This is the second time I have gone for a mani-pedi and been extremely dissatisfied so it's time to update my review. Not sure if new management or what but I will no longer be a returning customer. First disappointing time I had made my appointment a week in advance for both mani pedi and they called me 20 min before the appointment time to say they were running 30 minutes late. I was unable to do the full treatment as a result due to having a hard stop time. That was the point of booking an appointment in advance. I decided it might have been an off day since the quality of the manicure was still good and came back today. The second disappointing visit today was the last straw for me. The pedicure water was ice cold, I asked three different times for it to be warmed up and it was not addressed. The quality of the pedicure is worse than what I can do at home, some nails not entirely covered and others with bubbles. The manicure was similarly the worst I have ever had. When I requested not to use the electronic file because it hurts my hands it seemed as though my technician was not trained to do it without the e file. My nails are uneven and the length is different on each hand and nail. The color is uneven and doesn't reach the tip on several nails. I would have requested someone else to redo it but they were fully booked and running behind again today. The final nail in the coffin was when the technician killed a bug flying near me by swatting it into my leg. Unfortunately this is the end for me and Zazazoo. read more

I had a Russian manicure done here. After they grew out it's apparent that my nails were damaged from the nail drill probably from lack of experience in this particular type of manicure. The picture shows my nail grown out but little bumps and holes at the base of my nail. This is on several different nails. I have been coming here aince it first ooened on Damen ave in Bucktown. It was under different ownership then. This is for the new owners: please do what you can to get more talent in your staff. My last 5 visits have been less than mediocre. A no chip mani should not take 2 hours and the person should not be filing the aurface of my nail so far down that I'm starting to feel skin, it feels thin/weak. Another time I had a no chip mani and regular pedi and the person made some mistakes and I was there almost 3 hours. when I got home my pedi was ruined, I had to fix it myself. And when I called for that appt I asked to be put with a very experienced person. I heard a girl getting her nails done being so upset bc they shaved her cuticles down in a way that was not right or normal. we who get our nails done every month or more, know the service and process your staff usually follows- so its sad to see it decline so badly and tons of over turn. the only good person on chicago ave left is Tamara. I came in with a specific picture of the simple design I wanted and the nail tech was unable to complete the design even with me having to correct her over 10 times throughout the process. 0 stars is I could! I went here for a pedicure last night and thought the service was pretty bare bones. My nails didn't need to be trimmed, but the woman working on me also didn't ask. The soak/massage/etc was pretty rushed. After the polish, I sat with my feet under a dryer for awhile and got plastic to wrap around my toes before putting my shoes on and leaving. My friend and I walked down the street for dinner and then I drove home, took my shoes off and discovered that the polish on my big toes had smeared pretty badly. Unfortunate, but it happens. I stopped in today to explain the situation and see if someone could repolish those two toes. The woman at the front desk unapologetically let me know that someone might be able to fix them in an hour or 2. I clarified that this was to just fix the polish on 2 toes, looking around and noting that a couple people were getting manicures, but no one was waiting or in a pedicure chair. She just sort of shrugged and I left as I didn't have the time to wait for a maybe in 2 hours. In retrospect I should have asked for a little remover and nail color and done them myself, but I wish there would have been more of an effort to stand by their work and fix something that would have only taken a few minutes. I won't be back, and I recommend you spend your money somewhere else. read more

The receptionist was very friendly and helpful with showing where to pick colors, etc. They are definitely very careful with following Covid precautions, seating guests every other chair apart and installing plexiglass shields at the manicure stations. They also have guests sanitize their hands when they first walk in. What I really appreciated about my time here was the attention to detail and great customer service. The lady who did my nails was great about checking in for nail length/shape, if the pedicure water was hot enough, amount of pressure for the massage, etc. It was great to feel so well attended to! I live in the area and stopped in for a manicure after work. The staff is super friendly, and (as other reviewers mentioned) offer you lacroix. If that doesn't appeal to all basic girls, what does? I had an appointment, but I was a little early. This wasn't a problem, and they started my mani right away. The place isn't huge though, so if you just walk in, you might have to wait. They have a good polish selection, and a few other products for sale too. (The place is clean, but it's more "no frills" than other salons.) The nail technicians are friendly and focused, but very happy to let you watch TV instead of forcing awkward small talk. My manicure was relatively quick, and the price was reasonable. read more

