I used this mom & pop garage for probably 14 years, and always had a good experience. Then the owner retired earlier this year. I took my car to them, and was told they could fix the problem, but then they actually screwed up the car more, and tried to blame it on previous work (that had not been done). I ended up losing my car. If I had taken it to the dealership, it probably could've be repaired!! I have had this place recommend to me many times by many people, I have taken all 3 of my vehicles there for many different reasons. These guys are a good ol' boys type of shop- I have some major repair work done to my Toyota truck- he quoted me 550 because of the specialty work, he ended up charging only 425.. Many other shops would have stuck to their quotes and changed the extra $125. These folks really care for their customers well. Plus it's fun shooting the breeze with the guys while you talk about cars. Love this place- it is definitely not the most appealing place- it looks more like an old run down (closed) gas station, which is basically what it is... I left my car with this repair shop to have a cut tire replaced. The mechanic was very kind, clear, and reasonable in assessing, explaining, and fixing my problem over the phone. The issue came when I picked up my car the next day and the door handle was broken. I called the shop and asked about the broken handle and the man on the phone, someone different I presume, was immediately antagonistic. Not only was he rude but he openly patronized me over the phone and hung up on me. Aside from how civil my review may read, let me be clear, this guy on the phone the second time around was an asshole, a complete bumbling, almost unintelligible, totally juvenile, insulting, asshole. I will find someone with a degree more intelligence and composure to repair my vehicle in the future. read more

Today I had a vehicular emergency, and being a college student 2 hours from home, was stressed and upset. I pulled into this shop by chance and soon realized how lucky I was. These gentlemen (there were three of them) immediately helped me, with care and compassion. It is fine if you only do oil change. But for more complicated things, they do not have the skill to handle many issues. Several of my coworkers and I had bad experience when we took our car to this shop to fix different issues. In my case, my tire pressure light was on right after they did the tire rotation. When I went back to the shop, the guy did not even give a try to see where the problem was and just told me that the pressure light had nothing to do with the tire rotation work that they did, which I consider it is very unprofessional. read more

Don't bother going here. They were once a decent place, but now they've gone way downhill. To begin with, when I first took my car to the mechanic, they kept cutting me off short. I repeated the problems I was having with my car like 10 times, and they still insisted that I was talking about the clutch grinding and not grinding occurring due to the brakes. As if just because I'm a girl, I don't know how to drive a manual and wouldn't know what the clutch grinding would sound like after driving a manual for 6 years. I also stated from the start that the grinding occurred when the car first moved - not when I cranked my car, which after taking my car back 4 times, they still did not understand. To begin with - when I took my car the first time, they found the major issue, and completely ignored everything else. I figured I'd go ahead and get an oil change (I provided my own oil) and the serpentine belt I bought already put in. With changing the brake calipers, the oil change, tire rotation, and putting the serpentine belt, they charged a full $650. Looking at the individual bills - they charged the high end (maybe just below a dealership) for everything. I should've gone elsewhere or worked with my dad and did the smaller things ourselves and I would've saved $100. Got my car back, they claimed they test drove it, went on a highway and ended up having to pull over on the side of the road because my car started shaking like crazy. I went back asking them to look at it because maybe they knocked the tires out of balance during rotation or something because my car was shaking like crazy which I didn't have an issue with to begin with, and the mechanic gave me attitude telling me he could rotate it back to how it was or charge me for tire balancing (when my tires were obviously balanced before they touched it). Went to Toyota, explained the problem since they had balanced my tires to begin with, and they did it completely free and complimentary, no issue, However, my car was still shaking. Took my car BACK to them for the 3rd time and they found that they had installed a defective brake caliper on my car. Fixed it, got my car back, thought maybe for once I'd have a break from car issues, but sure enough, the first issue I had with my car to begin with still existed. After I had asked them if changing the calipers would explain that specific issue I was having as well. Took my car back to them for the 4TH TIME. Did the usual thing of cutting me short and rushing me out the door, refused to listen to my video of the car making the grinding noise, and within 5 minutes of being back home I get a call that they were unable to replicate the grinding noise my car was making and wanted me to come back and drive it for them or show them the video (WOW). I go back, I get in my car, and as soon as I moved the car it made the grinding noise. I replicated the noise 3x and pointed it out each time before the mechanic MAYBE heard it. I get out, he drives the car in different directions around the shop, then gets back inside and tells me to take my car to the dealership and pay $150 for them to hear the noise. I described detail by detail of the issue, he didn't listen. Told him it was brake related - he told me he couldn't find anything online about grinding noise from the engine (???). Told him how it started, when it happens, how I fell the brake pedal vibrate when the grinding happens, replicated the noise 5x over for him AND had a video. He asks me if I know which side it's coming from (I'm not the mechanic). He then tells me I'll have to start paying him for his time for diagnosing the car noise and that I would have to bring the car back and replicate the noise while he was outside because he wasn't going to stand outside. I told him I could just leave the car and anyone else could drive the car and replicate the noise because it happens EVERY time the car first moves, I wasn't doing anything special to make the noise happens. He just insists I pay him like $100/hour for him to DIAGNOSE the noise. I told him if he wanted to sit there and be a dick then he can do that, and I left. He replies he doesn't appreciate my mouth, but I don't appreciate them. When I returned to pick up my car, I found a note in my car telling me to take it to the dealership. He then comes out and starts yelling at me that he's apparently trying to help me by wanting me to pay $100+ for a diagnosis when anyone who isn't deaf could hear the noise. He then continues spewing on and then tells me it isn't his fault that I'm too dumb, to which I replied that it's ironic coming from a mechanic who can't hear a problem. Totally unprofessional, scam of the $650, rude, incompetent mechanics. You have a basic problem you need fixed? Go to them, but definitely not for anything slightly more complicated. I can guarantee you'd find somewhere else cheaper and better. read more

This auto repair shop was recommended to me by a friend. We both had bad experiences at the same auto repair shop in East Athens (a different one). My husband had a problem with his car that was urgent. It was not accelerating properly. We called a couple other places, his GM dealer (they could not take it for 4 days), a place that I was referred to in Five Points (they could not take his car for a week). Granted, some places allow you to drop off the car without an appointment, but we were hoping he could go somewhere to get his car back the same day. The Barnett Shoals Chevron was able to take him that afternoon, diagnosed the problem (he needed new struts) and he had the car back before dinner. We were very happy with the service. read more
