We were aware of the requirement to order alcoholic beverages in order to get the deal, though I do wish we were not forced to choose from their alcoholic beverages as this limits the guests who can attend. We got the pulled pork benedict and also some mimosas. The benedict was quite delicious, but the hash browns were underseasoned. The mimosas were not good - barely any prosecco, more like a glass of orange juice - no fizz at all. In total, it still came out to around $25 per person, which is not exactly a good deal for a very mid brunch. I saw a 2 for 1 brunch special on social media so my family decided to give it a try as none of us had been to this restaurant. There were 6 of us including one child and 2 seniors over 70yo. Upon sitting down, our server informed in order to receive the special, each guest had to order an alcoholic beverage. We asked if we could sub 3 with non alcoholic beverage for the minor and seniors as they could not have alcohol due to age and health reasons. The answer was no. EACH GUEST had to order an alcoholic beverage and we needed to order 6 alcoholic beverages to get the special. So we decided to leave as 3 adults would not be able to drink 2 alcoholic beverages at noon and we had to drive after. None of this information was mentioned on their wrbsite nor social media. A small group of us needed a bite to eat after a long 12 hour shift volunteering at a nearby hospital. The leader amongst us chose this pub, and we were pleasantly surprised. After working hard all day, I for one had developed somewhat of a substantial appetite. My other half and I decided to share a platter of Nachos. I confess I did not believe it would be enough to satiate the substantial growls coming from the bottom of my entrails, but I was very wrong. When the platter came, it appeared to me that it could have fed at least 4 of me (and I usually eat like 2 or 3). Well needless to say I understood why it was so pricey. no complaints with a very understanding waiter either. To summarize, the food was great, the portions were huge and the service was excellent. As I was in uniform (and with a supervisor) I did not partake in the drink but it did not take away from the experience. The food is pricey but that is not unusual for Vancouver, and well worth it for the copious size of the dish. The ambiance was classy and chic. I will likely return if back in that area. read more

We had the best service today, our waiter a very tall man, I don't know his name was fantastic. How ever I ordered the tofu lettuce wrap, there was hardly any tofu. I used to be a regular at Jack's before the pandemic. Then in the midst of it would go back once in awhile solely for the staff I got to know. I knew the owners only care about their bottom line at the expense of their staff and customers. Who raises the prices in a pandemic anyways?? I brought my GF here for wings tonight which is supposed to be the Tuesday special for $7. We each got wings and a drink. We asked to substitute their ranch sauce for sour cream. Which, when it arrived , was a tiny amount. We figured substituting was one thing for another equal value. Instead we were charged $1 for the sour cream . If I had known that just for spite I'd ask for my ranch dip to go since I paid for it. Also an advertised price of $7 on the chalk board entering and on the website, to my dismay I was charged $7.50. Not to mention the prices for drinks is at an Earls rate when at Earls you are treated with value and everything is top notch. No hidden pricing and add ins. I think it's absolutely ridiculous. Customer service starts at the top and these owners don't care about anything but money. They see you and it's dollar signs. Not providing an experience for their customers. I will not be coming back and will let others know they shouldn't spend their hard earned money in an establishment like this. read more

The following review is based upon the brunch experience​ only. I was planning on going to the library this Sunday and had some time to kill before it opened. I had never been to Jack Lonsdales at all and saw that they had a brunch menu. With so many great places to have brunch on the North Shore,​ I still wouldn't mind adding one more to the list. However, to sum it all up in a single word: generic I "Jack's Classic Breakfast" which was your standard, eggs, bacon or sausage, hashbrowns and your choice of toast. It was edible, I will give it that but bland. The bacon was undercooked, the eggs were okay and the toast as dry as I think toast can possibly be. It is a shame, the service was fine, the atmosphere on a lazy Sunday afternoon is fine but the first impression on if they put any extra pizazz​ into their​ breakfasts is disappointing​. As I said, there are many choices for brunch on the North Shore and so far the majority are better. read more

I went to this place for dinner today. Ambience was good. Waitresses were providing great service. I started with a nachos and a flight of beer which were awesome. The nachos plate was generousely filled with cheese and banana peppers and there was a big bowl of sour cream and salsa on the side. It was fantastic. Then I ordered a classic burger which was beautiful. The only thing that bothered me was the washroom which wasnt clean. Otherwise I had a good time and I will go back there again. read more

