3 deliveries in a row that were missed and left my family with no propane no heat no hot water in the dead of winter. I'm supposed to be on automatic delivery, but I've even called them in advance the last two times to tell them we needed a delivery. I was assured a delivery was coming.....and still nothing. This company is a joke, I have no idea how they are still in business. No propane, no call back when they say they are going to look into when I can expect delivery. Absolute dumpster fire. Received a call from JS West and they will be replaced the sensor to their tank. She explained that their sensors will not accurately monitor a tank when a generator is installed and suggested buying another tank if a generator is to be installed, eventhough we have a 500 gallon tank serving our house. I appreciated the honesty of the JS West representative and see the decision to cancel the generator was the right one. read more

So let me put this in perspective for anyone wanting to use this company! Including my review, 41.7% of the yelp reviews rated JS West Propane a 1 star. There is a reason for this rating and my experience is very similar to the other reviews combined. Up until we complained about a leak that was supposed to have been fixed, our monthly bill was relatively low. Following our complaint and supposedly after they fixed the leak our bill sky rocketed with no explanation, no response. Something's just not right...... shame on you JS West! There are other propane companies whose ratings are much better... try one of those first! read more

I called around to 5 places up here and these people were the cheapest, and had the best customer service. I called 3 different times to get the pricing down and to see what I had to do to set up an account there. They were professional and answered all my questions without sounding upset at my frequent calls! I went in to do the paperwork and they had it all ready for me. The delivery came the next Monday, ( I set up the account on Thursday afternoon). The driver was prompt and pleasant. I highly recommend this business. read more

These people are not ethical in their billing practices. When we tried to set up monthly billing they said we had used $2600 worth of service in a year. WRONG. The calendar year Jan-Dec (which is an accurate statistical measurement) was nearly half that (and included a lot of usage from the prior). They use past 12 months gallon usage x average billing unit amount say $2.62 gallon. They don't use what you actually paid as a basis for it, which came out to $500 more, then they divide by 11 months to come out with a monthly cost. I made mistake of letting them auto fill, which means they will fill when the price per unit is highest more often than not (according to my experience). Buyer beware. read more

J.S. West Propane Co. came to our rescue the day after Thanksgiving when our tank became completely empty. Our furnace was blowing cold air. And, I mean it was cold! AND we were expecting guests! I know, I know, it was a totally Bozo error! Nevertheless ...I called everybody in the book and J.S.West was the only company that was able/willing to fit us into their schedule! I phoned them at 10:00 am and they were here at 1:00 pm! I'd call that stellar service! Some companies weren't even opened that day. We just moved to Auburn and have never had a propane tank. PG&E always supplied our gas and electricity. The previous homeowner recommended that we continue using JS West for our propane. We set up an account and they have provided excellent service. When we called Amber in the office she has been courteous and accommodating. When Mark filled our tank he was prompt, professional, friendly and very informative! He checked our property for gas leaks and then went out of his way to educate my wife and I regarding our tank, logistics and propane consumption. We truly appreciate Mark's outstanding customer service. When a company hires exemplary staff it's truly a reflection of good management and a well run company. I recently installed J S West Propane at my property in Placerville. The installation crew was outstanding. Nigel arrived on time and was very courteous and professional. He went out of his way to ensure that all systems were working properly, including putting new fittings on some of the outside propane piping. If their route service is as good as the installation crew, this business should be an easy pick for anyone looking for propane service in the Placerville area. We started with this Co when we moved to Placerville 2 years ago. Had no real issues right away. Then they started filling our tank without permission even though it wasn't very low (or showing up without a call) and always during high price season. We asked that we be called for permission to fill first. Finally that was resolved. We only use the propane occasionally (we use a wood stove 80% of the time) so we don't use much propane. Great news right? FINALLY keeping cost low on a utility! We are now just getting to 55% and with the concerns with power, road closure issues in the winter, we thought we should top off while prices are low. Called for a fill up and they denied us. Said it has to be 150 gallons in order to fill up. Magically that is right at the same time when the prices will start to go up I'm guessing, so we obviously disagreed. Nope, still denied. We should have a right to say when we want to fill and PAY FOR THE PRODUCT. You are seriously going to try to control when we can and cannot use your services? A good company should embrace helping keep the cost low for their customers. Heck, I could even see a SMALL service charge if we want to fill less than 150, but to flat out say no?!?! Our neighbor warned us about them when we first moved in, guess we should have listened. I've asked for my contract terms before talking to a manager. If they continue to be this way, they can take their tank back and we will gladly give our money to someone else. read more

