd gone through some door. I went back to my seat &unabashedly shed some feverish, frustrated tears. (Pro tip: don't make people cry at your f*cking place of business!) Fortunately, a friend soon came to pick me up. Diversified called me an hour or two later, explained what they had discovered, & told me the repairs would be close to $1000. I told them I couldn't afford that & needed a second opinion, & that I would be coming back with a tow truck. Then I asked him if he would be willing to reconsider the "actual"ness of my problem, or if he would continue to be rude to people who showed up with visibly f*cked up wheels in the future (though I did not use profanity). He scoffed & said, "Pardon me?" And I hung up. Because I'm personally not a huge fan of being scoffed at. The *last* time I went in for a minor repair, I came away with no AC/Heat, despite having very recently had my compressor replaced & my freon charged (by a different mechanic). It wasn't like the AC wasn't cold or the heat was just room temperature -- it just didn't even turn on anymore. I called them about it, & James said they would fix it for $95. I said that I wasn't going to pay for something that wasn't a problem whenI went in, & he then said it was because my freon was completely out. I knew this wasn't true. About a week later, I literally drove down a bumpy street & it all clicked back on. No problems since. Do they know what they're doing? I kind of doubt it. But will they treat you like garbage while they do it? Absolutely! read more
