My 21st birthday was coming up so she was able to compromise an appropriate pricing and time for me. Erica gave me beautiful highlights and lightened up my hair since it's heavy and thick. I spent about three hours getting my hair washed, colored and styled. I think if you have a date at the hair salon, you just need to expect to make a block of time for it. I regret buying the $500 painting from Suzie @ the Poppy Festival several years ago and finally taking her up on experiencing her salon. Every time I look at the painting I cherished, I'm reminded of the trust I wrongfully put into these New Waves "professionals" and how I was taken advantage of during this pandemic. It is truly sad when a beauty school will move heaven & Earth to bring back your signature look, while both Carla and Suzie acted insulted and snobby because they think their professional opinion outranks what a customer actually wants. If you have time, money, and energy to burn in playing a stupid, catty, political war, by all means, go here. If you just want what you paid for and to be taken seriously, try anywhere else for a hair dye job. *$140 to Carla to get my hair different shades of brown because she had to mix the red color (it wasn't in her book), didn't face the chair to the mirror the entire time (so I couldn't see what she was doing, but I kept trying to convince myself to trust her since she's a "professional"), and told me to "just wash it a few times" in response to me telling her my desired red against the black "didn't pop as much as I had expected it to" when we were finally done and I could look in the mirror (I didn't want to argue or be disrespectful with her in public, as her other coworkers and clients were sitting nearby, no good deed goes unpunished)... I trusted her enough to work with her on correcting it, but she got frustrated and "insulted" very fast, abusing her power during a pandemic to somehow put me in my place or teach me a lesson. *Any other hairstylist at New Waves was afraid to touch me because "I was Carla's." *Suzie "backs up her girls" and "had to go back to her client." *$150 to the beauty school to bleach my hair and semi-permanently dye it red and black, like I originally wanted to a point where I felt I could leave the house again and not be embarrassed (brown/black hair makes me look like a hag, and the purpose of dying my hair was to feel good about myself enough again to continue helping the community during a world crisis). *Putting myself even more at risk during a pandemic, in the name of beauty, by seldom washing my hair to preserve semi-permanent color + using cold water in winter with Raynaud's + using expensive Redken + lowest setting on flat iron, all while being an essential worker on a fixed income. *~$150 to the beauty school to permanently dye and bring back my 2-tone signature look a month later, but the pandemic forced a shutdown. *Federal gov't forcing my credit card's hand into not accepting anything other than a miracle letter from the closed beauty school, stating that they corrected it, in order to get my $140 back from unethical, unprofessional, and greedy Carla/New Waves. *~$450 total eaten cost when all is said and done, to correct my hair and bring back my look, when it should have just been a one-time ~$150 to the appropriate professionals who do actually care about their customers and clients. read more

Well.. i had high hopes for this place since it seems to have pretty good reviews. I got my nails done here on dec 24th by Rita my appointment was at 4:30 but i showed up about 30mins early. I told them no rush since i was half an hour early. I showed her the picture i wanted done and she said she could do it. We get done about 6 pm and at point I'm asking her about the staining on my skin and she said it would come off in a few wash's odd as I've never been stained before in all the years I've been getting my nails done but hey it's Christmas Eve I'll take her word for it. A few hours later I'm brushing my teeth before bed and one just pops off. Confused as how this just happens cuz they are brand new and it didn't hurt at all. I sit there and decide to reach out after Christmas for a fix as i didn't want to bug her over a nail on Christmas. I call on the 26th and she tells me to come in and she'll fix it , i do she she redoes the nail and tells me it takes 24 hours for the glue to dry ( never had to wait 24 hours before for the glue to dry) As i get home 2 more pop off and since that day all my nails just pop off. As I'm eating, driving ,anything that wouldn't warrant one to just pop off. I try calling her to come in and have her remove the rest and get a refund but no answer so i leave and message and it's been 3 days with no reply. I tried calling her one last time today before going to the salon in person and one ring then voicemail . So i go to the salon and ask for her they kindly informed me that i just missed her. And then ask if I have tiny nail beds and that's the reason they are Popping off. For one I've been getting my nails done for years and NEVER have them just pop off especially when they are brand new. Secondly do no lie and make up excuses for poorly done nails. And since it seems like she's dodging my calls i guess I'll have to dispute it with my bank. I HOPE the owner sees this review. In the morning I'll be filing a complaint with her. This is bittersweet for me because I finally found a great stylist (Rebecca), but i am moving out of state in 3 weeks. Anyways when i called to make an appointment the man that answered asked what kind of style cut i was wanting and i told him. His response was that he wasn't as good at those cuts as Rebecca so he put her on and we set the appointment. She later txt and asked if i had photos of what i wanted so i sent them and we