Bought a watch here which I now realize I seriously over paid for. They were nice when I bought it. Wore it a few times and it broke, the crown snapped. They said they'd fix it for free and so I took it back, they ended up putting on a crown that did not match the original and it is quite obvious and off putting. They also acted strange when I picked it up and my buddy thought they were being shady. I went and had the movement checked as it was a vintage Swiss watch and I wanted to ensure they didn't change it when I got it repaired. It was all still there but the guy that checked said the watch hadn't been sealed properly when they put the case back on. Overall I wouldn't really recommend this place. If you want a watch in the price range these guys sell just get a Seiko online. My experience here was kind of a nightmare and I kind of wish I never bought this watch, the whole ordeal was very off putting. I bought it not knowing watches, now I know better. read more

I had my watch battery replaced. It was a lot pricier than the places I have been to before. I went there because the place I used to go to don't replace battery anymore. To replace the battery was 50 some dollars. It was pricy, but I thought "maybe" the place do a better job? One year later, my watch is out of battery! I have changed battery before on my watch and it last more than 2 years. This time, price is high and battery stop in a year. I found another mom and pop shop and changed for $18 only. These rings were originally from Zales from 42 years ago. They were my grandmother's and were missing the big diamond on the engagement band, a size too big for me, and slightly silvered rather than it's original, pretty, white gold complexion. We were pointed in the direction of J.R. Brothers in the middle of the mall, and were given a wonderful price of $250 for a new diamond, resizing, and cleaning. What's more is that this was take care of in less than two hours and turned out perfect. The men were incredibly kind and gave us the best advice and were very wonderful. But in this case because we are dealing with an expensive repair and expensive parts, I'm going to post today: Brought my husband's watch in for a repair in the time keeping mode. After paying $400 for the repair, when The young man hands me the watch, the band/bracelet is completely broken. When I ask about it nobody knows what happened. Employees and management have now changed and no one takes responsibility. So now the owner wants us to pay for the replacement bracelet. Are you serious???? Horrible way to do business! Do not bring your valuables here!!!! Will never return again and will be filing a small claims suit. read more

Needed to take a few Links out of a watch I just bought. The store recommended Jared, I called and it was $37.95 per side!! So, if I needed a link out of both sides it was double that amount!! CRAZY!! My wife recommended a place at First Colony Mall, where she got a watch battery this past year. She said it was a kiosk in the middle.. I was hesitant, but went out there, and they charged a flat rate of $15 to take a link out of each side, and took less than 5 minutes!! I rarely will leave a bad review of a business, except when they do things which are egregious and unacceptable in any way. It's time for another negative review. I saw a really bad review for this business on Google Reviews, but balancing that against the good reviews on Yelp, I decided to give this business a try. I needed a battery replaced in one of my watches (I have a sizable collection, and I've learned a lot about watch repair and jewelry shops in the area), and today being Sunday this was the only place open. So I went over to First Colony Mall and wanted to give them a try, What I didn't expect was a sizable portion of condescending attitude from one of the workers in the kiosk, which prompted me to pull my watch before they every got started on it. I walked up and asked for a battery change. Now, if I wanted to wait until the work week, I can get a new battery at other stores in the area for $10-15, stores with whom I've worked before and can trust. The taller person at the kiosk mentioned to me that they charge $20 + tax. I figured that I had already taken the time to drive to the mall, and I was told it would only take 10-15 minutes, I said OK. But I did mention to this guy that I thought the price was a little high. The other person in the kiosk, who I will say looked a like a millennial with a long, horrible beard, started mouthing off about where did I think I was? That First Colony Mall is the most expensive place in Sugar Land, and obviously I had never been to the mall because otherwise I would know better. He also asked me if I had gone to Zale's, because their prices were even higher. Even with his attitude, I was still willing to leave the watch there. But as I walked off, I told him that I have probably lived in this area longer than he had, and I didn't care what he had to say. He sneered at the other guy in the booth as I walked away. I realized just how disrespectful this was, and that also made me concerned about the quality of the repairs. I immediately turned around and took my watch back before they started any work. In the Google review, that person said that their interaction with this business almost got physical. I can see where that came from now. Getting the battery replaced was not worth me being disrespected, And, if the people working on your watch are willing to disrespect you, then how can you be assured of quality service? Maybe if the jerk with the beard was gone, I'd try this business again. I have been a big proponent of boosting local businesses over the chains, but in this case I'll make an exception. read more

I have been going to JR as long as I can remember, and I've been here 20 years. Whether it's a new pin in the band, a new battery or a replaced crystal. I've even had mechanisms fixed or changed out. I had an old pocket watch that had worn down and they hot dipped it to make it look like new. Every person in the booth has been respectful, pleasant and knowledgeable. Even the "person with the beard" referenced below. I have found pricing to be reasonable. Yes, it is the mall and they do have to cover overhead, but the work is typically done in 10-15 minutes. If not, they call and let me know when to pick it up (for instance if they have to order a part). I have also bought jewelry here and their pricing is not far off of wholesale. I took several watches in today to be services. My Baume & Mercier and wife's Certina and Movado needed batteries. The Certina also needed the bracelet repaired. We thought it may have needed to have the bracelet replaced. The owner was able to repair it by replacing one of the pins. Another watch shop had told me that my Hamilton needed to be rebuilt to have a spring replaced. The owner opened up my watch and found it to be in perfect order. There was no charge for inspecting the watch. I have found them to be honest and easy to work with. I will continue to use them. read more

What I find important is what happens when something goes wrong? I bought an expensive watch from them and there was a problem with the watch after I got home. I brought it back and they bent over backwards to make it right!! The original salesman called me to apologize then the owner called to apologize. They assured me they would fix it. The owner called me again to follow up then the salesman called me with a solution. I now have a watch I'm happier with. We were traveling out of town to Sugar Land area over the new years, and my boyfriend had to have a link or two cut off from the new watch I gave him for Christmas. We took a chance and stopped by JR Brothers at First Colony Mall as we are not familiar with the area. The gentleman at JR Brothers greeted us courteously as we approached the kiosk. He quickly measured the wrist and the watch, then proceeded to cut off 1 link. He then asked my boyfriend to put it on to see if it fitted correctly; it did. Everything (from "hello" to us leaving the booth) only took about 3 minutes! As busy as the mall was that day, it was such a pleasant surprise and good experience!