NEVER AGAIN!!! Is this a bar? Nightclub? Restaurant? Wait to be seated when the pub was almost empty on an early Saturday evening? Couldn't pick a seat that we would like? Cant comment on the food as we just had drink, however what I will comment on is how all the YOUNG waitresses are dressed all in black with skirts and tops so short it leaves nothing to the imagination...what came to mind was...is that by choice of the staff or the owner requesting they dress like that!! In this day and age its discusting...Hooters has long gone and if you think you will get patronage or more tips by dressing like that your sadly mistaken. There are other pubs on the north shore that are so much better and the ambiance is fabulous! Bring back the old authentic public houses...not some retro music bar/restaurant/nightclub!!! My husband and I came here for Lunch the other day and the food was fairly disappointing his tuna was still frozen when it came out and it had a weird texture. The avocados were unripe on both of our plates. The waitress blamed the unripe avocados on covid 19 which we thought was kind of funny. She said they are unripe because there isn't enough transport for them hahahha. Everyone knows that if you need to ripen an avocado put it in a warm place or in a brown bag. I had heard about this place before and was excited to try it. I showed up with a friend Friday night at about 7 PM to be asked for our ID's. Of course, this is a pub. (Even if we did just want food!) We showed ID and then proceeded to be sat at a table. Within 5 minutes, we got asked for our ID again. Okay, a bit annoying, but whatever. We showed our ID and told our server that we had already presented our correct identification prior to entering. Within ten minutes we were asked for ID again by another server. My friend and I don't look that young, so we were quite confused. We just wanted to order! We then ordered about ten minutes later. I ordered the fish tacos to share as an appetizer, and the portobello mushroom burger. The fish tacos were... Not good. I'm not a very picky person when it comes to tacos, but the whole thing tasted soggy. The tacos were advertised as crispy and weren't crispy! One star for the ID situation and another for the tacos.. The portobello mushroom burger. however, was quite good but very messy. It didn't help that our server had a bit of an attitude and kept glaring at us when we walked by. We weren't being rude or standoffish in any way, just got a bit annoyed by the ID situation! Probably wouldn't come back here by myself, but may consider visiting again if i'm with some friends who'd want to go. I just hope next time everything is a bit better. read more

I've been going to Jack's really often and now i'm regretting it. They're just so cheap. Really tightwads and their prices aren't that basic in the first place. I'm changing the star because it's really not value for money at Jack's. Sunday, I had nachos and they gave us a measly amount of sour cream. I wanted more but they charged me almost 30% of the dish for extra. I can't believe it, especially since we drink like a fish there all the time. Today, I went for their wing deals. It's about the same price for tuesday wing deals at most places. I ordered standard hot wings and they charged me $1 more for frank's hot sauce as the flavour. Hey! I was quite pissed off about not being able to log onto the internet as that was the reason I went there. Of course, the waitress couldn't log me in either. Horrible service on June 19th. I came here for dinner with one of my girlfriends and had an experience unlike any other... but not in a positive way. I had been to the pub a couple times before but had only been seated at the bar, in which service was decent. This time, we were seated at a table by the window. Our server was just horrible... maybe she was having a bad day but she was not smiling or friendly towards us, and you could tell that she didn't really want to be there. My friend had arrived a few minutes prior and had been given water by the server. It took ten minutes after my arrival to even get a glass of water! once our dinner order was taken, it took ages to arrive despite the restaurant not being very busy. Once our mains arrived, our server did not check in and see how everything was tasting, if we needed another drink, a refill of water, etc. Instead, she was talking to the other servers or flirting with the male patrons. We wanted to order dessert, but our server was nowhere in sight. We were about to get up and get the menu ourselves when another server passed by and we grabbed her. Once it came time for the bill, it took ages to come. We were both appalled by the service... this server just did not care. My standard tip is almost always 15%, but this time, I could not bring myself to do it. We both tipped far less than we usually do in restaurants. With so many great restaurants in the Central Lonsdale area, I won't waste my time or money here. It is also incredibly loud on weekend nights so don't come here if you are hoping to have a conversation with whomever you are with! read more

