This is the worse dealership I have ever dealt with. I wanted to purchase a vehicle and was told that it is no problem, I am new to the US so did not know all the ins and outs of buying a vehicle. Told to pick up the vehicle the Tuesday after our initial visit on the Saturday but after no reponse from the dealer on the Tuesday noon I contacted them to find out whats going on as I have paid part of the deposit already but no communication. We agreed that all will be in order for me to pick the car up on the next Saturday. No correspondence again and I phoned them on the Friday afternoon late to confirm. After several calls I got hold of the salesman just to be told that they will apply for finance now. Bought a Certified Pre-Owned vehicle (which promises two keys) but at pick-up the sales rep could not find the second key. I was told it may take some additional time to procure the key because of the pandemic, but it has been over 9 months. I was given numerous assurances that they would resolve the issue, and have been promised several callbacks and never received one. Made an appointment 5 days before visiting to see/buy a used car they were advertising. Drove 5 hours to purchase car. 1. It was listed as no accidents when the bumper was clearly hit by another car (heavy license plate scratch marks). 2. Inside of the car was dirty and there were. 3. Open safety recalls not resolved. When I agreed to the purchase price the shop in the final paperwork tacked on a ~$1000 'dealer prep.' This is a fee they charge to ready the car for sale, and is supposedly an average amount. This fee is bogus but I agreed to it thinking the car had been prep'd. Well when I went to actually leave the dealer claimed the car had just been sent out to be detailed and I would have to wait. FAST FORWARD 3 hours.... I'm still waiting, the car I just purchased was no where to be seen. It was being detailed still... When I finally got the car +3hr the inside of the car still had my dirty foot prints from my test drive. The car had actually had outstanding recalls and the dealer could not let me drive the car off the lot with these issues. So I had I agreed to pay a fee for work I was told was done on the car only to find out the work had not been done EVEN after I had an appointment on their books for 5 days. When I contacted the sales manager, Mark Maclay, regarding a request for them to reconsider some part of the fee I was flat out ignored. At this time I am unable to recommend this dealership as I feel as though they mis-represented the deal and charged me a bogus $1000 fee. read more

Since that time I have had 3 separate mechanical issues with this car that I purchased brand new only a month ago. BAIT and SWITCH. I saw a used Subaru Legacy that I was very interested. I knew enough about the car that if it was OK'd by my mechanic that I would buy it. I set up an appt for my mechanic to check it out, paid out of pocket for that and then when I went to look at the car afterwards to hopefully put an offer on it, the car didn't have any of what was advertised - leather seats, heated seats and back up cameras. It was blamed on their corporate office input error. They didn't come down on price enough to make up for what the car lacked and they didn't offer to help me pay for the mechanic fee. Let me start off that I did not buy my vehicle from Jack Daniels. They are far from where I live but close to where I work. I left work one day when all the sudden smoke started to pour from under the hood. I jumped out and noticed the oil cap was gone. The car had under 4,000 miles and the oil hadn't been changed yet. I was about a mile away from Jack Daniels and pulled in. The service department down the road didn't have one in stock, so the sales guys pulled one off the showroom car so that I could get on my way. These guys saved my butt as I would have had no way to get home. I wish they were closer to me because I would certainly give them my business after this. I bought a car at this dealership last year and I had a great service so I went back this year in January to buy my mom a car and she got a used car. They were suppose to install a back up camera that was purchase at the same time the car was purchase in January. It's already End of April and they just called us to take the car to the service center for it to be installed and we took it on Wednesday and I called today to see if it was ready.... and the service center told me that the vendor that was suppose to install the back up camera couldn't do it and they don't know what to do and to call Mark the manager. In which I have multiple times and he or any other manager NEVER calls me back. THIS IS ABSURD AND UNPROFESSIONAL! I the customer have to call in and check if the car to see if the car was ready instead of them to call me after 3 days. NO ONE had the decency to call me back before this and explain to me anything! I would never recommend this dealership to anyone. I had bought a Tiguan and was told that the 3rd row was good for traveling with a car seat. The Book clearly states its not in 4 places. This is a factory of telling you whatever they need to sell the car. The service is even scarier. I called because the engine light came on to have the vehicle serviced and the person is saying the car is not a year old and I keep saying but the engine light is on and demanded to speak to someone else to get an appt. When I bought my 2017 Alltrack, the sales guy, Sam Itani, was very decent, responsive, and aimed to please...so that was refreshing. The overall experience at this dealer was OK, pretty much standard fare of various manager & finance people taking shots to do creative negotiating or to up-sell while closing the deal. Several times the staff couldn't locate car keys (for initial scheduled test drive, also spare key after I purchased the car), which was comical but wasted my time. Overall though I was satisfied with my deal, the vehicle, and treatment, and the people were pleasant. Better than most new car buying experiences. read more