chatted about the details which made me so comfortable when i walked in for the appointment. I went and seen Yesenia at New Wave. She is really nice and was pretty easy to get ahold of to schedule an appointment and was happy enough to take my 190 for my hair. But I tried getting ahold of her for about two weeks now because My ashy blonde hair faded within the first week and I only washed it twice with purple Shampoo and a sulfate free shampoo and followed everything she said. I ask why it happened after texting her twice I FINALLY GOT A RESPONSE where she asked what shampoo I used I wrote her back And haven't even got a response. This review is for Keren and her awesomeness at hair extensions. She is one of the only reasons I am sad about moving out of Lancaster as I ditched my hair extensions because I can't find anyone else up to her standard to do them right. I got microlinks after having her take out some horrible glue in extensions. She gets her hair down south and you can either go buy it yourself, or have her do it for an extra fee. She is very reasonable in her pricing and for the amount of time she spends doing your hair it is well worth it. She blends everything perfectly and does her own color swaths, my last set was an ombre with some funky colors thrown in. She is so precise as well, she gets the strands down to tiny swathes and matches up the extension perfectly. I had about 150-200 pieces in....they grow out nicely and if you maintain them properly then they will last for a long time before you need to switch them out (probably between 6-8 months). She spends time on aftercare and products you should use as well. When I got them removed in Austin, TX...the stylist there commented on how awesome they were with the placement and size and how talented someone has to be to get it done like that. Ana knows how I want and what color looks good and does my hair so great I wish I could go see her everyday. I even got hit on after a cut. That was a nice bonus. I have been here once before a couple of months back, Brett did my hair and it came out good. Today saturday 12/29 i call the salon at 11am to make an appointment, i dont even ask for Brett due to date, i asked for anybody who could do a touch up of coloring, a girl Rebecca told me that at 5:30 is what she had available, and i said ok, she also said that if she had another opening before that time she will call me back, and i said ok to that too. I waited since 11am to 5pm and did not get a call so i start driving to the salon because i do have the 5:30 for sure. I arrived at the salon at 5:20, a guy receives me, i tell him about my appt with Rebecca and he told me to have a sit, and i received at 5:20pm a text from Rebeca saying that she had an emergency and had to leave but that she passed me to another girl, i aswered her back saying that im at the salon already, and who to asked for, she texts me back saying that the other girl was busy so could not do it, if i want to reschedule my appointment, i told her no. I understand emergencies, if thats really what happened, who knows, but 10min before my appointment that i have been waiting for 6 hours? I waited with no problem, but where do i go and how do i get my hair done at 6pm on a saturday? It would have been easier to tell me at 11am they were full and i would have found another place to do my hair. What about where i have to be tonight and my hair is horrible? I believe this is bad customer service and because of being handle this way, i would not go back to this place, i cant trust to make an appointment in a place that is not going to comply and make me waste my time and money. read more

The things she can do with acrylic are unbeatable. She goes above and beyond the basic pink and white acrylics. I like to refer to her nails as "Atomic Nails". Your finger will come off before your nails do. The other girls i recommend are Tina or Tracie. They both do an amazing job as well! For hair, I highly recommend Erica Ayala. I just decided to walk in today for a haircut and try a new place out. It's $35 for a haircut which might be a lot to you if you're used to going to other places like super cuts, but I'd say it's reasonable for a salon. Rita E. handled my hair today and my overall experience with her was wonderful. She was very friendly, asked me what I wanted to my hair, and did not hesitate to make suggestions and give me tips on how to take care of my hair. She used Moroccan oil in my hair, which is amazing and I'm definitely considering buying a bottle. She even told me about all the other services that they do at the salon, which is huge. They do hair, nails, and even have a spa in the back. Rita's goal was to make sure that I did not leave her chair until I was happy with what she did with my hair. The hair stylist that did my hair was very nice. She was super friendly and had a great personality. However, she should NOT be doing hair. I was refered to her by my friend and needless to say what was suppose to be a touch up for my already weaved bleach blond hair, ended up a nightmare. By the time I left my hair was a greyish lavender color. I was there for 4 hours, till after all the other stylist left and didnt actually end up walking about he door till 11pm. I was there that late not because she was trying to fix the mess she had made but just because thats how long it took her to do my hair! Had I had stayed till after she tried fixing it, it would have been well past 12am. Several people have mentioned to me that this was a fluke and that she normally does great hair, and even has a previous review on here of how great she does hair. However, one time is enough times for me. I was the unfortunate one whos one mess up she had, ended up being on me apparently, and needless to say I wont be going back. Ever.
