I have seen Dr. Schwartz on several occasions, and he is always been professional and efficient. Today, my visit was at the Webster office in San Ramon. On a prior visit he diagnosed an arm problem and performed elbow surgery for me. Afterwards, he recommended several weeks of arm therapy. Everything worked very well and I was very pleased. Of course, I still have three screws in my elbow, but that is normal, and I hardly ever notice. I now am more careful about riding my bike around railroad tracks. Today the doctor looked into a case of shoulder pain. Everyone was incredibly efficient and the doctor got to the bottom of the problem quite rapidly. This time, I don't need to get any screws put into body parts. It's just a minor thing called a spur I was treated with courtesy and professionalism at all times. Not at all happy with Dr Schwartz. I broke my shoulder and while I was able to get a quick appt with Dr Schwartz, he looked at the ER X-rays and said my shoulder would not need surgery - just 3 weeks in a sling and then PT. He did not take any new images. I didn't trust this "diagnosis" and went to see my "regular" ortho DR the following Monday (my person wan't available immediately). My ortho took new X-rays, confirmed that the injury was serious and sent me to a shoulder specialist. I ended up needing to get my shoulder replaced and if I had "stuck" with the mis-diagnosis from Dr Schwartz my shoulder would NOT have healed. On top of it all there was absolutely no follow up from Dr Schwartz or his office. I will not go back there ever. In addition the office is VERY unorganized. Despite me telling them my insurance had changed, that information never got to their billing department and they billed my VERY old insurance. It took several phone calls to get that mess straightened out. Avoid this Dr and this practice overall. read more

Dr. Schwartz is an amazing Doctor and well respected doctor in his field Who has done multiple surgeries on me with excellent results. He is well known and respected in his field. I am disabled today as a result of Dr. Schwartz' refusal to follow-up on any of his insisted upon tests, including a PET Scan that needlessly exposed me to high amounts of radiation. He didn't even bother to read the PET Scan I found out after I spent 6 months in bed with a dislocated shoulder in Level 7-8 pain. I called his office constantly and was told to work through the pain!! I had a seriously dislocated shoulder that needed surgical intervention! I believe he is compromised by either drugs or alcohol. I met with him 3 days ago and he submitted falsified, fraudulent, inflammatory, slanderous, notes into my medical records in an attempt to assassinate my character, to blame me for my medical condition, to exonerate himself, to rewrite my medical history. This doctor is a monster!!! He will disable as he has done me and he might even kill you!! I AM BRINGING LEGAL ACTION AGAINST HIM. read more

DO NOT GO TO HIM !!! I had the worst experience I have ever had with any medical professional in my entire life ever. This doctor is narcissistic, condescending, unprofessional, outright mean. He has no manners at all. Has no clue how to interact with another human being. First of all I am upset with neurologist Dr. P Suzzane Maska for referring me to this horrible person. I don't know if they are in cahoots with each other to give more business or what?? I went to her with wrist pain and was wanting to ensure I don't have carpal tunnel. Also had some c5-6-7 compression as per a MRI. She had no business referring me to an orthopedic surgeon. I did not have a bone related issue at all. Now Dr. Tad had no interest in listening to me or looking at my MRI or previous reports or symptoms or anything like that. I had to strictly answer yes / no. If I attempted to give any relevant additional information, he pretty much sush-ed me. He was engrossed in making his own notes, without even examining me or letting me speak!!! That sounds rather suspicious. I cannot really explain but he has a way of making you feel like shit. He looks down upon you, peering over his glasses that are perched on his nose. He would give me a strict stare any time I tried to speak. I had made elaborate notes prior to my appointment as I am a very organized person. He did not let me get through my symptoms. I came out of his office on the verge of tears. Sheer humiliation. You would rather live with your pain than go back to being in his scalding presence. I would give zero starts if I could. I don't understand how other patients are okay with being treated so shabbily. Maybe he is just racist, who knows! read more

Yeahhh, no, just no. See other reviews. He refused to look at new MRI in favor of 3 month old x-ray of my hand. The write-up was fabricated... indicated I'm hypertensive due to being overweight, I walked up the stairs 3 times because I forgot things (off day) right before getting BP checked and weigh 130lbs; he never advised me of diet or recommended meds. I was there for a hand injury. Epic fail. It's a WC patient mill from my perspective. read more

