So... we decided to return again today for takeout and the food quality was terrible. Husband and i even questioned if it's because he ordered this time and he's white whereas the previous times I ordered in Chinese. Anyway we ordered three things: shrimp wonton egg noodle soup, Singapore mei fun, and beef chow fun. Pretty standard and easy to make dishes. However, the shrimp wonton had no flavor with only one mini shrimp in the wonton itself. The beef chow fun was soggy... even the beef was tasting watered down. As if it was leftovers that were re-cooked in excess water. Even chow fun sitting in broth for 5 hrs don't end up as mushy as this dish. The Singapore mei fun had dried pepper flakes and not much tumeric... who uses dried pepper flakes?! That goes on pizza not Singapore mei fun. Overall this was a disappointment. What a waste of money and ingredients. Both my mother and I stopped eating the dinner. I switched to eating cake instead and will likely have instant ramen later tonight when I get hungry again. read more

The food is hit or miss, usually miss. My wife orders out of convenience and the wontons are always old, sesame chicken is rarely tender and edible. Lo mein is not bad but overall we will be avoiding this place for takeout. read more

Always wanted to try this restaurant. Finally had the opportunity and was disappointed. Ordered chicken wings (didn't order ribs because they were $17 for an appetizer! Rediculous!). The wings i have to say we're actually delicious. Also ordered the Sesame Chicken. It was very dry! It was big chunks of chicken coated in sauce. However, my main complaint was that although the restaurant was empty, the waiter kept trying to take my plate. I had to say on more than one occasion that I wasn't done! Friendly staff but the food isn't that great. Sushi I like but the Chinese food is pretty lackluster. The fried rice is a bit soggy. The general tso's, if you order it different spice levels, they don't actually change the spice level of the chicken. They change the spice level of the rice in the combo. The general tso's is also made of chicken breast which is strange, but not really bad I guess besides having the potential of being dry. The fry on the chicken is weak and the sauce is just very lackluster. Not spicy, not that sweet. I LOVE general tso's so this overall was pretty disappointing. read more

My boyfriend and I came home from a long day in manhattan so we just decided to order out. We remembered going into walgreens and smelling the pure awesomeness that came from fortune garden so we decided to place an order for delivery. I give them a call and right off the bat the lady who answered the phone was rude. Rushing me and cutting me off. Once we got home and were sitting down to eat the food looked like heaven. My boyfriend got the egg fried rice with boneless spare ribs and I got sesame chiken. My food couldve3 been a little better but his was delicious. And the egg rolls OMG they were HUGE And delicious. The only problem I had was once I was down to my last bite I realized it had shrimp in it. I cant eat shrimp it makes me feel bad dont judge me. Lol it kinda ruined it for me. This is my favorite Chinese food on the Island. The shredded Pork in Garlic Sauce is consistent to the style you will get in Chinatown. The egg rolls are pretty decent as well. Yesterday I ordered the Pepper Steak and it was good but they were a tad bit skimpy on the beef and gave me more vegetables and rice than they usually do. I'm hoping this is just a one off. They have an amazing Shrimp Noodle soup for $9.95. The broth was delicious, it had about 6-7 shrimps and the rice noodles are delivered in a separate container (thank you I appreciate that). I was able to get two meals out of this. The delivery service was fast. It may be a little bit more pricey than most Chinese restaurants on SI but to me its well worth it. Ive been inside of Jac Mao for dinner, the place is very clean and the staff was friendly. What surprised me the most is that they have regulars that hang out at the bar. I don't order Chinese often but when I do it's from Jac Mao! I discovered this place initially at work but decided to check out the place myself since I was a fan of their Lo Mein noodles. I decided to try out the broccoli and garlic sauce with vegetable spring rolls and was pleased with both the taste and fast service. I've had Chinese food at numerous places in the city but this was by far the only place that didn't feel like my food was drenched in sodium. I will say however, I felt the texture of the garlic sauce felt a little watered down hence the 4 stars. The vegetarian options were endless and they provide you with additional rice, hot sauce, and even a few fortune cookies. Pretty bland dishes and overpriced for the quality of food. It's about the same as greasy take-out food in terms of quality. We ordered the orange beef and shrimp wrapped bacon and the shrimp had an overpowering flavor. Our bill was a little over $50 for two entrees and one appetizer.
