    Naht yo Nachos! ;)
    Philippe L.

A small group of us needed a bite to eat after a long 12 hour shift volunteering at a nearby hospital. The leader amongst us chose this pub, and we were pleasantly surprised. After working hard all day, I for one had developed somewhat of a substantial appetite. My other half and I decided to share a platter of Nachos. I confess I did not believe it would be enough to satiate the substantial growls coming from the bottom of my entrails, but I was very wrong. When the platter came, it appeared to me that it could have fed at least 4 of me (and I usually eat like 2 or 3). Well needless to say I understood why it was so pricey. no complaints with a very understanding waiter either. To summarize, the food was great, the portions were huge and the service was excellent. As I was in uniform (and with a supervisor) I did not partake in the drink but it did not take away from the experience. The food is pricey but that is not unusual for Vancouver, and well worth it for the copious size of the dish. The ambiance was classy and chic. I will likely return if back in that area.

Been to Jack Lonsdale's several times. My favourite menu items are the prime rib dip and the wings. I think this place is a gem in North Van and I recommend.

I used to be a regular at Jack's before the pandemic. Then in the midst of it would go back once in awhile solely for the staff I got to know. I knew the owners only care about their bottom line at the expense of their staff and customers. Who raises the prices in a pandemic anyways?? I brought my GF here for wings tonight which is supposed to be the Tuesday special for $7. We each got wings and a drink. We asked to substitute their ranch sauce for sour cream. Which, when it arrived , was a tiny amount. We figured substituting was one thing for another equal value. Instead we were charged $1 for the sour cream . If I had known that just for spite I'd ask for my ranch dip to go since I paid for it. Also an advertised price of $7 on the chalk board entering and on the website, to my dismay I was charged $7.50. Not to mention the prices for drinks is at an Earls rate when at Earls you are treated with value and everything is top notch. No hidden pricing and add ins. I think it's absolutely ridiculous. Customer service starts at the top and these owners don't care about anything but money. They see you and it's dollar signs. Not providing an experience for their customers. I will not be coming back and will let others know they shouldn't spend their hard earned money in an establishment like this.

The following review is based upon the brunch experience only. I was planning on going to the library this Sunday and had some time to kill before it opened. I had never been to Jack Lonsdales at all and saw that they had a brunch menu. With so many great places to have brunch on the North Shore, I still wouldn't mind adding one more to the list. However, to sum it all up in a single word: generic I "Jack's Classic Breakfast" which was your standard, eggs, bacon or sausage, hashbrowns and your choice of toast. It was edible, I will give it that but bland. The bacon was undercooked, the eggs were okay and the toast as dry as I think toast can possibly be. It is a shame, the service was fine, the atmosphere on a lazy Sunday afternoon is fine but the first impression on if they put any extra pizazz into their breakfasts is disappointing. As I said, there are many choices for brunch on the North Shore and so far the majority are better.

I went to this place for dinner today. Ambience was good. Waitresses were providing great service. I started with a nachos and a flight of beer which were awesome. The nachos plate was generousely filled with cheese and banana peppers and there was a big bowl of sour cream and salsa on the side. It was fantastic. Then I ordered a classic burger which was beautiful. The only thing that bothered me was the washroom which wasnt clean. Otherwise I had a good time and I will go back there again.

Service was ok but they were short staffed for a Saturday night. Food was poor at best.

Mom was reminiscing about some British restaurant that used to exist somewhere on the North Shore…read moreso I started Googling to see if I could find another place that might serve British food. Google told me about Queens Cross Neighbourhood Pub so we made a spontaneous decision to come and check this place out for our dinner. Mom ordered Fish n Chips, my daughter ordered a Caesar Salad and I ordered a Classic Queens Mac, minus the bacon. Honestly, I wasn't very hungry. I sort of wish I'd just ordered a Caesar Salad like my daughter, or even just shared her salad with her. Originally, my intention was to order light like her. However, when I found myself in the restaurant...it just didn't feel right to order a salad. How often do we find ourselves inside a British restaurant? Caesar salad just didn't seem like the right thing to order, especially not when my daughter was already ordering it. I felt like I needed to order something different so I could try more of the menu. Hence...I ended up with Classic Queens Mac. I ate about half of it, and took the rest home. It came with two triangular pieces of bread on top. The bread was tasty but honestly...I have troubles understanding why restaurants like to serve bread with pasta dishes. Unless it's a small serving of pasta, it just doesn't make sense to me cuz pasta is a carbohydrate...it's a very filling food already. I was so thankful though that my daughter wanted to eat one of the pieces of bread, so that left me with just one piece to eat. I tried a few pieces of the "chips" from my mom's Fish n Chips. Wasn't too impressed but then again, maybe I should have tried it sooner when it was hot. The fries had cooled down already by the time I tried. My Classic Queens Mac had plenty of cheese pull to it and I loved that they put tomatoes into it. I was also happy that they were able to accommodate my request to make the Classic Queens Mac without bacon. Some of their Happy Hour eats look very appealing so maybe we'd try to come here for a Happy Hour sometime. Wish they'd add a Sticky Toffee Pudding to their Dessert section!

I was intrigued by the location even before I came here in person as I could see on the map that it was in a residential area, away from main streets and other commercial businesses. There was only one lady working here (Monika). I came here with my mom. She ordered a Chai Latte and I ordered a Matcha Latte. Our drinks came out fairly quickly but we had to wait quite awhile for our food. We had each ordered a slice of quiche with a bowl of Potato & Leek soup. Monika realized we had waited quite awhile for our food and brought us a chunk of carrot cake on the house to make up for the long wait. She said this cake was their bestseller. No room to eat the cake as tummy space was already taken up by quiche and soup, so we brought the cake home. The cake was quite good indeed and I enjoyed the quiche as well. Drinks and soup could have been better. I would have preferred my Matcha Latte to have been sweeter and my mom felt her Chai Latte was a bit too sweet for her. I think this place has potential and perhaps might do better with a bit more help. It's a charming space in a nice, quiet neighborhood. I do hope there will be more staff working here eventually. Kinda sounded like Monika had taken over this shop not too long ago so...guess it's in a bit of a transitional stage.

They only serve their hot brunch on a weekend, as during the week there is no chef available so it's the pastries and such in the window on offer. We enjoy their brunch offerings, finding them reasonably priced and overall quite tasty. I often get the big breakfast type dish with eggs, bacon etc. They had waffles at one stage that the kids loved but that doesn't seem to be available all the time. We can't go past a pancake on the side, as they're so tasty and cheap! Pancakes all round! ($2 each last time we were there). We enjoy coming here for consistent quality in a different setting. Service can be a little slow at times, though friendly, but they're a small, popular location with minimal staff covering the demand. There's also a small bodega type shop if you wanted to grab premade items or less common snacks. If you come in earlier on a weekend, getting a seat shouldn't be a problem. There's also a nice patio to enjoy the sunny days on. Pretty sure I've seen a few dogs here in the past. They do a good hot brunch which I'd recommend if you're in the area or posting through.