The quality of service is unparalleled and the technicians are truly talented. Just an FYI, they don't do acrylic or powder. I never do acrylic, powder, or gel so I could care less. I live in the hood, took my girlfriend here the other day for a Monday afternoon pedicure. I arrived AFTER my friend and was done before her; my pedicure was under fifteen minutes. I just had a baby and was super excited for some pampering and it left me feeling worse than when I walked through the door. The girl could have cared less and did a crappy job all around. My right toenail was chipped the next day and I had done literally nothing. My girlfriend just confirmed today that it was the worst pedicure she has ever had and that her nails are chipped and need to be cut. So here I am writing a review. When I checked out I asked the receptionist how long a pedicure should take and she said 30 minutes. I said mine was under 15 minutes. She said she would charge me $15 for a polish change. Looking back, I should have refused to pay her anything. This place is jaded and does not care about a nice nail experience. Save your money or go some where else! For sure!! Super bummer. Just okay. The salon is new, very modern with clean lines, open space and clean white everyway you look. Lots of opi color choices and anole services. However the service, pedicure specifically, but as just okay. The foot buff is weak, the cuticle trimming is very thorough, and the massage is kinda an afterthought. The Polish was applies well and I was given a free setltcer water, but for $30 I expected a better pedicure not just a nice environment. Also they only take cash only tips. If you have no cash you can venmo your technician. At least you know the worker gets to keep the tip, but it slows down the process. read more

This is a new nail salon in the hood. I walked by it and stopped in to check out pricing and then a week later, I made an apptmt. I emailed them for an apptmt and they got back to me in about 6-8hrs after with a confirmation. This place is SMALL. Like 4-5 nail stations for no chips and like 6 pedicure chairs...so I would say DEFINITELY make an apptmt. They have more people that do pedicures so you might be able to walk in for that...but no chips are more difficult. The salon is CLEAN, nice, bright, white. The staff was all SUPER nice and helpful. They dont have tons and tons of no chip colors but they have enough for sure. They did a great job cleaning up my mitts and toes and it looks fantastic. I will definitely be back! read more

The first chair I sat in had marks all over it - fingerprints and glass stains - and looked generally unclean. There were hairs and other items on every chair they showed me to... As for the nails, my manicure looks great, but my pedicure is lacking in every way. The nail tech was very nice, but barely did anything to my feet and cut my toe skin while she was trimming my nails. On other nails she did not trim them to the same length, so they are uneven. The nail polish on some of my toes looks like it has already grown out, since they were not painted completely...They offered to have someone else redo the paint on my toes, but the problem was deeper than just the polish. I have been to ZaZaZoo nails multiple times for a regular mani pedi. The salon is very chic and clean and they give you a La Croix! There are tons of options for nail color and many brands to choose from. The very first time I went I had one of the best mani/pedis of my life. The lady put a clear layer between each layer of color to make it last longer and boy did that work. It didn't even start to chip for a few weeks! I continue to go to ZaZaZoo nails because of the price and the quality but none of the manicures have ever lived up to the first one which is why I'm giving it 4 and not 5 stars. My manicurist offered a LaCroix which was nice and immediately inquired about the water temperature. She quickly turned up the heat and got started. In my opinion, a good mani/pedi is in the details, and my manicurist was thoughtful enough to put on my sandals prior to starting my pedicure and asked if I wanted to pay before she started my manicure, which I greatly appreciated. I have always loved going to this shop, until last week. My nails are now so thin from an overzealous tech. I had my nails done with my daughters last Wednesday evening. Three days before my daughters wedding, my daughters and I went for mani-pedis. While I usually have a no-chip done on my hands, they couldn't find the bottle of the color I wanted. I was really excited that they now carry Dazzle Dry. I use it on myself at home and can get a full two weeks, sometimes three. Needless to say, the tech ruined my nails. She filed so hard in spots that I could feel the burning. The day after the wedding when I took the polish off I could see red spots under my nails where she filed too hard. Anyway, thankfully I choose a whiter shade, had I gone with a color like she was suggesting, I would have been at their door the next night. Dazzle Dry needs to be done as recommended. A special conditioning agent, two coats of base and then two or three of color and then top coat. The tech, Marcia, only did one base, I tried to tell her to no avail. My nails were already chipping by the next day and by the wedding there were four nails that were terribly chipped and one peeled away. I am not a professional but, this has never happened when I do my own. All in all, a waste of $30. I won't be back, a very poor job and I know it will be some time until my nails are back to being normal. They are now so thin in spots and will have to grow all the way out. Two spa pedicures. One chip and one regular. I was charged $118. They charged extra for a few services we never asked for & were unaware of. So be careful and ask for upfront pricing asap. The mail technician I had honestly did not seem like she wanted to be there I almost felt like she was being held against will. The spa pedicure was mediocre at best. No liner in the whirlpool, used the same dirty towel on my feet over and over. I was nice and introduce myself she gave me a weird fake name for some reason lol. I've been here a handful of times, it's easy to get to from my place and they've always been nice and quick to get an appointment. However, last time I came for a pedicure a lot of dead skin was left around my toes and not cleaned up, I had to use a cuticle nipper at home afterwards. I gave them another try and was unfortunately disappointed again. From start to finish my pedicure was less than 30 minutes! I've never had a pedicure that short unless it was merely a polish change! Maybe if I was in a hurry or asked them to rush that would be fine but every pedicure I've ever gotten (and that's a lot) have been ~45 min or more.