I came on here to write a review and was quite surprised by some of the negative reviews. My experience with JS West has been absolutely fantastic. We were being given the runaround by our old propane company at a rental property we own and called JS west to inquire about changing the service. We have used JS at our own home for several years and have always been happy with the pricing and the service. From the first person who answered the phone, to the sales woman who I spoke with (and who came out to the property for a site inspection), to the gentlemen who changed the tank...EVERYONE WAS WONDERFUL and more than accommodating. We had some time constraints and they all went up and beyond the call of duty to listen to our concerns and help us out. I usually don't take the time to write reviews but they were so phenomenal, I made a point to do this. Hopefully some of the bad reviews were just hard to please people. I am a personal assistant and my boss had me call around for prices to different local companies, I called JS west and they wouldn't give me a price, just said 'sorry we don't service your boss" and hung up on me! Why would you ever work with a company with customer service this poor! I have worked in customer service for years and have never hung up on a potential client! I wish there was a negative star. We had been a loyal customer for many years but the recent "make them up as you go policy changes", terrible customer service gave me no alternative but to fire them. I wish I had never signed up with them. I was not an auto pay customer and after a few months they started charging my credit card without my permission. The first and last time they did this was 1 week after I payed my bill. Before I even got the bill in the mail, they charged my credit card. This was also right before Christmas. I called and I didnt even get "I'm sorry", or " It was a mistake, I will have the money returned to your account". All I got was " so many people haven't been paying their bills, so we went ahead and ran everyones credit card we had on file if there was an amount owed". I told them I had 30 days to pay and they said " well we have changed our policies on that now". I don't think anyone there knows how to say sorry or how to make a customer happy. They realize you are trapped in a lease and can't do anything about it. I will not be returning as a customer. read more

A word of warning if you are looking for a Propane Co, and you live in Placerville, beware of JS West & Company. I want you to know that in writing this review I have retyped it several time but deleted everyone but this one because I did not know a nice way to say what I wanted. I brief, don't fall for the first fill discount that seams to come only just after you tank was filled or almost full so the discount has minimal cost to them. Also yes they will go out of there way to help but you will pay dearly for it. They are good at telling you what you want to hear, Like Used car salesman, but won't stand behind it or follow through. In two years of service it has been nothing but threats and broken promises. To answer the question you all are thinking, Yes I am going to change companies when my lease is up and yes they will charge to to pick up there equipment after the lease is up but it will be worth it. Ya, you are right they won't because if they did I would not be righting this review. In my opinion there are lots of good Propane Companies that will provide you great service and great Pricing. read more

Couldn't be more disappointed with this company. They were given protocols to enter our ranch for delivery, the protocols were simple, don't leave the gates open otherwise our cattle would escape. There delivery person couldn't follow the rule. They let out a dozen of our cattle which are gone now. inculding three calfs. Then we fired them and they tried to claim they owned our tank when we purchased it with our house. They claim the tank is there's which is untrue. I have the closing statement and the seller sold us the house with no exclusions and she even signed a document stating that the tank was owned by her and purchased originally by her husband. JS West never filed a UCC-1 which is required by law in every state in the US. They did not do that and therefor they have no claim to our tank. They're just trying to threaten us.
