Fushimi is still the best sushi on Staten Island, no contest. I always start with the rock shrimp tempura which is a must. After that we got a bunch of specialty rolls, some nigiri, and a couple classic rolls. Everything was super fresh and spot-on. The real surprise was the steak. We live nearby and always order from this location. Today we celebrated a special event and decided to order from them. We ordered our favorite chu toro sushi-The dish we have been ordering for many years. When we received the food the chu toro did not look or taste like the chu toro we always get. When we called to complain the restaurant. the manager was very rude. He said the chef had sent us chu toro. He yelled at us. That is what we got for being loyal customers for 13 years. The restaurant itself is very beautiful, I've been to the Staten Island Fushimi, Bay Ridge, and Williamsburg locations and they are all gorgeous and upscale. Not your typical sushi restaurant, this is a perfect place for a special occasion dinner, etc. The food here is delicious, my friend and I ordered the steamed pork gyoza to start, it was very enjoyable and came with about six pieces which was a good size for an appetizer. Next we got fried rice with beef to share, the fried rice was wasn't very flavorful and needed soy sauce. It was $17 for a decent portion, but could only be ordered as a separate side. I had asked our server if I could have chicken teriyaki and substitute the whipped potatoes and vegetables for the fried rice, she asked the kitchen but they said no which was disappointing. I've never been to an Asian cuisine restaurant where they served mashed potatoes with the teriyaki entree. So instead we ordered the side of rice and I got a sushi roll instead of the teriyaki entree. The sushi roll I got was the American Dream roll. I've had this many times before and each time it is more delicious. It is basically a shrimp tempura roll with kani salad on top and mango sauce. It was very fresh and the kani salad was outstanding and creamy. The mango sauce tops it all off, I could eat three of these without batting an eyelash. It is more expensive than a special roll at your standard sushi place, it's about $18 for eight pieces but it's worth it every once in a while. My friend got the duck which I tried and it was very tasty, the sauce added a nice flavor, but the portion was small and it didn't come with a side. Decent sushi place to go to in Staten Island. I usually go to the Brooklyn location by bay ridge but ever since moving here I've been hearing neighbors compliment this place. Came in around 6 for my sisters birthday party. They sat us at the corner of the restaurant which was sadly dark and quiet. Service was still pretty good though. Highly recommend the Long Island ice tea for light drinks, their other drinks are super strong for the occasional drinker. Appetizers were phenomenal. It's the usually firecracker shrimp and calamari but executed perfectly. Came out pipping hot and crispy with decent portion sizes. We all shared our food as we ordered the steak (came with bone marrow and mash potatoes), sushi rolls, sashimi deluxe, and some hand rolls. Food was great, sushi was decent not worth the price point. I think almost 16$ a roll the sushi would be amazingly fresh but it was your corner store sushi restaurant quality. The star of the show was definitely the steak, juicy and fatty and the gravy was amazing. The price was pretty ok with the big chunk of meat they provide. I love Fuschimi in Brooklyn. Never had a problem there. We went to the one in Staten Island. Although the food was good, we almost were cheated on the bill. When I received the bill, I looked at it as I usually do, and to my surprise, I was charged $50.00 for 2 miso soups. I called the manager and all she did was give me this BS excuse that it was a mistake. First of all, they have a POS system that has all the items and prices already listed. All the waitress had to do, is press the buttons corresponding to what we ordered. This leads me to believe that they are scamming their customers. Think about this. If they over charge and the customer doesn't look at his/her bill, they get away with it. If the customer looks at the bill like I did and catch this, all they have to do is apologize with no consequences. Shame on them read more

This place is amazing for teriyaki which is the only reason I'm giving it two stars. It used to be the best place on the island to get sushi. The prices were always ridiculous but since the sushi was fresh I felt that it was worth it. Now that it's become more popular I guess they don't care about quality anymore. I ordered a tuna avocado roll tonight and the tuna not only smells fishy but it tastes chewy and each piece is a different color...I'm assuming they gave me the fatty part of the fish. For two people I spent $75 ....4 rolls, 2 appetizers. This place is overrated and won't waste my money again. Everyone is 6 ft and more apart and it was just a nice atmosphere. The food was good too. This is a great fun place. Decor is modern and upscale, music is upbeat, and food is delicious (and presented beautifully I must say). I do not go there for sushi, as it's not extraordinary to me. Their main entrees and club atmosphere, however, making me come back for more. They have amazing specials from time to time, so be adventurous and try them, definitely! I came here on a weekday to celebrate my birthday. I had a great time here and the food was excellent but I was a bit biased that night because a lot of that had to do with being in the company of my great friends. That aside, the food critic in me did take some notes. These guys definitely didn't half-ass the "fusion" bit on the menu. There is an appetizer for every taste. The seared tuna was my favorite. I had the sea-of-party-in -your-mouth entree with the lobster, scallops and a bunch of other goodness that you will notice in my picture.
