This is a great little takeout place! Menu has several different options to choose from and prices are very reasonable. Service was friendly and my order was made quickly. My cheesesteak and fries were delicious. My one critique would be that the bread on the bottom of the sandwich was thin and got a bit soggy. I suppose I should have been suspicious when I saw the Fried Rice and the Philly Flavors (teriyaki, hot honey, etc) selection boards. A good cheesesteak needs needs nothing more than onions and cheese to be good and a hot honey or teriyaki option is just WRONG. Fried rice at a cheese steak shop - REALLY!!! The young man behind the counter was pleasant and the prices were very reasonable: a cheesesteak, double fries and a coke was unde $17. Unfortunately one of the major components, the bun ,was questionable (not very flavorful on its own and not the freshest I've had) What steak there was (and it was a small portion) awas chopped, not sliced, a cardinal sin for cheesesteak purists. The decor is probably best described as picnic-table chic, but if you've ever been to one of the REAL cheese steak palaces you will know that is pretty standard and even having tables is a plus! One good thing is that the music is probably 70's or 80's R&B and soul and that is a VERY good thing! If you are looking to fill up at a relatively low cost, this place is fine, but if you are looking for a true Philly cheese steak then keep looking. read more

I was leaving the parking lot for a new boba place and my eye caught J-Town. It was less than an hour before closing and I thought I'd try to grab some wings. When I went in I was told that they were very backed up and the lady at the register went to check in the back to see if they could take my order. She returned and asked what I'd like. I ordered five honey garlic pepper wings with rice. I was quoted 25-30 minutes. I was in no major rush so that was fine. As I waited in my car, the revolving door of customers going in and out never stopped. I guess most people call in orders here and were coming by to pick them up. After about 30 minutes, I went back inside and I waited another 5 to 6 minutes or so before my order was ready. They showed me the wings before I left to ensure that the order was right, which I appreciated. The food was hot and I was on my way. My first thought when I opened the container was that the wings were very tiny. For six dollars for the wings alone, I expected something a little bit larger. But I must say, when I tasted them, they were so good! The sweetness was well balanced by the garlic and the pepper added seasoning. I wish that I had gotten about 10 more! The rice was just OK but when I added some of the honey garlic pepper sauce to it, that worked well. I wonder if you can get extra sauce! Next time I'll ask. Well I called this restaurant after looking up a wing spot on the Yelp app. Place my order online they were very kind took my order really quick. I called back maybe five minutes after I ordered and told them to make the wings extra wet. Once I receive my wings and got home they had done exactly what I asked. The 10 wing combo is $11.99 which i thought sounded like a great price. * Ordered two flavors - hot honey and hot honey mustard * The hot honey mustard is only the hot honey with honey mustard drizzled on them (see photo) - i was disappointed since it really did not change the flavor that much * The wings are very small. The drums are only slightly larger than my thumb when cooked. So they are "well done" and crispy (not breaded). * The wings were cooked well and the hot honey flavor was good - not too hot They have inside seating. They have 3 table for people and 3 tables for two people, but they are not socially distanced (just in case that both I may go back and try another dish, but unfortunately it will not be top of my list due to the size/quality of the wings. Not sure what sauce they fry it in but for me, it took away from the savory flavor. It wasn't overly sweet but it was definitely noticeable. Sat down to look at the digital tv menu on the wall behind the counter while the worker was finishing a phone order. They don't have a strong online presence because I couldn't find a website and the only menu I could find prior to walking in was 3 years old. The worker took my order and I ordered a 15 pc wing with 3 different sauces out of about 20 sauces that they have. Sweet and spicy flavor will be a must next time I come. While I waited I had the peach lemonade. So good. I waited maybe 10 minutes for my wings and fish. I had to order tilapia even though I was expecting to order catfish based on others menu photos. When my food came the worker presented the boxes and I sprinkled seasoning salt that sits on the counter on my fries. They didn't have crinkle cut fries which are my favorite. Got