On Sat 10/13/2018 I visited Jack Daniels Volkswagen, to buy a Tiguan SE 4 motion. The test drive feeling is very good and I am in good intention to by a new car. I clearly expressed myself, that I am buying the car with a loan. And based on my excellent credit score, I am getting the best APR for the loan. I was told at that time the best APR is 0.9%. I assumed I am getting this APR. The final sale price between me and the salesman is $25,998 for the stock I picked (plus doc fee, MVC fee and other fees total around $800). It seems the price before tax would be $25,998+$800. Then different parties got involved. I got the new insurance. I signed all the documents to trade my old car. I am signing the paper for the sale. Almost 2 hours past, and no one told me anything about the APR I am getting, which I assumed I must be getting 0.9% APR. Around 7:00 pm, I was called to sign the final paper, and was told the APR is 4.5%. I was shocked to hear this. At the very beginning before agreeing on the price, I said clearly I am getting the best APR. I was told 0.9% is not for Tiguan. OK, why no one told me before, since I am buying a Tiguan. The best APR for Tiguan is 1.9%. However, I did not get this rate either. I was told my price of $25,998 is not based on 1.9%. Again, at the very beginning, I said clearly I am getting the best APR. What is the point to get the price for some unknown loan rate? If the APR is 20%, how it is possible for anyone to agree on any price and assume that would be a deal? Got sued as a result of doing a standard business transaction with them, and they haven't even been remotely apologetic or attempted to help make the situation right. Details: Recently did a car trade-in with them. While in there possession they got it into an accident & we were sued since they never transferred title&registration properly, and were driving it with unregistered plates according to the responding police officer. We incurred substantial expenses & fees in the process, not to mention all the time, stress & general headache that is naturally involved in dealing with being sued. They originally denied that it was there employee driving the car, but it was quickly proven by police records to have been their employee. I was told we would be reimbursed for the expenses we incurred but have been ignored by their reps since. A customer should not be at risk of getting sued during what is one of the most standard business procedures in your industry, and if they are, I would have at least hoped you'd be apologetic and work to make it right. Awful service. The original purchase wasn't even good, they gave us the car with a damaged tire on it and took forever to get us the one they promised would replace it. Then tried to use the fact there was a factory recall on a part to make it sound like they "gave us complimentary free service". It wasn't a complimentary free service to apologize for the tire, it was a Volkswagen wide recall that was free to everyone. read more

About a month ago I bought a VW Atlas after trading in the car that I had. Everything was good until I received a text from my sales rep about two weeks after the transaction saying that there are some "issues" with title (for the car I traded). After talking to him I found out that title has to be updated with my name. The lease for this car was paid off few weeks before I traded the car and I mentioned same to them when I traded it and ask them to check all the paper work required (cos this was first time I traded a car). and I was told everything was good..(Sure that's why we proceed with the deal). So my first question to my sales rep was if there are any fees associated for the title update who is responsible for that ? and after checking with one of his supervisors he told me that they will take care of the cost. I went to the dealership that day itself and picked up the title from one of the "sales managers" and again my question was who is responsible for the cost if there are any... and the answer from him was.. "Just get us the receipts we will take care of it". I got the title updated (Half a day was wasted at DMV) which cost ~$460 and gave the title back to them (Sales rep) and was told that I should get a check in about a week or so. Since I didn't receive the check I called my sales rep after about 10 - 12 days Me:- hey how are you.. I didn't receive that check for the title work yet.. Can you check the statues Rep:- Sure.. let me check give me few mins... Hey They didn't send it out... and they are saying that they cannot reimburse the money.. Me:- What ! why not they agreed to do so.. Rep:- I don't know it's not my decision.. Me:- Fine Let me talk to your supervisor (I get transferred one of the sales managers) After explaining the whole situation he agrees to escalate this to his General manager and get back to me the very next day and never called back. After 5 working days I called him back.. Me:- Hey it's me xyz.. Did you have any update on this ? Sales Manager:- ohhh gime me a second let me check my email... Sorry we cannot do anything about it. It's your responsibility to get the title updated... You may need to talk to Toyota (where I bought the lease from) and get the money from them cos it's their responsibility... Me:-.. wait what ?? Toyota ?? are you serious .. first of all you guys check all the documentation and said everything is good. Second of all you guys promised me to reimburse the money.. and now I need to talk to Toyota.. are you serious... This does not make sense.. It's your responsibility to pay the money back that you owe me. Sales Manaer:- Sorry I can't do anything. That's my General managers decision.. Me:- fine.. thanks.. So if you are looking for a new car, do yourself a favour and stay away from this place. First thing you need to look at when you are buying a new car, is the honesty of the people at the dealership. I was looking to lease a new car as my current lease was coming to an end, and I had researched the VW Tiguan and believed it to be a good match. At the dealership, everyone was very kind and friendly. I left with some numbers to think about between two different models of the Tiguan. The next day I received two phone calls regarding my visit. