I've been going to J Salon and Spa in Lancaster for almost 15 years, and I can honestly say I'll never go anywhere else. Jodale is amazing -- she just gets hair. She's talented, creative, and somehow always knows exactly what will look best on me, even when I'm not sure myself. The salon is beautiful -- modern, spotless, and so relaxing. Each stylist, manicurist, and esthetician has their own private studio, so it feels calm and personal instead of loud and crowded like most salons. I'm giving one stars because my nails came out perfectly fine, and i am satisfied with my service. But still one stars and ill explain why. I made an appointment with this salon for nails for my sister and myself so i could let her get her first set of acrylic nails for her birthday. Booking the appointment i talked with a Madison Espinoza (I believe that was her name), also known as Madi Rae. I told her over the phone neither my sister or myself ever get our nails done, so we wanted recommendations from the professional. She was very sweet, welcoming, comfortable, I have no complaints about her customer service. My sister goes first and she wanted a basic french tip, with a deep red color for her tips. Madi mentions she can do black tips with a red chrome, where she proceeds to mention her chromes come from shein, and that was a red flag to us. We're also charged an extra $20 because Madi sucks at french tips and is still practicing. So she's prepping my sisters nails (which were supposed to be Gel X nails), and the base color of the nail is a yellow-y flesh color, and the red tips are beautiful. Madi also told us she is still practicing acrylics at home and isn't that experienced with them either. Both mine and my sisters nails were applied with acrylic. I do not know how nails work honestly, but every gel x application i've seen online is applied with a glue, and not acrylic. So we both got an acrylic set, with the plastic nail tips, and i paid for a gel x set for both of us, which is priced higher, and leads me to assume since i mentioned i am inexperienced, i was taken advantage of. To end the entire experience, my sisters nails started peeling, and the base coats were wet under the top coat, meaning the nails werent fully cured. It was both of her thumbs, i sent a photo to madi and she offered to correct the one nail the next day, and i declined and instead asked for a refund for my sisters set of nails. I was offered $15 refund for the ONE botched nail, or 50% off an upcoming pedicure service. My sister spent her night removing all of madi's work and repainting her nails. Redoing her own birthday gift, and i frankly feel quite stupid and will not be coming back to this salon or recommending them in the future. UPDATE: 3.5 weeks later, i'm attempting to remove my nails. I followed every instruction to a T, and have had to file down and soak in acetone (20 minutes at a time) for two days, alternating between soaking, scraping, and filing. Attached are pictures after my fourth soak off & file, and i still have to work on them. I also want to mention that all acrylic under the gel tip is gummy, which is indicative of using even more cheap products. read more

I was referred by my friend to Jodale , I had a horrible experience about 3 weeks before I contacted J Salon . The girl who has done my hair for about a year over processed my hair , it was broken and dry and brittle . Jodale took me in and fixed me right up ! She recommended products that I am using now and what a difference !! It will take a while to get back to normal ! But at least I know that I am in good hands and what a difference she made. Later I got an e-mail stating that they did not do powder. I said no problem they could take it off and do gel instead. They told me ok. I have been with my stylist Lina for over a dozen years and wouldn't trust anyone else! She is honest about what will and what won't work with your hair. What I love most about Lina is that she is always up to try something fun, whether it's shaving my head, dyeing it pink or just letting it grow out. I started going to Sandra for eyelash extensions a few months ago and she also helps me to feel my prettiest. Hashimotos stole away most of my eyelashes, but Sandra has made them look long and lush. She is meticulous and like Lina, honest about what will and what won't work with your natural lashes. I have been here twice, scheduled with Leila for my haircut and my hair is exactly the way that I ask and when I say "just cut the split ends" she just cuts the split ends and not any more, she knows and understands the importance of having long hair! and I have not had this long of hair that is also healthy in such a LONG time!! I was lucky enough to be "walk-in" the first time since everything is by appointment and if you need a trim I would suggest you go to Leila especially because my hair has grown back and 3x longer when she cut it! read more

I have been coming to j salon for almost 2 years. I followed my hair dresser and friend Leila Harvey over from another salon. The people in here are always friendly and it is also very clean. Everyone has their own little studio which is nice cause it drowns out some of the noise of the blow dryers. I have been going to Leila now for 4 years. She has fixed my hair from an over bleaching I had done and made it healthier then ever. She is always so great when it comes to my color and switching it up all the time. She was able to get my hair from a bright red to a dark brown for a job I had started and my hair color was no longer allowed. She keeps my hair healthy and the best part is she isn't scissor happy. When you tell her an inch she takes off an inch. I always get so many compliments on my hair and that makes me know it was money well spent. It's true you get what you pay for. I made an appointment with Heather for a haircut. I got there on time and didn't have to wait at all. She was nice, gave advice for style, and this is the first salon I've been to where the shampoo was not rushed but luxurious AND I got a scalp massage! Came here for the first time because my friend recommended Angela to me and her hair is always flawless. I have really damaged bleached curly/course thick hair I wasn't even sure if Angela was going to turn me away but she didn't. Angela told me exactly what my past stylist had been doing wrong and assured me that she's been doing hair for years and she would take care of it. We talked about my options and made a plan to make it keep it blonde but make it healthier. Really appreciated how she and the rest of the staff treated me. salon is pleasant and good energy to be around. We added some ash to my roots to go for an ombré look, toned up my blonde and Angela fixed my crooked hair cut that my last stylist gave me.