They have turned down at least 10 people in an hour and when we sat they gave us food menus and said it was last call. Had a burger craving and went here this past Sunday. I found a few tantalizing items on the menu but got sold on the Jalapeno Popper Burger. I was expecting a title like this to indicate that those deep fried poppers would be present in the burger, however, it is described as a beef patty stuffed with jalapenos & cream cheese, with more jalapenos as a topping. Dang, that still suits me just fine!! One of my favourite burgers and the truffle parmesan fries were the best I've had. Accompanied with friendly, efficient service.... I'm glad this place isn't close to home so I can save money!! Can't wait to return next time I'm on the North Shore. read more

Food portions are tiny even my friends salad looked super small. The service on the patio was very slow took 30mins to get a table and we had made a reservation. Went into Jack Lonsdale's for lunch, taking advantage of their $10 lunch specials. Ordered the First Date salad and was very pleased. It was a decent size, and tasted great. The chicken was cooked well, the dressing was tasty but not too much. They also have regular drink specials, and it's a great spot to stop in for a drink or several. We have ordered take away a few times as we work close by, and the food is always prepared quickly and well. My only complaint is that they have recently changed it so you cannot order the lunch specials to go (obviously because they are not making money on drinks..) It would be nice to be told this when ordering however rather than just being charged the full price as the boss was not too happy as we went well over our lunch budget for our work function! Overall, a good place and nice to be able to support a local pub. read more

After reading some of the poor reviews for this place, my expectations were low when friends of mine insisted on Jack Lonsdale's for dinner and drinks. Luckily, I was pleasantly surprised! The atmosphere is very nice, service is good, but most importantly, the beer is cold and the food is great! We all ordered burgers, and each one was excellent. Mine was the Jalapeno Popper Burger, which was stuffed with cream cheese and jalapenos. Delicious, although I think the chef was trying to kill me; not only were there diced jalapenos stuffed in the patty, but the entire lower bun was covered with (overlapping) jalapenos as well. I like my food spicy, but that's a little extreme. It was very easy to pick half of them out, but even then it was on the high-side of spicy. Just a little constructive criticism...the burger was fantastic either way. I've since been here several times, and all have been equally impressive. Parking is hard to come by (unless they have a garage that I'm unaware of), but I tend to walk anyway so it's no issue for me. (Edit: They do have an underground garage, accessed by the alley 1/2 block west of Lonsdale). We will continue to return. read more

My friend and I started with the szechuan green beans, which were really good, then she had the Cajun chicken salad and I had the Jack Lonsdale classic burger. Delicious! I work right by Jacks so I go there quite often. The renovations easily bumped this place up to the best sports bar on the north shore. The ambience of the Village Taphouse is decent, but their waitresses have no personality and they ripped me off last time I was there. The ladies at Jacks have always been welcoming, the food is pretty good (full marks for the nachos with pulled pork!) and the number of televisions is impressive. this bar is very bad new comers in north vancouver don't go there so many other good restaurants better then the jack lonsdale pub. first you go there drinking one beer and one shooter order a burger then wait and having a little some fun and laughing manager come at us saying your bar you guys have to go your to loud so we try to talking to him he became very agressif and kick us out .2 weeks later I went to buy beer at the jack lonsdale liquor store and went out and walk on the street 3 staff from jack lonsdale pub came at me calling me names and start to following me I got scared so I walk in the direction of my husband they start to surround us being very aggressive and intimidated so i call the cops and they took my phone and they brake my phone so the cops came 5 minutes after talking to them they come to me and that I should go I say i would like to press charge for harassing me and for braking my phone they told me we can't not charge them for that (the cops were obviously on there side ) why because we are french ! I been living and working in north vancouver for more then 17 years! it was the first time I was going to that pub and trust me the last time. The food was good but the service was awful. Our server looked extremely hungover and like she didn't want to be there. She kept forgetting to grab our drinks and then half way through her shift she went and sat down at the bar and had a ceaser and someone else took over our table. Our second server then said she can't split our bills evenly and we needed up getting over charged. I have had this similar poor service almost every time I've gone to jacks and don't know if i ever plan to go back again after today. read more