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get to my phone and was left with voice messages. One message was basically asking about my experience and whether or not they could provide a counteroffer (I had shared that I was looking at other non VW cars around the same size). I called the next day to see if the numbers I first received were negotiable at all, and I received a strong no. I was taken aback as the voice message I received was the reason why I had even called to ask about a possible negotiation. I went in that evening and spoke with my salesperson face to face to confirm the possibility or impossibility of negotiating the price and was given another strong no. I was told that there was no wiggle room at all and that the price would not change as it was the end of the month. The original prices I received weren't horrible to say the least, and so I filled out the paperwork and signed off on a lease. Things were going fine, until I received an email the next day about an employee pricing promotion that basically dropped the Tiguan monthly by $60. So here I am now, paying $60 extra a month when I was strictly told that my original numbers were non negotiable and would not change. I understand that from the dealership's point of view you are there to make the best sales and make the most margin. I work at a for profit company, and I completely understand that aspect of sales. What makes me so upset and disappointed at this particular dealership is the manipulation and deception I felt with the price dropping by $60 in less than 24 hours from when I was given a "non-negotiable" price. It's one thing to say that the price may change at any moment, but this is the best price I can present to you, and it's another to contact your client first with the possibility of a negotiation, take away that possibility, and then to deceive and make a fool of the client. Again, the price dropping is a significantly smaller factor to the dishonesty and ingenuity that took place. Just yesterday I received two calls and today another call to let them know how my experience went. I couldn't get myself to pick up the phone with how mad I was. And I can't believe they want me to tell them how "well" my experience was when this happened. I really wanted to just let things go, as I'm not one to hold on and keep grudges and such; however, I believe that all individuals should be given the maximum amount of information in order to make a well educated and informed decision. Don't get me wrong; the Tiguan is a very nice car, and I received decent pricing for it. They called me to confirm a day before, and text me the day of to confirm a second time that I was definitely coming. We decided to purchase an Audi instead of waiting the estimated 2 months time frame we were given and called them to get the deposit back. After almost a month of calling and waiting and dealing with 4 different people: the sales rep, an admin and 2 managers, we still have not received our deposit back. Avoid this dealership. I set up an appointment with someone named "Michelle," who I later found out was not on-premises, but an internet sales rep. She told me to come in to see the pe-owned Jeep Grand Cherokee listed on their website. I explained to her that I had just been browsing online, and it was probably out of my price range. She insisted that I come in before 9pm to see it because there was a sale ending last night and that the dealership would be aggressively pricing to move the vehicle. I set up with her to come in at 4:30pm. She then called me back and said the vehicle was in service, and that I should come in at 5:30pm. This wasn't ideal, but I decided to go and at least see the car in-person. I get there at 5:30pm, as we discussed, and I can see through the front window one of the employees sitting at his desk swiping though his smart phone. I check-in and I'm told that I'm scheduled to see Anthony, whom I had been told (at the time of my arrival) was on his way back and would be there in a few minutes. So, I walked around in circles for about an hour, observing the sales people taking to each other, one rep at his desk watching some loud video on his computer. Good times. Cut to 6:30pm, an hour after our scheduled time. Anthony gets back, introduces himself, and immediately wants my license and to get me on a test drive. Basically makes me feel like it was my fault that I waited for so long, but clearly the miscommunication was on their end. Long story short, the guy was pissed off at me for wasting his time by coming in and test driving the vehicle, because I wasn't necessarily willing to buy the car that night. This was after he told me I basically couldn't afford it based on what I was looking to spend. I understand that may be the case, but I told the rep over the phone from the start that it was above my price range, and she INSISTED I come in. I told him I was trying to do research and price vehicles out, and his response was, "That's what the internet is for." On top of that, I waited around for an hour longer than I should have, because if their poor time management. I'm sorry for wasting Anthony's time to look at his "buddy's" car that just got traded-in. I have no problem driving to New York to buy the same exact car, with less mileage, for $4,000 cheaper. I don't know why I keep wasting my time going to any dealerships or service centers owned by Jack Daniels. We've had multiple cars - Audi and Kia - from them, and it's always been unpleasant. Car dealerships need to realize that they are in customer service. This dude was exactly why websites like Carvana exist. read more