Having very active kids, I saw Dr. Schwartz several times. He is very knowledgable , professional and efficient. Dr. Schwartz goes straight to the point and doesn't waste your or his time. He is very detailed and explains the problem clearly by giving you all treatment options. My son had also a surgery for his fractured finger that went very well. Dr. Schwartz and his staff are caring and very accommodating ; they make sure that their patients are comfortable with the procedure and get the best care during and after the treatment. I've been to this practice for appointments about 10 times so far (initial exam & X-ray, MRI, pre-surgery exam, surgery, three post surgery exams (thus far), plus three times I "dropped in" without an appointment to get a stronger pain prescription, documentation for short-term disability insurance, and work. Every time, I found the entire staff extremely helpful, friendly, and very prompt assisting to my needs. My experience with Dr. Schwartz is that his practice isn't a practice, but a patient mill. Exams are EXTREMELY rushed, so rushed that he 'tells' you where your pain is! (He was wrong, by the way, but I was too stunned by the exam to say anything.) There are many physicians/surgeons out there who are EXCELLENT, who actually like what they do, and who even treat their patients with courtesy, professionalism, and compassion. Unfortunately, I can't put Dr. Schwartz into that category. He's probably a good surgeon, but I'm not sticking around to find out. read more

Dr Schwartz was good when I had my private insurance but when I switched for worker com he didn't treat me the same. The person who was attending me was his assistant. He didn't help me. I ended up changing doctors. read more

Dr. Schwartz repaired my right should a year or so ago. During the surgery he discovered that my bicep tendon was shredded and had to reattached it to my upper humerous. His physician assistant, Josef Maier, was also very helpful in follow-up visits and in answering questions. All in all, he did a terrific job and my recovery has gone very well. I will be seeing him soon for problems with my left shoulder. Highly recommended. read more

After suffering for 5 days with a shattered arm as a result of a PG&E smart meter fire and not getting treatment at 2 local hospitals, Dr.Schwartz was the first Orthopedic doctor to respond to my needs. For the last year I have awoken everyday in gratitude to the doctor, and his assistant who put my arm back together, as I attempted, then partially succeeded, and now nearly completely, stretch to meet the day. I do not believe I would be alive today if he had not seen me, listened to me and treated me.. This was a lifetime first in my experience with American Medicine. My experience with his staff was the first time I have ever experience respect in an American Medical facility. I also believe the quality of interaction and respect I received facilitated the quality and speed of my recovery. I cannot speak to all of Webster Orthopedics. I phoned every office initially and after long waits left messages that were responded to after I got out of surgery. The long wait, 10-30 minutes, to reach a human at this office was the worst part of the experience. read more

Comments about patient mill are spot on. Showing up for surgery after fasting all night only to be told by the very nice surgical center people that the doctor's office was working insurance issues is not the way to go into surgery. Adding insult to injury, after more than a two hour wait, I was informed that the doctor's office would not take the insurance and that I needed to write a check. If I would have known that up front, I would have just written the check! Not receiving return calls from doctor's office scheduler -- while I was waiting in the surgical center waiting room -- was beyond rude. Fast forward to post op visit .... all I can say is it was not good at all! What's unfortunate is that the doctor's apparently capable skills are lost amid the poor office support, combined with his insensitivity during post-op appointment. I would not recommend Dr Schwartz! He performed two wrist surgeries on my 17 yr old son. The first surgery didn't heal/graft, which does happen and isn't that uncommon for this type of injury to the wrist. So, we made the mistake of letting him do the second surgery, this time taking bone fragments from my sons hip bone. The wrist never healed and consistently got worse. Dr Schwartz continued to tell my son that everything was "healing" fine and to give it more time. After about 9mos-1 yr, we went to another highly recommended surgeon for another opinion. We were told that the second surgery should of never happened the way it was done and that after a complete analysis, he would need a third surgery to correct the problems. The second surgeon told us a few things that surprised us that he would say about the work of another Dr, but the short version is the the second surgery was a "hack job" for lack of a better term. We are reasonable people and realize that surgery isn't a guaranteed fix and that other doctors will have other opinions, but the simple fact that Dr Schwartz would brush off the second surgery as a success ( and we do feel like the outcome wasn't taken serious) and that my son had to endure a third surgery (that we now know could have been avoided), is the biggest problem. After experiencing the difference with the new surgeon VS Dr Schwartz, you owe it to yourself to go elsewhere! read more

I fell and broke a small scaphoid bone in my wrist. I was referred to see Dr. Schwartz. He recommended I have surgery the very next day. I was hesitant (since it had been a week, and my primary care doctor and the ER hadn't indicated things weren't urgent and it would probably just continue to be in a brace). Schwartz said that I needed surgery right away to prevent arthritis and didn't have time to consider options. Looking back I dearly regret not getting a second opinion, but listened to him and his M.D.- I went through with the surgery, and my wrist hurts now worse than when it was broken. Over a year later I still have profuse pain in my wrist, and I am facing a second surgery. I went back to see him and he seemed more eager to cut back in and see what was going on, than he did to do a CT scan or MRI. Sorry - but surgery should be a last pick, not the first.....He really has damaged my wrist- my suggestion - don't even think about him! I suggest UCSF or Stanford- this place is a human chop shop- You have insurance! Push for something decent- your body's worth it! read more
