Recently I made a 12:00 appointment for a mani-pedi. I arrived a few minutes before noon. A nail tech told me to check in and I took a seat waiting for a technician. A woman walks in and she's seated right away. Around 5 minutes after 12 3 ladies walk in stating they had a 12 appointment and they were met by a technician. Meanwhile I still sitting and no one said a word to me. I reached for my phone and called a taxi to take me somewhere else. As I'm walking out the door I hear "Miss, miss." I politely told the lady you waited on 4 people ahead of me ALL WHITE WOMEN. I am Black. If this is an example of Asian racism they should know that Black Americans are not and never have been second class citizens. Also I first went there Mother's Day weekend and I was supposed to get a 10% discount which didn't happen. I gave them the benefit of doubt, and didn't make a fuss. Here's the bottom line. Non-white immigrants had zero rights until the Civil Rights movement. How short their memory is. I too will be boycotting all Asian businesses. Black people don't need your services, and you would never have a thriving business of your own in China. Their arrogance is stifling globally. How dare Chinese people build a hotel in Jamaica banning Black guests and Black people including Jamaicans from using their own beach! Jamaicans burned it down. Food for thought. read more

My appointment at the salon was this past Sunday for gel French tips with extensions. While the application initially looked beautiful, I was really disappointed to see that by Tuesday morning--less than 48 hours later--my middle finger nail had already chipped. Considering that both French tips and gel extensions are charged as add-ons specifically for their durability, I expected the manicure to last much longer. Furthermore, although I've generally enjoyed most of my previous experiences here, this is now the second time that a gel/no-chip manicure has chipped within just a few days. For the premium pricing, I would hope for better longevity and quality. I'm sharing this in the hope it can be addressed, as I do appreciate the salon otherwise and would love to continue coming back with more reliable results. read more

I was here on a weekend in the city and decided to stop in for a mani/pedi. The pedi that I got was very reasonably priced ($60) which included a paraffin wax treatment. The tech was very attentive to my needs and wants. I decided to try dips, even though in the past I've had issues with chips and such 3 days after (typically I can only do full sets). I'm so glad I decided to do so! They look great nearly a week later and have a lot of dip color choices! They offered bottled water and the manager walked around checking in to see everything was going smoothly. Definitely like the overall atmosphere! I do recommend this place! I am on my feet M-F from 10-7pm. My feet were begging me for attention and hurting, tired and sore. I cook for a living... I was in search of a pedicure on a Sunday in Chicago and knew I could not afford to neglect a nice foot soak, so I went online knowing I should find ATLEAST one salon open. To my surprise I found J's Blossom Nail & Spa. The vibe was wonderful because after trying to reserve space for 6pm and arriving at 631pmish, they were able to help a sister! I was greeted with warm and friendly attitudes and ushered to my chair. Wendy serviced me today and she was very attentive and did a wonderful massage and nail coloring to my mootsie tootsies. I highly recommend this business: the ambiance is beautifully pink decor and there are pillows for your lower back. I am very pleased for my experience at J's Blossom. I have tried so many nail saloon in the past and this is the best customer service I have received so far at J's Blossom. Nail technicians are very friendly and warm. I was very unlucky this week that I had to go back to fix my design nails twice this week but everytime they welcomed me nicely and my nail technician May took care of me very well today. One of the best nail salons I've found in Gold Coast! Formerly known as Fingers and Toes Studio, the space is no frills, but it's always clean. The prices are reasonable for the area; definitely the best manicure-pedicure pricing I've seen in the neighborhood. It's $60 for a regular manicure-pedicure (though it used to be $50). Great selection of nail polishes, which is fun for an indecisive customer like me! I can always find a great, new color. I don't do gel nails often, but I've gotten a few great gel manicures here, too. One was for a wedding back in March 2022 and this past summer I did a fun hot pink chrome gel manicure to celebrate Barbie. The nail techs are usually helpful. For that same Barbie chrome manicure, my original gel color selection looked way too pale, and the nail tech swapped out the color for me. I received a no chip manicure on Saturday. I wanted sheer brown, but was having trouble finding it in the stack of samples. I asked her to help me look but she seemed dismissive and I settled for the color that she uses for French manicure. That was fine. The issue I have is that color from my old gel nail polish was still on my nails when she finished. She refused to put on a top coat because apparently it's already in the polish, I've been getting gel forever and have never heard this. She had a problem with me asking to use a low setting with the drill, even though I've had gel taken off without the drill and just a nail file with no issue. There was polish on the sides of my fingers. And the biggest problem is that this $45 no chip has already chipped less than a week since I received it. My nails also feel jagged like she didn't shape them properly. Truly a waste of my time and money. read more

This place charges $50 for dip powder, which is $5-$10 more than anywhere else. Regardless I was paying for convenience so that was my decision. During the nail appointment, my manicurist would leave and start cleaning the store multiple times. Instead of individually wrapping the nails to remove the previous dip, they have you soak your nails in a bowl. In theory that's okay, but it just creates a kind of nail polish mush that gets all over your hands and unnecessarily coats your hands and fingers in nail polish remover. It's a shortcut that negatively impacts the experience. When I asked for white powder dip they manicurist kept trying to convince me to do something else. Um, why? This is uncomfortable. I wouldn't write a negative review solely based on the above, but the actual manicure I got was bad. They just pushed the dip into the cuticle creating uneven lines and making it more prone to breakage. It started cracking on day one- which is ridiculous for a $50 dip manicure! When they were filing down the powder to smooth it, it felt like the instrument was burning my nailbeds. Don't go here for a powder dip! read more
