    Burger with house salad...was ok

The 4 of us had dinner there last weekend and it was ok. Service was ok. Waiter was trying to be friendly. Food portions were ok, except for the Nachos that we ordered as an appetizer. As you will see in the picture, there was very little beef or even cheese. Definitely will not order this again. Would go back but would not order the nachos!

All I can say about this poutine is it looks good but is cold. Cold gravy and a warm plate. Not happy at all

My husband and I went to Jacks for dinner. It was our anniversary and I let reception know that. Our server Christine was amazing. What amazing friendly and knowledgeable service. I would definitely recommend Christine for her relatability and kindness.

What has happened to this once consistent franchise? It's received 2 stars for no other reason than the server and her fantastic service and sense of humour. The food was terrible. A simple pasta with butter for my daughter took much longer than expected. The pasta was dry. The lack of salt and pepper at the table was rather embarrassing. The chicken was immediately thrown on to the table. Upon a small sample, which was anything but pleasant, I could only assume that it was accidentally cooked in the food dehydrator or the attempt to serve my daughter mummified foreskin. The good news, the chicken fingers are huge now. Unfortunately, they are nowhere near as tender as they used to be, and the unfortunate heinous act of being dry and little spice. Not knowing the size change, I ordered the 8 piece. Not knowing the upgrade was an extra 9 dollars on top of the $20.99 starting price. So with a beer, the full pop for my mediocre dinner, dinner was just under $50. Poor value for poor food, slow service but a good server. I don't think I'll be back. It' was painfully embarrassing to see the disaster that is now Jack Astors. At least they had an upbeat crowd and an updated setting to celebrate the unfortunate disaster they served to my daughter and I. I've honestly had food poisoning that was more enjoyable.

I visited this location with my mother during the lunch rush on the weekend. The waiter was very friendly but it was hard for us to hear him and vice versa because of the volume of the music playing. We asked for straws and he smiled and nodded but we never got them, not a big deal but still. Awkward. Our food came out fairly quickly and was quite delicious for the most part, the only negative thing I would say was about their bread. It just tasted different/odd to me compared to other locations, like a certain spice was added or too much of a certain flavour was overpowering. I wasn't a fan. And same went for the dipping sauce for the sweet potato fries, it just tasted off. The place was quite clean as were the bathrooms. And has a over all nice and quick filling lunch at this Barrie location.

I had supper this evening at Jack Astor's, which is near my hotel. It was fairly busy for a Tuesday evening. I sat on the dining room side. I ordered what I usually order at Jack Astor's ... Chicken Parmigiana (Fresh chicken breast, lightly breaded and topped with smoked Mozzarella cheese and tomato sauce. Served with bowtie pasta, tossed in a creamy cheese sauce.) The pasta was REALLY good. The chicken was overcooked (burnt in some places) and kind of skimpy and loaded with tomatoes. Dave was my server and he took excellent care of me. He was friendly and attentive.

    Chicken club sandwhich

Crappy service & a crappy new menu. I ordered the chicken club which I've had before they changed up the menu, and they changed the toppings on it. Figured I'd give it a shot. Where is the chicken? It barely covered one half of the sandwich and the tomato and cheese were bigger than my chicken. Everyone else's meals were bland and had small portions too. Won't be back after this.

Good food, one of the best chain restaurants. Prices are reasonable. Should consider putting in more of the larger booths.

Not what it used to be. The quality of the food and service has dropped over time. It's ok but nothing special.

We also ordered the Beef Dip with Cactus Chips and Meatza Pizza. The Beef Dip was good. I liked the good amount of meat they put in the sandwich. The beef was tender and the buns were soft. They added horseradish too. The au jus needs some slight improvement. It was a bit too salty and the consistency was almost that of a watered down gravy made from a packet. The cactus chips were also salty but the creamy dill dip helped cut through the saltiness. The Meatza Pizza was delicious. The tomato sauce they used was different from the usual pizza sauces we've had. They also put a good amount of meat which makes the dish worth getting. We got a side of ranch and nacho cheese for dipping. The place had lots of seating and they had tv's at every booth/table. Our server was pleasant and both the drinks and the food came pretty quick. Overall, we would come back and try their other drinks and food option.

What a fun country bar!!!…read more My friends & I arrived at 8:00 p.m. for the line dancing lessons on a Saturday evening. The security at the front door kept looking at my ID then me. He eventually handed it back to me and said that they put the wrong age on my ID. How flattering! LOL! I was told that the cover is $5 which I didn't believe because almost nothing cost that little anymore so I made sure I had more cash on hand. It's true!!! Another amazing thing they do here is for any designated drivers, they don't charge you for the sodas, OJ and cranberry juice. The lessons started out at intermediate level & even the line dances after the lessons I've never seen or done before so to resolve that issue, I just started requesting the ones I know and DJ Mike happily put those ones on for me. They usually switch over to a regular club night around 11:00 p.m. however this night, he played country songs until 11:30-11:45 p.m. as he said there were a lot of line dancers tonight. Everyone I spoke to there (bartenders, DJs, etc.) was friendly & I really enjoyed my time there. When we left around 12:30 a.m., there was still a huge line outside although the place was already pretty busy inside. NOTE: They only accept cash (cover & bar) so make sure you come prepared.

My parents were visiting some friends around downtown Barrie, and saw the sign they have out front for the rib special,(1/2 rack, coleslaw and fries for $5.99) so they decided to stop in for dinner tonight. After waiting 10 minutes, the waitress showed up to take their drink orders, they ordered a few beers. After she delivered the beers they placed 2 orders for the rib special that was on the sign outside, the waitress told them, that it was for Monday only. My parents told her, that nowhere on the sign did it say Monday only, and since it was their first time there, they had no idea what the daily specials were . The waitress said that she would go and check to see if they could get the rib deals. After about 15 minutes, a man approached their table and said 'can I help you'? My mom answered 'I'm not sure, are you the chef'? The guy answered no, so my mom asked him if he was the manager, and he said yes, never giving his name at all. They tried to explain that they saw the advertising for the rib special, and decided to try some place new, and nowhere did it say Monday's only, and it was false advertising if that was the case. The manager took the beer's that was sitting on the their table, (unfinished) and said GET OUT. My mom said 'excuse me?" and the manager repeated GET OUT. She told him that they have never been kicked out of a restaurant ever, and that she is a Chef with the CCFCC. He said, 'well isn't that good for you'. My parents got up from their table and left the establishment. She phoned me after it had happened to tell me this crazy story of my parents being kicked out of a sports bar. I have never heard of such a thing, most managers are willing to work with the customers to make sure the customer is happy, never once did he say that he was sorry, or try and offer them another option. I am highly disappointed and shocked that this is the business attitude of an establishment in Barrie.