a refill and left for home to eat. The wings were delicious, well seasoned and sauced. The fried fish on the other hand was sooo bland. I won't get it again. I asked for extra tartar sauce from the worker but he only gave me three little packs for 2 pieces of fish. Maybe if he gave me more tartar sauce, I could mask the taste of the bland fish with it. I had no issues with the wings but the crab low boil was overpriced, not great quality, overly seasoned, and was missing the shrimps. I ordered the food to go and when I bought it home my girls thought I went to two or three different restaurants to order the food. Lol Yesterday I ordered 20 pieces of wings and fried rice. I went with garlic parmesan and sweet & spicy flavors this time. You're only allowed to choose 2 flavors for every 10 wings. The garlic parmesan was way too salty. That was disappointing because that was the only flavor my kids would eat. The first time I ordered the teriyaki flavor and they liked that. I'll have to stick with teriyaki for them next time. The sweet & spicy had a very tiny kick and wasn't very sweet which was fine with me. The fried rice wasn't amazing but it was good. Service was very friendly and food came out quick. My go-to meal is the 10-piece wings with fried rice for just $8.99. You can have fries with it if you prefer. My Asian in me wants rice of course! Plenty and filling for cheap! It usually cost $10 for the 10-piece wings alone and this meal comes with fried rice. Also, for every 5-piece, you can have a different flavor. Wings with Ranch flavor and Teriyaki sauce satisfies my taste buds. Food is made to order so you know they're fresh. The wings are crispy and for a fast food joint, their fried rice is tasty. I am feeling 3.5 would have been more accurate. When you enter- the tables are white, with a mix of white chairs and wooden benches. The decor is mish mosh and doesn't really fit together- but it's just my opinion. The white tables glare, screaming that they need to be cleaned~ meh. One cashier/order taker is behind the counter and there were just a few patrons when I arrived a bit past 2pm. That's usually a slower time for most restaurants- turns out they weren't slow at all! I ordered a #3- philly cheesesteak meal and poured my drink and sat. The train of to-go pick ups began. Steady flow of patrons coming in to pick up orders! Easily 15 people grabbed boxes before my order came up! It did take a bit for my food came out- but the steady flow reminded me that they actually were cranking out orders in the kitchen. All food comes out in to-go boxes and the young lady behind the counter opens the box for you to inspect the food and offers the accouterments to complete your meal. I ate in and forgot to ask for napkins when I got my food and they weren't readily available- I eventually had to ask in between customers. The Philly was good- good amount of seasoned meat, soft bread. The fries were plentiful- tons actually- I couldn't finish them! Crinkle cut- perfect crisp but not over cooked. The name says it all J-Town "WINGS & PHILLY"... but from looking at the menu, they also serve Burgers, Fish, Shrimp, Chicken Tenders and Salads.   Now I'm always about chasing down a signature food in Jacksonville and Philly Cheesesteaks happens to be one of them, so that's what I ordered, the #3 Philly Combo Special. My wife ordered the #8 Combo Special, the 5 Pc Wings (honey lemon pepper flavor) with Shrimp Fried Rice.   Taste Impressions: Now I've been to Philadelphia once and have tried a Philly there (the birthplace of that yummich). J-Town's Philly version was not too bad, it's not the best, and not the worst. I would definitely place it in my Top 5 Philly-Jax tasted list. The bread was soft, flavor and meat was just right.   The 5 Pc Honey Lemon Pepper was on point, great flavor. Shrimp Fried Rice was tastier than I expected. I split the order with garlic Parmesan. Now what's cool at this place is that you have the option to either get fries or fried rice . I opted for fries due to not seeing a lot of hype around the rice. When I went to pick up my food the woman who answered had clearly had a come to Jesus. She was super nice. The food..... with the right marketing and a customer service makeover from the apostles over at Publix this could easily be one of the top wing spots in Jax. The wings were GOOOOOD. They weren't scrawny and they were cooked and flavored to perfection. They were juicy I was all in my greedy girl feelings. The fries even though you could tell they were frozen this place offers seasoning salt or lemon pepper for the fries and that made them actually really good. And they were cooked to order so they were hot with the wings. I liked the lemon pepper more than the garlic Parmesan wings. There was more Parmesan than garlic. All in all, I will be back for sure!