When we thought about getting a new lease through Jack Daniels, they were very friendly and told us they'd take our old lease car back and get us a good deal on a new VW. When we decided not to lease a car with them, they told us their lot was full and couldn't accept any lease returns. We had to call VW North America for a dealer who would take the car. So annoying. We wanted to return the car to Jack Daniels since it's very close by. We had to drop off our car at Crestmont VW in Pompton Plains. They were very nice and cool about it. I recently purchased a vehicle from the Fair Lawn location, I am not big on cars so I wanted it over an done with. I am assuming this is the same for most car dealerships but it was clear they only worried about the sale and not customer satisfaction. I spent 32K on a vehicle that had about 7K miles on it. I received no updates regarding the plates and registration which is part of the price of the vehicle, I had to call them several times. Additionally, I had to spend $364.00 on a second key because a $30,000.00 car only came with one. When I mentioned it at time of pick up the salesman said to wait a week because it came with a second key but we cannot find it. I called over ten days later and he confirmed they never found it and that I would have to purchase a new one. I had to spend two hours at the service center and $364.00 on a second key because the sales team couldn't locate the key. After spending 30K on a vehicle, I expected more out of the establishment. Very unhappy and will be telling everyone I know about my terrible experience. read more

1. I made 4 appointments because they kept FORGETTING to order the parts. 2. It took 8 days to "fix" the problem because they didn't get the parts right away...and because they added on $2000 in other "repairs" that "needed" to be done. (They called me 3 different times with three different prices, than when I said ok I have it they say "oh I forgot to tell you the total with tax added) are you kidding me?! 3. When I got my car back... A. There is WHITE paint on the back bumper of my SILVER car and the silver is dented so they obviously got into a car accident! B. My breaks and gas are extremely loose, (I came in for a transition flush only) I just got my breaks and rotors and tires replaced two months ago from another place so there was nothing wrong with them when this place received my car. C. I received my car back from them and the check engine light instantly turned on! (The check engine light wasn't even on when I dropped off the car!) D. The clock is now wrong in my car (again, I took it in for a trani flush) E. I took my car in for a transmission flush because it was jolting forward when I hit the gas....it's still jolting forward after I got the car back and apparently the guy who test drove it said it "was driving better than before", when the fact is that now my car is WORSE than when I dropped it off. If you have a business you should not be scamming people because u want them to come back sooner, IF YOU TREAT PEOPLE RIGHT THEY WILL COME BACK, but since you don't know how to run a business NOW YOUR REPUTATION IS TRASH. read more

I can't prove what I believe happened here, so I'll be objective and let the reader decide. I came in, had an appointment, but wound up waiting a while. Was shown the car I called about, and thought it was good, but there was a check engine light on. Sales guy said he could erase it, but I asked to see what the code was, in case it was a serious fault. When I spoke to my original sales person (who wasn't there at the time because he was handling another sale) I asked him to put the car in better light because it was dark out. I then saw that the car was hit by something on the drivers side front bumper; paint was badly scratched, headlight had a crack in it, and the clips for the bumper were broken, so the bumper was disconnected from the rest of the body. When I originally called, no one mentioned the car was hit, and their website pictures were kinda blurry so I couldn't see the damage in the online photos. Sales person said he could have it fixed and I could get a loaner in the meantime. I said I had to think about it. Sales guy said it was just body damage and he could have it fixed, or I could take the car like that and get maybe $100 off the price. Said I had to think about it. Sales guy said I should talk to his boss. Ok. Sales guy's boss said I could sign tonight, bring it back to get fixed, and be given a loaner. I said it was too complicated. Sales guy said I would have to come back anyway since it was 6PM and they were closing. I said if they were making a deal they would stay open, like any other dealer would. Sales guy said the damage was just cosmetic. I said I would need it to be checked for any issues. Sales guy said he could have his service guys look at it and I said I wanted my own guy to check. Nowadays, even a small tap on a car can leave it with electrical issues, fluid leaks, misaligned mounts, and to reiterate, the check engine light was on. All of these were concerns that made me not want the car, so I decided to leave. Sales guy wanted to still do a deal but I wanted to go. Sales guy's boss shook my hand, squeezed too hard, looked me in the eye, and said something like "have a good night." Sales woman contacted me after I left to see if they could have made the experience better. I said i needed to think about it.
